what a show nothing like it
Not this cover obviously, but I love that there’s an instrumental of this same song during a scene in “House of Usher.” Appreciate how Flanagan puts little things in like that.
The show is frightening but when they talk about death... I somehow cried. The hymns are wonderful... nowadays seldom heard in Church or may I do not go church too often these days. Lord, mercy be on us. Amen

Why do these hymns make me cry? Am I normal?
It's the music chief. You will cry if you even listen to the Oral B ad they did for father's day. Such a simple tone but it tugs at your heartstrings

I have been going through a lot as I type and listen to this for the umpteenth time.
The sort of things that your brain suppresses for years before resurfacing at the worst time.
And I have been very sad since this memory came back to the front of my skull.
Massive Change in my demeanor and a one very perturbed nightmare two days prior.
Feels like I have been loosing myself over the past three weeks.
As I'm listening to my mix on RUclips, This comes in.
Which is particularly strange, since it's filled with Rock and Metal.
As the sing plays, something hits me in the middle of it.
I start weeping, but not the kind of weeping one does when overwhelmed.
I weep because I know everything will be ok, although it shouldn't feel like that.
And I feel a little better after that.
There is no doubt in my mind. This was not the work of mere chance.
This had to be God telling me that everything will be ok one day.
To any who read this who are suffering through trauma, know this.
When you feel down, unworthy of love, and everything seems hopeless,
Remember, that no matter what you've done, or are doing in this moment,
God loves you.
He will always love you.
He will always welcome you back with open arms.
No matter how broken or tarnished with sin you are.

This one's really stuck with me, the song is already written like a prayer but the way it ends in the show with that shot of Riley laying down in bed makes it feel like a cry for help. I'm no longer religious and it still gets me
I listened to Holy God We Praise Thy Name from this soundtrack on repeat for a full 40 minutes drive home from work the other day. I used to be no longer religious too. The Lord was always calling but I was literally zoned out. A few years and some things just felt heavy - I didn't know why or how because in general I'm a positive and optimistic person. I called up my parish priest (who had been there for 10 years but I had never really met him) and set up an appointment and we talked. I was incredibly skeptical and he said he wouldn't hear my confession if I didn't believe God exists because it wouldn't do any good. I'm quite well-versed in my at-that-point former faith, and I knew about actual graces even if I didn't believe in them. He had challenged me that even if I was skeptical, that maybe I should try living as I once had as a practicing believer, and see after a year how I felt. I will tell you nearly 4 years later and it is apparent to me that that first time that Jesus restored my soul to a sanctified state in His great Sacrament of Reconciliation was much bigger than it seemed at the time. If this prayer (abide with me) helps you reconnect with Jesus, keep praying it. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but if you let Him work, He will work in you.

I had to fall over a horrorseries to get some of my oldest questions about God and the World raised (and even answered in a sense) by a creature, who pretends to be a priest, but is not, but seems to know more about the Light and its Power than even the Pope. There were scenes, when tears were forming in my eyes, because the truth from the Dark Angel's mouth was hitting the centre of my heart so straight, that Time stopped. How can the Devil make you believe more in God than God's servants. How, for JC's sake, how....???

Vampires from Australia and New Zealand fought in WW1 in Gallipoli, Sinai and Palestine, Mesopotamia, and on the Western Front. The one in Midnight Mass could have been one of these vampire soldiers who was somehow left behind after the war.
