Amen on the wood, I don't buy any farm trailer's unless they've got wood. One rail on my stakebed farm trailer busted yesterday. 1 hour of work today with some scrap 2x4s I had laying around the barn and woodshop and a brand new stakebed rail haha. Much easier than welding together new metal. I'm betting you're close to me as well. I'm over in Ashe County at ~3500ft elevation haha. We had snow last night on 05/08/2020.
Gosh, you are really Blessed to have your father with you. Spend all the time you can with him as life happens and before you know it he will be gone. I think it’s so Cool to see you with your Pops. Great job Brother.
Really like seeing you with your dad, cherish every moment, my dad was just admitted to the hospital yesterday and at 78 was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, I really appreciate your family values .
Good to see your Dad. Seems like a great guy. Next time please show a close up of his dog with the white and brown patches.... looks like a beautiful dog. Thanks
Hey Josh thank you for the video you and your father and I know what back pain feels like I have three to four herniated disc in my back so I hope you and your father a feeling better
Great channel. I just subscribed. I heard about you on another video and I’m glad I checked you out. Good content and humor is always good. I’m home steadingin the Ozarks of Arkansas. I started a channel to document everything. I think I learned a lot about making videos by watching you. God bless.
I watch every video. Love the channel. One of the few clean nice channels out there. Love how your helping your dad out. Love him and appreciate him as one day he will be gone. I lost mine in 03 and still feels like it was last week. Great job and many blessings to you and your family. May your channel continue to grow abundantly.
Love me some Masseys! Growing up we had a 1085 and 1100! That 1100 was an absolute animal. Only downfall to them was everything ran off hydraulics so if the pump went out, you were dead in the water.
I swear them older tractors will run forever. My grandpa has a 1952 super c farmall. I would love to restore it someday and have it painted. He would really love that.
The loaders were extra I had a MF40 1969 The 30B was The replacement Putting a weld on replacement bucket blade was a way of life When I bought mine from a relative I rebuilt the front bucket New floor and weld on 5/8 inch thick blade.. Then mounted a bolt on reversible 5/8 inch blade under it.. No more welding...
Another great adventure with musical accompaniment. Much fun. Now this is a little hard to swallow: Your dad and I are the same age. I guess we old folks have to stick together.
"Don't wanna say we grew up poor, we didn't want for anything but we didn't know any different . . . " Yep. Totally on board with that, got the T-Shirt an' ever'thing. I'm in the UK. Born '65. My folks were Farm Labourers and we lived in a 'tied cottage' (House owned by the farm for workers only) most of my childhood. We had open fire heating, which also provided the Hot Water, on the ground floor but none upstairs which you *really* felt in winter. Cooking was done on a kitchen range, wood fired. Basic food. Basic clothing. Basic possessions, wasn't a TV in the place 'til @ '78 but we had the wireless "This is the BBC!". Occasionally we'd get to go up to the 'Big House' . . . . Man, what a contrast.
You could get an aluminum grating used for walkways that won't let things slide at all. It's used in water, wastewater and probably industrial plants. We had some at a plant I worked that had been there for 50 years and wasn't worn down. It was rated for 200+ lbs per square foot, of course on top of the steel deck that wouldn't be a problem.
I have 2 Massey industrial tractors with shuttle shifter for reverse and forward on left side of hood. Perkins diesel, power steering but mine do not have loaders. They do have 3 point hitch and pto. I keep box blade on one, bush hog on other. The Old man is right, you can't kill them. Good Ole tractors.
You can bolt a new hard edge on the bucket. From what you showed the holes are still useable. As far as a welder I would go for a Miller 225 amp . Check with the suppliers to see if they have any in the rental fleet for sale . I got one for $900. that was less then a year old. New its around $1600.
Had a David Brown 1200 and a 995. Both reliable mules. Massey is in great shape. The Perkins engines are money. Tall guys = back pain. He seems too mellow to be your dad...good ol' guy 👍 BOOM
I like the Perkins motor. I drive a Sellick SD80 forklift at work. It has a 4.4L Perkins motor. I've been driving that lift every day all day for 14 years now.
