I want a reality where X-Men Evolution got this big a push
Same it was so much better of a series. The only thing it needed was a better style in terms of costumes. But I really liked Wolverine, Gambit, Colossus, Kitty Pryde(Shadow Cat), and Quicksilvers costumes.

i find it ironic that when x-men 97 was announced, no body had a problem with it. ever since, the show started to come out, all of the sudden people are wanting x-men evolution, rather than x-men 97.

To my knowledge, the original X-Men 90s show was the second most successful cartoon of the 90s under Batman the Animated Series. It was a huge hit.

well the idea of the krakoa era of x-men was never going to last. even in the beginning years of the krakoa era of x-men, the hickman stated, "the toys will be put back into the chest" - after this era of x-men was over. also it's not a new thing, that big 2 comics cater to what the movies/shows are doing. I also find it funny that the moment x-men 97 stuff touched the comics, all of the sudden EVERYONE wants a continuation of x-men evolution or not wanting to read the comics.
Which ratings do you want? The original televised ratings when it was the #2 kids show inAmerica?

None of the teams are operating out of the manor. The uncanny team is working out of Louisiana. Kitty and Emma are pretty much running a New Mutant's team. The main X-Men team is operating from Alaska
Yh and the description on the website states its not like the 90s the description of each the titles seems like it's an aftermath of the orchis massacre
But WHERE are they training these new mutants? The Massachusetts campus? Or the mansion? We will see. There are also other team books coming so one of them could be in the school.

I really like it when they move the X-men forward, I love the 97 era however the Hickman stuff is by far my favorite, and the Matt fraction run is great. I like them changing and growing I wish we would see that more

As much as i love evolution, 97 has i think always had that look of the "iconic" x-men in the mainstream. It had a good, consistent run in the 90s and its a very safe adaptation that can also loop parents by nostalgia and their families and kids by proxy. Plus if it works then it may bring back other "classic" versions like spidey 94. That said im really gonna miss the krakoan age

I hate to disagree with sal, but that 97 show was on another level of popularity. I've never even heard of xmen evolution before. whereas the xmen 97 show has been consistently mentioned for decades as the definitive and most people's favorite version of xmen. that show was a juggernaut so to speak. it's so popular that this isn't even the first time they've rebooted the 97 universe. so yeah for most people, xmen is either a couple of those movies (mainly the first two lol) and/or that show. and that's about it as far as the general public. so yeah it seems like as far as most people are concerned, that is the xmen

I'm with Sal, I think those Disney+ numbers showed a lot of ppl streamed that classic X-men because with how hard they are going and with how GOOD this new season is.....they definitely saw something that made corporate/analytics realize it's almost a brand in itself. 3 episodes in and it's better than Invincible could have ever hoped. They could easily do 4-5 seasons if they keep up with this writing and set up an overall long reaching story and it seems to sell its own merch as well.
Surprisingly I think Sal and Benny’s comments about X-Men 97s animation are going to age horribly just because of how beautiful the show looks visually.
I think this was always planned, look at how slow Disney reacted to "Baby Yoda" popularity it took them forever. Disney knows how popular the OG cartoon was and went all in, if the reboot failed Disney would look like fools for going harder.
X-Men 97 got this push simply because nostalgia is strong. If this happemed 10 years later its X-Men Evolution

Evolution deserves another shot but even in its day X-men the animated series was a juggernaut. I just don't see the same wind in its sails that 97 does. That audience was always so much bigger
I don't think so. 90s X-Men is still mega popular with general public and was the 2nd most popular superhero show behind BTAS. I think this is a special case. I prefer Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men but the 90s show has a stronghold on people. Just like BTAS. But that's not enough, there has to be some current push to justify it. There's no way they'd bank their entire line on nostalgia

