oil pastel vase of flowers
A quick oil pastel drawing for my fourth graders using Portfolio Series water soluble oil pastels. They looked at Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting for inspiration and have recently learned about drawing foreshortened circles.

printmaking with marker on styrofoam
Просмотров 124 тыс.6 лет назад
A demo for my fifth graders to guide them through their first printmaking experience.
Just chanced upon this video. Very clear instructions. Did you use regular paper for printing?
Great video plenty of instructions and a great result. Thanks for posting.
Hi I am wondering what kind of Styrofoam or foam you ordered and used... because the one I ordered isn't making indentions when the kids trace. Luckily I tried it first on my kids.. but I need to hurry up and get something that will work. Please help!
I've used several brands. This one from Dick Blick works great for me. Sometimes trying different tools is also helpful. Some people like dull colored pencils. www.dickblick.com/products/inovart-printfoam-for-block-printing/?clickTracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=40403-1012&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlK-WBhDjARIsAO2sErSbs9XEKiAwhmD59cOLiU89JBccGy8ZbzDy5qz9pBY66YYGXEMgPkoaAmQcEALw_wcB
Would this work printing on to fabric?
Not with the process I'm using. The markers are water soluble, not permanent.
I’m definitely going to try this!!!!
terrible demo
Will this work with any regular type of markers like Crayola, or only washable markers. I know regular markers will bleed with water.
Can I use watercolours instead of washible markers
What would happen with regular markers? Would they work,?
I would have my kiddos tape the top so that the paper doesn't move. We did this last year loved it!
She has enough rings to knock anyone out.

Following your instructions to print with my high school students this week! WONDERFUL explanation of each step. Hope our prints turn out as gorgeous as yours! :) thanks for sharing!
Good Demonstration
POV Im up at 8:01 watching this trying to go over my art project I got a 10/100 on and I will literally forget the entire thing in five minutes.
This is the greatest thing ever
Would you mind if I use your video with 4th and 5th graders in Anchorage, Alaska. I was going to make a video, but this is so good!

Hello and Thank you for the video. I am having a hard time getting impression to penetrate into the styrofoam. Could you comment on the type of paper and foam you are using in the project? Any insight on how to make better transfer of image into foam would be greatly appreciated.
Same. I can't see my marks on the styrofoam unless I punch through the paper. I'm also wondering what type of paper was used to take the print.
this is amazing. i appreciate it so much and thank u for walking us through each step
this is a really cool project - I'm teaching a virtual summer camp (ah, covid) and will be using this since they have limited access to supplies. I think they'll really be able to do this on their own after I show them, and that makes this a great project and intro to printmaking!
Thank you! I'm adding this to my curriculum for next year to replace linocuts in case they have to do this at home. Excellent guidance and your images are wonderful.
I needed to do a project on this for art thank you!
Thank you! I was looking for a printmaking project to teach my 4th Graders while we are all home during the pandemic.
Hello, My name is Ms. Yanez. I am an art teacher in Texas, I was wondering if you could give me permission to share your video on one of my lessons in an open forum platform?
Hello Ms Yanez, thanks for asking. Please use the video, and I hope it's very helpful to your students. Do experiment with different papers for the printing. I use 80 lb sulphite paper (student grade), but it's important that the paper has sizing and can stand up to the wetting process. Best of luck!
A nice tutorial but the rings are super distracting.
Pixie ArtQ Just relaying what all my students reported. Otherwise they liked the tutorial. It’s a bit like when someone is giving a presentation but what people become distracted by is that the presenter’s tie is crooked. The focus should only be the information. And yes, I have created tutorials. The information here is great and I applaud her video otherwise.
@Pixie ArtQ bit dramatic but ok.
Very cool!
You missed 3 fingers. #HandPorn
Lovely tutorial. Really good step by step technique. Please, please make some more.
Thank you. I've been wanting to make more. Out of curiosity, what you're interested in seeing?
@@ninecarrotstudio3163 More print techniques would be lovely. I just enjoy watching good art/craft instructional videos. Keep at it!
Just love your technique!! How thick is the styrofoam sheet...2mm or 6mm?
Thank you. I'm glad you found it helpful. My sheets were quite thin. I don't have that brand anymore, but I would guess they were close to 2mm.

Hi mrs. Williamson
Printmaking is new to me especially with foam, having just 'discovered' it on Amazon - so I did a youtube search and found this and I'm excited to give this a try. I LOVE paper; I LOVE 'designing' my own papers, to create stationery sets, journals, whatever springs to mind - and I love the idea that can just use colour markers and foam - who would have thought it!? We weren't taught this at school over here. Prints look great! New subscriber. I don't know if you are still doing videos (I need to check), but if so, please keep the videos coming - you have a great teaching style, good humour, calm and clear and enthusiastic - thank you :)
Thanks for viewing. I hope to make more videos soon.
Excellent!
Thanks!
am wondering if you can suggest what paper to use? Mine is pilling & bleeding when rubbed with sponge- maybe sponge too rough?
I am using white sulphite paper, probably 90 lb. My sponge is definitely soft, and I use a light touch when I pull across the paper. I'd guess your paper is pilling because it's a paper without sizing (added to slow water absorbtion). Sulphite paper has sizing. Good luck!
Very nice explanation of the overall technique. Small pieces of tape will go far in keeping the image in place while tracing. While I do appreciate your style with all the rings, they are quite distracting on the video. I really hope you'll produce more videos as your voice is calm and clear yet you speak with encouragement laced with authority.
Thanks, Richard. I did try tape, but it tore the foam plates. I appreciate your comments. I hope to make more videos soon.
@@ninecarrotstudio3163 you could tape the paper diagonally across the corners, so tape doesn't touch the foam. AND he is wrong about the rings... they are AWESOME!!!
Awesome technique!! Thanks for sharing. Will be doing with a disability group tomorrow.