I just bought a MF 40 industrial with the 3cylinder perkins diesel.... it is a pig and for no bigger than it is they are super heavy built.... thanks for great video
I grew up on a MF 255 with a Westendorf front loader. Those Massey's are legendary for starting up in cold weather! The Perkins diesels are virtually indestructible. Ours was an 81 model if I remember right.
Glad to see you helping your pops there. Have you ever thought of either going out and getting a dead cat or making a dead cat for your camera? It will help with that noisy wind.
Thanks for the story how you grew up ! I was curious if you were generational steader/farmer or just wanted to get out of the city. Always cool to see how people get to where they are in life. Dad is a cool old dude!
Metal deck only slippery when snow or icy, only load level! Josh check out county highway dept.for old cutting edge for MF bucket may have to fab. to fit, but will work.
When I was young we had a massey ferguson like that with a ford backhoe on it my dad started out the construction business with it and a old GMC dump truck and a flat bed trailer
when my wife father was farming, they had an industrel tractor like the one`s your dad has,it had a heavy loader bucket on it,they used in in a bunk to feed silage to milking cows here in Vt
Live in the Mountains of North Carolina, Wilkes and Boone area, Love my metal trailer, i have a wooden floor trailer also and it can get slick some times.
Josh I know this video is old but I just watched it lol I bought an industrial Ford 340 B loader tractor with a loader last fall. My wife and i are doing like you and trying to start a farm and only had an 18 hp New Holland compact for loader work and we found our industrial on Marketplace for 3000$$ i felt like it was settling for somthing less than i wanted but now Ill quote you and say "thats a kick butt tractor"
If in fact it is a 30C it would have the 4 cyl perkins. If it has a 3 cyl, it is a 20C, and the serial # pretty much confirms it, and puts it at a 1979.
Love your videos, thanks. I was wondering about the discount codes/ coupons you mentioned. Looking at picking up a pickeroon and that cool tree cutter in yesterday's video. Thanks Chip
Wood deck can be just as slick. My equipment/ car hauler has a wood deck but the dovetail is metal I want to put a spray on bed liner and or weld some 1/2 or so round bar horizontal to the dovetail as my wife's truck slips going up if it's wet even on the wood section
That nomenclature plate on the tractor is the one you depend on to find out which model it is as the one on the loader is just for that model loader. I learned how to operate tractors while working for one man who owned a new 1965 Massey Ferguson and I loved that tractor so much and treated it like it was mine. The owner's son was the one who abused his tractor and that made me angry and left me thinking that I would never treat one of mine that way.
My uncle was a riger for years. He would have that tractor held on with a lot more chains. They would be spaced out all along the tractor. I know I've helped him load his several times and his is a little smaller.
You can spray the deck with rough epoxy or even put that "sand paper tape" like on skateboards. You can buy it in sheets. You can also drill some holes in it for tire block/pucks to go threw and cotter pin the bottom. (Think of a mushroom. yep...you'll see the install brotha! As soon as I put out some fires here at the farm...gotta finish up old earl the tractor and get him out of the shop!
I just bought a Massey Ferguson mf40 with the Perkins gas motor mid to early 70’s model. I’m still not entirely sure of the year because I can’t find a lot of info on deciphering the serial numbers. Exactly like your dads my loader bucket has rust holes in the corners and the quick attach mount would be the best scenario. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing this project.Good Luck!
JOSH love the channel first off I agree with yea family first. I also have back issues not fun.. love the bit of the history give insite of you came to be. Thanks again Mike
I prefer a trailer with a metal deck, takes a lot longer to deteriorate then wood and both can be equally slippery regardless of weather. If your that worried about a slippery trailer deck you probably should not be on a trailer to begin with lol. Only advantage of a wood deck is you can nail into it for load securement but almost just as easy to weld to metal deck if need be. Nice old tractors, reminds me of an old ford backhoe i just picked up.
I just bought a 1975 also MF 30 industrial a couple weeks ago 6-20 I had to fix a couple things on it and I built a roof over seat area It has a mf 34 loader and a box blade I payed $4500
Man yall live close to me about 40 ish min but we like wood trailers because metal rusts pretty easy.