No it's nobody put a finger on marvel fans.And no disrespect to comic guys on yt but a lot (but not all) of the marvel hardcore is not into fandom or the geek culture either on the net or in the real world.For example look at how many videos people have on batman.By the look of it you will think he's the most popular comic character. But in the public numbers alone spiderman is the most popular superhero period.Its been that way for over 35yrs.Marvel hasn't been the number 1 comic company for over 50yrs for nothing.I think people get confused with this internet and real world.Xmen 97 came out and was the number one show.Xmen always had a sub culture attached to it. That's never going to change.Im guessing people get the last couple of yrs with the mcu confused.Marvel fans know what they want and marvel/disney knows that finally.We want the heavy hitters plan and simple.We dont have to make a hundred thousand videos talking about the mcu sliding of the cliff.Xmen 97 is not about no legacy or trying to get the MCU fans back or the internet hype that's old news.They want the hardcore fans back that grew up on marvel.And Xmen numbers prove that.

Sal is probably closest to being right regarding streaming numbers for X-Men. That is how companies make decisions. They don’t use Twitter opinions to green light line wide focus shifts and redesigns.

It really isn't that surprising that they are leaning heavy into x-men. Us fans even you guys on the channel have been waiting for x-men since we heard the deal go through years ago. If you ask me the anticipation for x-men inclusion is partially responsible for the negative perception of the last phase. It was overdue fornthwm tonhit the button and green light x-men projects. I'm just glad that this seems universally loved so far. Because we need positive momentum and word mouth to keep everything going

Every time I read x-men I feel like I dived into the deep end and just as I feel I'm getting my barrings the arch's over
Every time I try to read x men.I feel like I need to read hundreds.And hundreds of past issues to figure out what's going on
But I am enjoying ultimate x men. It seems to be character driven. I do not like plot driven stories. I like to focus on the characters, Not on some crazy complicated convoluted plot

The one on the ice is probably IO. I forget how her name is spelled, but she was introduced during SKISM and was part of the Jean Grey School in Wolverine and the X-Men
X-men 97 looks by mile better than Invincible in style, animation and just plain direction, it even is more consistently animated and directed than original show which really struggled with how overdesigned they were and so needed to do more with less movement. The rotoscoping from 3D has some visual quirks and some weird pauses in movement are there, but it straight up the best looking superhero show in a while, unless we count Rise of TMNT, then it takes second place.
That's putting quite a high expectation for me.

I really wanted to like the Krakoa era. When the first Hickman books dropped, it felt different from other X men shake ups. It was thought out and effort was being put into these books from the logo, the Krakoan language, and having each major and minor X members play a vital role in creating this island nation. It just felt like this was important and we were witnessing the next big era in X-Men history like giant size X-Men #1.
There was actual legitimate hype and anticipation for the X-Men since 90s then Hickman left and then I COULD NOT keep track of the books. I wanted to read fall of x but I couldn’t tell what ones were important or what books were even part of it. They all looked exactly the same to me so I bought none. It was such a waste of potential and I don’t think most people really wanted to read about the x men on sex cult island.

This is why like the other X-Men that came after Evolution(and evolution itself)had far less seasons than the actual Animated series that '97 follows.
This is why they picked that series to sequel rather than evolution.
Evolutions fanbase were mainly a young age group (the kind of people who actually liked emo rogue and a bastardized Nightcrawler.) and loose fans.
Evolution wasn't beloved by long time fans nor actual comic readers (not saying zero just far less)
The trilogy movies borrowed from evolution as well.
With the awful spandex and a return of emo rogue.
The only real thing that lasted from the original trilogy was Wolverine (which is basically a freebie), Magneto and P X.
The trilogy and Wolverine Origins aren't praised as masterpieces lol. They are liked/accepted cuz it was the best we could get in the late 90's early 2000's.
If they gave another spandex aweful reboot X-Men it'd very likely flop like The Marvels in todays climate.

Its actually insane that they are synergizing with the cartoon. Marvel love synergizing but i dont think theyve ever synergized with a cartoon show the way they are doing right now. Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if what Hassan said was true that Xmen animated is in the multiverse akin to what if.

