    Thank you! I was looking for a printmaking project to teach my 4th Graders while we are all home during the pandemic.

    Printmaking is new to me especially with foam, having just 'discovered' it on Amazon - so I did a youtube search and found this and I'm excited to give this a try. I LOVE paper; I LOVE 'designing' my own papers, to create stationery sets, journals, whatever springs to mind - and I love the idea that can just use colour markers and foam - who would have thought it!? We weren't taught this at school over here. Prints look great! New subscriber. I don't know if you are still doing videos (I need to check), but if so, please keep the videos coming - you have a great teaching style, good humour, calm and clear and enthusiastic - thank you :)

    this is a really cool project - I'm teaching a virtual summer camp (ah, covid) and will be using this since they have limited access to supplies. I think they'll really be able to do this on their own after I show them, and that makes this a great project and intro to printmaking!

    Hello and Thank you for the video. I am having a hard time getting impression to penetrate into the styrofoam. Could you comment on the type of paper and foam you are using in the project?
    Any insight on how to make better transfer of image into foam would be greatly appreciated.

      Same. I can't see my marks on the styrofoam unless I punch through the paper. I'm also wondering what type of paper was used to take the print.

    Very nice explanation of the overall technique. Small pieces of tape will go far in keeping the image in place while tracing. While I do appreciate your style with all the rings, they are quite distracting on the video. I really hope you'll produce more videos as your voice is calm and clear yet you speak with encouragement laced with authority.

      @@ninecarrotstudio3163 you could tape the paper diagonally across the corners, so tape doesn't touch the foam. AND he is wrong about the rings... they are AWESOME!!!

      I've used several brands. This one from Dick Blick works great for me. Sometimes trying different tools is also helpful. Some people like dull colored pencils. www.dickblick.com/products/inovart-printfoam-for-block-printing/?clickTracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=40403-1012&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlK-WBhDjARIsAO2sErSbs9XEKiAwhmD59cOLiU89JBccGy8ZbzDy5qz9pBY66YYGXEMgPkoaAmQcEALw_wcB

    am wondering if you can suggest what paper to use? Mine is pilling & bleeding when rubbed with sponge- maybe sponge too rough?

    • @ninecarrotstudio3163
      @ninecarrotstudio3163  5 лет назад +1

      I am using white sulphite paper, probably 90 lb. My sponge is definitely soft, and I use a light touch when I pull across the paper. I'd guess your paper is pilling because it's a paper without sizing (added to slow water absorbtion). Sulphite paper has sizing. Good luck!

    • @ninecarrotstudio3163
      @ninecarrotstudio3163  4 года назад +1

      Hello Ms Yanez, thanks for asking. Please use the video, and I hope it's very helpful to your students. Do experiment with different papers for the printing. I use 80 lb sulphite paper (student grade), but it's important that the paper has sizing and can stand up to the wetting process. Best of luck!

      Pixie ArtQ Just relaying what all my students reported. Otherwise they liked the tutorial. It’s a bit like when someone is giving a presentation but what people become distracted by is that the presenter’s tie is crooked. The focus should only be the information. And yes, I have created tutorials. The information here is great and I applaud her video otherwise.
