    Hello everyone, again I have used plaster to create nice plaster flowers. This time I used a hydrangea out of our own garden. I'm really happy with the end result. For the people that didn't see my other video of using plaster, I will add the link to the playlist. ruclips.net/p/PLWqX7R3JwkuMjylTJ0OyT7DBijLiA6VID

    Another beautiful piece. Years ago and mean years ago there was a product called Faster Plaster after it dried you could literally drop it and it would not break. I found out they used paper pulp in it. When they quit making it I bought the pulp and mixed into the plaster which made is less likely to break easy and didn’t have that weird chalky feel. I am sure there was another ingredient in that plaster but I never figured it out. I wish I knew the recipe cos I have buckets of plaster and molds here from back in the day.

    Hi Petra,
    Your plaster Hydrangea painting is gorgeous. It must have taken a long time to get all the petals out. Could you have left them in or would that do something to the plaster?.

    • @petrajongbloed4425
      @petrajongbloed4425  4 года назад +1

      Hi Tina, thank you so much for your nice compliment. Yes, to take out all the patels was very time consuming, but I don't mind. 😀 I don't think I can let them in the clay, because it would change the color of the plaster, I think.

    Hi, great video. I have similar plaques but mine are square plaster that are approx 1cm thick and 20cm width and height. If I wanted to frame these in a deep box frame instead of hanging on a wall how do you recommend hanging so as it's sits flush inside the frame. I think the plaque would be too heavy for just glue. Using a wire loop won't allow it to sit completely flat. I'm stuck thinking of other ideas. Can you help?

    Beautiful video. I’m a beginner in plaster casting and I’m experiencing a few issues such levelling the clay, centering the hook as well as painting with watercolour. I would greatly appreciate it if you could kindly share any pointers. Thank You 🙏🏻

    • @petrajongbloed4425
      @petrajongbloed4425  2 года назад

      Thank you so much for your nice compliment N HW ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 Yes, that's a bit difficult to level the clay. Normaly I use a cutting ruler. On both side the cutting ruler can be adjusted to the right height. Between the cutting ruler is a thin wire with which you can cut the clay at height. When the plaster is already starting to set a bit I add the hook. You can calculate the center and that's where I'll place the hook. Before I paint with watercolor I seal the plaster first with a matte varnish. This way the water color will not bleed into the plaster. I hope this helps you a bit.

    Wouldn't be easier if you used a fresh flower vs dry and you wouldn't have to pick all the dried petals out. If you put the clay on damp cloth you won't have the problem of the clay sticking to the plastic.