Leroy metal trailers take maintenance just as wood does
Amen on the wood, I don't buy any farm trailer's unless they've got wood. One rail on my stakebed farm trailer busted yesterday. 1 hour of work today with some scrap 2x4s I had laying around the barn and woodshop and a brand new stakebed rail haha.

The Massey furgason 30 c somewhere around 1986 to 1992 was production run for the 30 c series
Gosh, you are really Blessed to have your father with you. Spend all the time you can with him as life happens and before you know it he will be gone. I think it’s so Cool to see you with your Pops. Great job Brother.
Love seein you out helping your dad.👍💚
As one who's dad has passed on, for many years now, it's a real joy to see you two interact.
Very cool Josh helping your Dad out good man thanks for the video's buddy
Nice old machine! Your dad is a legend, reminds me of mine and we grew up just the same. Wouldn’t change it for the world
Really like seeing you with your dad, cherish every moment, my dad was just admitted to the hospital yesterday and at 78 was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, I really appreciate your family values .
Good to see your Dad. Seems like a great guy. Next time please show a close up of his dog with the white and brown patches.... looks like a beautiful dog. Thanks
Man I like that machine. I got ONE a 1967 MF 202 work bull. Had it for 30 years on our acreage in the Canadian rocky mtns of BC. Works GREAT!
Man your dad doesn’t waste any words. Old timer & to the point for sure! Good stuff as always Josh! 👍🏻
oh....he talks....just a bit awkward when ya put a camera on him lol
Hey Josh thank you for the video you and your father and I know what back pain feels like I have three to four herniated disc in my back so I hope you and your father a feeling better
You are a good son! You will be glad you had this type relationship with your father.
I grew up on a massyfergeson 50D backhoe. Super strong! Strongest backhoe to this day ive ever been on.
Yeah! Make dad show up as much as possible to the Stoney Ridge!
Awesome to see where you grew up and love all the old Masseys that your dad has
I still have my Dad's 1965 MF 204 front end loader. Dad said more then once that buying that tractor was one of the best investments he ever made.
David B I have a 1964 205
Good to see Papa Stony Ridgge Josh, thanks for the Video Man Cheers p.s WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Great channel. I just subscribed. I heard about you on another video and I’m glad I checked you out. Good content and humor is always good. I’m home steadingin the Ozarks of Arkansas. I started a channel to document everything. I think I learned a lot about making videos by watching you. God bless.

Your dad is right,I grew up on a 1963 65 massey diesel it's still running today.
Good Luck with Pops tractor! Adding the quick attach will certainly help out and make his work easier.
Good times with your dad Josh. Make him proud with your welding which you will. Happy times woooo 👍🏻
Love me some Masseys! Growing up we had a 1085 and 1100! That 1100 was an absolute animal. Only downfall to them was everything ran off hydraulics so if the pump went out, you were dead in the water.
Love the sound of the Cummins diesel...and the way you treat your parents. @stoneyridgefarmer
Always like when you help your Dad 🇺🇸
I swear them older tractors will run forever. My grandpa has a 1952 super c farmall. I would love to restore it someday and have it painted. He would really love that.
The loaders were extra
I had a MF40 1969
The 30B was The replacement
Putting a weld on replacement bucket blade was a way of life
When I bought mine from a relative I rebuilt the front bucket
New floor and weld on 5/8 inch thick blade.. Then mounted a bolt on reversible 5/8 inch
blade under it..
No more welding...
Josh you grew up living.. not poor but not rich. But look at the man it made you! Awesome. Dad is one cool dude
Woooo Way go Josh. Say hello to Mrs. Stoney Ridge.
We had a Massey40b. Ours had the 3 cylinder perkins also!! Always started no matter what
You father reminds me of how my dad was when he was still kicking dont say much but what he does say means the most
Another great adventure with musical accompaniment. Much fun. Now this is a little hard to swallow: Your dad and I are the same age. I guess we old folks have to stick together.