Looks pretty good, as a fan of Jubilee and that Classic Blue Beast as well as Logan? I'll almost certainly pick it up.
It will be Gail Simone writing the flagship title, but I'm intrigued to see who will be writing the other books and how many other books there will be.
I would love it to be Deniz Camp, but he's going to be involved in the new ultimate universe and will be writing the Ultimates, I think. Doubt he can do both.
I hope its going to be a good writing team across the board.

I can say for a fact I've rewatched the 90's X-Men series since Disney+ came more times then anything else they have.
It’s the same reason the 1980s tmnt is the evergreen version in advertising, it’s the reason the original trilogy was advertised and referenced constantly, it’s the reason the ghostbusters is still happening.
NOSTALGIA, Sal YOUR generation won’t let go and the more people watch or consume it the more it’ll be around.

Since Disney+ was launched, no animated or comic show has ever appeared on Nielsen's list, only Bluey. That said, it is true that x-men 92 could have had good numbers, not incredible, but decent. However, I think you underestimate the fact that the MCU is modeled after Feige's tastes, and that every studio uses nostalgia nowadays, regardless of whether that old show or movie is still popular, when was the last time someone asked for a sequel to tron legacy or top gun?
They want to capture the children who grew up and became their fans, I bet the mcu will use similar things from this show but they will be aimed at new fans.

Look, the X-books NEVER had better rosters than X-Men gold and blue teams, X-Force, X-Factor, and Excalibur, from the 90's. PERIOD. It's been ALL downhill since then. Returning things closer to 90's greatness is all I ever wanted. It's the best they ever were.

I think Sal is right about this. Yeah the X-Men 97 was talked about and remembered fondly, but it ain't like The Batman Animated series where I see it regularly brought up. Kevin Conroy is the definitive Batman, but I rarely hear people go Steve Blum is the definitive Wolverine or something like that. It had to be based off something recent
Where you are? Steve Blum is the most loved voice and he keeps reappearing to play as him. Every new X-men show is always compared to the 90's X-men show when people about Marvel tv side. The reason why it couldn't be brought up casually is because Batman is a giant of a character and Marvel tried to uncercut X-men becaus they were in Fox jail.
In 2016 when i was in higgschool dudes who never read comics talked about xmen 97 i live in a country where barely anyone reads comics we had our first comic con in 2018. Xmen evolution was also there and no one talked about it. I liked voth but even college where we ralk superheroes and conics all the time people always look atbme puzzled when i bring up evolution and then counter with " you mean the one from the 90s"

Rise from the Ashes isn't a reboot. It's just the result of forcing mutantkind from global 1%er back into victim role so they can preserve their power fantasy's image and milk their "poor little superhumans" trope better.
Sal the nielson numvers are right there and are th most reloable sans disney.
Suits has trended top 10 for like a mobth xmen has never been mentioned in fact few disney+ shows show up in the 10 and its mostly just new stuff

Still haven't seen '97, rewatching the old show gives me whiplash with how quickly they blitz you with plotlines no idea how I followed as a kid, but I hope the new show has better pacing with a little more run time. My theory is they're rolling this show into the MCU, but I still would have preferred more x-men evolution, or an adaptation of new x-men\astonishing from grant and Wheaton respectfully heck even an adaptation of the krakoa era.

I think Benny's right. It's not the numbers it did, it's the fact that the fandom keeps talking about it and every time they've referenced it in anything, everyone's freaked out! It's jumping on the nostalgia for the most recognizable iteration of the X-Men more than the numbers it did on Disney Plus

I hate synergy. I've been supporting X-Men comics since i could afford to buy them on my own. I've stuck with them throughout many stupid editorial mandates/mistakes, but I'm done now. They could've kept Krakoa, have ''97 plus do an Academy X type show for younger kids.
Instead, they wanna destroy everything to fit this one era? The show is getting good numbers because we've been deprived of good X-Men content outside of the comics, which is Disney's fault. They took away the wrong message from the good publicity for the show.
Xmen is all about the right vs. the left in today climate if done correctly like xmen 97 it will do circles around anything marvel has done also it's easier to start fresh with them then making another capt movie lol.
