A video tour of Dublin during Bloomsday Week 2013 from Steve Cole of the LiberateUlysses project. Some of the sights and people I've experience wandering in search of 'Ulysses' this week.
Huge fan of Joyce, huge fan of Ulysses. As an American reader who's never been to Ireland, it's so cool to see the real locations from the book. It actually looks very much like it did in my mind's eye when reading it.
What a wonderful video. I’m finally going to read Ulysses. In preparation ,I’m listening to different lectures on the book. This is one of my favorites- great story, great scenery.
Great stuff. It isn't just Ulysses that yeilds reward..I managed to walk from the bridge pub in Chapelizod, from "A Painful Case" , up through the vestibule entrance to Pheonix Park; surmounting the crest of the Magazine Hill, and there was the Wellington Monument, with the hospitable red lights of Dublin in the background. Masterful.
Ulysses is more than a "novel", it's a rich commentary on humanity..