Olde ??? Dang ... I'm 65 ... Lol ... Your dad did good raising you ... Proud of ya both ...
he was a very hard man when I was a child...I'm writing a book about how I grew up...once done I'll get it on my website
Hi....... Thank you 🎥👍👍👍
I was a welder at Massy Ferguson in Cuyahoga falls Ohio, welded a lot of 10 through 30 tractor s
"Don't wanna say we grew up poor, we didn't want for anything but we didn't know any different . . . " Yep. Totally on board with that, got the T-Shirt an' ever'thing.

I hope your Dad's back surgery was a succes. I had back surgery in 2016. I had 4 vertibra fused in my lower back I get around better now than I did.
so far so good...I hope he will take it easy
You could get an aluminum grating used for walkways that won't let things slide at all. It's used in water, wastewater and probably industrial plants. I have a 20c that I picked up a few years back. I love it. Perkins 3 cylinder deisle. What motor is in the 30C?
Tractor is a 20c and a 1979 model year
I have 2 Massey industrial tractors with shuttle shifter for reverse and forward on left side of hood. Perkins diesel, power steering but mine do not have loaders. They do have 3 point hitch and pto. I keep box blade on one, bush hog on other. The Old man is right, you can't kill them. Good Ole tractors.

I'm looking for a Miller Bobcat right now....hopefully we'll find one soon!
Good choice I have a Trailblazer sitting 6 feet behind me right now. More then you need but I run it everyday.
Lol. Yeah Josh easy on that old timer stuff. I’m 68. Hey I enjoyed the video. 👍👍👍❤️
I had a mid 80s 30E tractor. I installed a 3 point hitch back how attachment.
Awesome machine. Had a Perkins diesel.
Your dad’s right.
Those Industrial tractors are stout beasts. Your dad will appreciate being able to drop the bucket off when it isn't needed.
Had a David Brown 1200 and a 995. Both reliable mules. Massey is in great shape. The Perkins engines are money. Tall guys = back pain. He seems too mellow to be your dad...good ol' guy 👍 BOOM

Great video, looking forward to seeing what you do with the Massey!
Nice looking tractor. Hope you do all fluids for your dad too
Your dad is awesome, good ole man!
Good to see your pappy. Looks like he has a passion for Massey-Ferguson, that s a good thing.
I grew up on a MF 255 with a Westendorf front loader. Those Massey's are legendary for starting up in cold weather! The Perkins diesels are virtually indestructible. Ours was an 81 model if I remember right.
Actual tractor vin tag is on the passenger side steering cowel. Look inside the loader arm. The tag you read on the loader is the loader tag.
Great tractors for sure
Glad to see you helping your pops there. Have you ever thought of either going out and getting a dead cat or making a dead cat for your camera? It will help with that noisy wind.
My brotha..every mic I have has a foam cover and a dead cat cover...but when the wind is 30mph...nothing fixes it
Stoney Ridge Farmer I guess at 30 miles an hour nothing would help. Oh well, still enjoy your videos noisy or not.
Josh if the diamond plate on the trailer starts to be a problem just weld some corrugated metal on top where the tires pass.
My family, the Reynolds, are from the Martinsville and Dryfork area of VA! I can't wait to see how the tractor turns out.
yep...been to the homestead...actually my cuz had her wedding reception there
Love when your dads im videos he has some intersting ideas and verry smart when it comes to farming
Hi Josh, I picked up a 1963 John Deere 2010 W Industrial with backhoe and 720 loader what a beast
Lookin forward to watching you convert that bucket to skid steer quick attach. Been thinking about doing it to my ford 776 A loader.
I know all about the back pain problems. I cant wait to see the look on your dads face when you get it done for him.
When I was young we had a massey ferguson like that with a ford backhoe on it my dad started out the construction business with it and a old GMC dump truck and a flat bed trailer
My Uncle made my DAD a 14' flat bed trailer out of flat steel and when it was wet, it was slick, but we used it for collecting firewood.
Love that old second generation Cummins
when my wife father was farming, they had an industrel tractor like the one`s your dad has,it had a heavy loader bucket on it,they used in in a bunk to feed silage to milking cows here in Vt
i believe it was a ford they had
Live in the Mountains of North Carolina, Wilkes and Boone area, Love my metal trailer, i have a wooden floor trailer also and it can get slick some times.
jcareym M I have a Bombardier muskeg and on my trailer whit wood on a rainy day once I almost poop my pans lol
I love old tractors like that
Hadn’t seen ol dad since the salt curing videos!!
I have one just like this my great grandpa bought it new I think and it’s still running to this day
Josh I know this video is old but I just watched it lol I bought an industrial Ford 340 B loader tractor with a loader last fall. My wife and i are doing like you and trying to start a farm and only had an 18 hp New Holland compact for loader work and we found our industrial on Marketplace for 3000$$ i felt like it was settling for somthing less than i wanted but now Ill quote you and say "thats a kick butt tractor"
love your channel the old mf industrial tractors are awesome i love them that's what i grew up on
If in fact it is a 30C it would have the 4 cyl perkins.
If it has a 3 cyl, it is a 20C, and the serial # pretty much confirms it, and puts it at a 1979.
I had back surgery too , take care of your back!
Metal tracks on a metal deck trailer can be sketchy but rubber tire on a metal deck, no problem.
Can’t beat a Perkins! Them old masseys are tough . I’d love to have that 383!
Love your videos, thanks. I was wondering about the discount codes/ coupons you mentioned. Looking at picking up a pickeroon and that cool tree cutter in yesterday's video.
Thanks
Chip
Wood deck can be just as slick. My equipment/ car hauler has a wood deck but the dovetail is metal I want to put a spray on bed liner and or weld some 1/2 or so round bar horizontal to the dovetail as my wife's truck slips going up if it's wet even on the wood section
You need a wood deck for hauling steel tracked equipment but for rubber tired equipment steel is good
Yes sir the 20 and 30 c is a mac daddy I love old Massey Ferguson tractors...
Josh loved the the tractor bonding of you and pop in this vid.....When it was over 300 you guys do much huntin on the farm?
My uncle was a riger for years. He would have that tractor held on with a lot more chains. They would be spaced out all along the tractor. I know I've helped him load his several times and his is a little smaller.
a nice looking tractor, Wooo!
Metal deck trailers are a no go for metal tracks. Your equipment will just slide an snap the binders. Top rated for rubber tire equipment.
We have a plan my brotha
Lmao! Once my binders are tight nothing is sliding anywhere.
Both types of trailers have pros and cons long term steel deck is better.
S. Pursell I took a ride on 3 ton roller with frozen rails on the ramp. I definitely pooped my pants.
Strip of old conveyor belting from a mill works great too
You can spray the deck with rough epoxy or even put that "sand paper tape" like on skateboards. You can buy it in sheets. You can also drill some holes in it for tire block/pucks to go threw and cotter pin the bottom. (Think of a mushroom. The top part is the tire block/puck and the bottom goes threw the floor and you cotter threw the bottom so it doesn't pull out until you want it out by removing the cotter pin.
So, will want to see the review, your impressions of the task to add a quick attach bracket to tbe tractor. If there is some related information to share you received from this opportunity. You said the bracket was by Titan or Titan equipment?
😊
Yes want to see part II.
yep...you'll see the install brotha!
Nice looking tractor 🚜
JOSH
love the channel first off
I agree with yea family first. I also have back issues not fun.. love the bit of the history give insite of you came to be. Thanks again
Mike
Josh, your dad really brings out your Southern drawl!
Those two tractors are awesome! Good luck with the quick connects!
You got a cool dad and you are a cool son.
nice tractors.
I be got a steel deck trailer I coated the deck with truck bed coating and it works great
Great video. I need to get a tractor on my place.
Your dad is adorable.
Mine is a 1975 MF 30 loader tractor with a 4 cynender gas perkins paid $3,000 with a box blade.
I just bought a 1975 also MF 30 industrial a couple weeks ago 6-20 I had to fix a couple things on it and I built a roof over seat area It has a mf 34 loader and a box blade I payed $4500
