It's sad that the pandemic impacted your plans but it seems like a minor setback. I look forward to your videos from your basement studio and it's awesome how much thought you put into the layout. Anything that makes making easier and more efficient is a plus in my book!
I'm excited to see you back in a smaller space. When you have a huge workshop, the "accessibility" of your work can get lost. Don't get me wrong; it's cool to see you do the super advanced stuff, but you guys were always cosplayers at heart!
The number one thing I hate to see in 'craft room/maker spaces/shop tours' is a space without room to display your craft. It always seems like such an oversight when planning a specific space to work in. Glad to see you displaying some of your items
Bill…your cardboard layout for the new shop space is great! It totally reminded me of my former employer. He always used graph paper to draw out a scale model of the space he was moving around…then used coloured paper cutouts for all the fixtures that needed to move around the space. Worked like a charm every time. I still use it to this day. I like the cardboard 3D layout because it gives you a better impression of the space things will take up. Great idea!
Wow, I’m really impressed how you organized everything and moved almost everything back into your home space. You will save a lot of money in the long run and it’s always nice to work close to home. Wish you two and your other crew members the best of everything in the upcoming years. I look forward to the new videos you create in the home workshop. I really like your down draft vacuum table idea for the rotary tool, that is very clever. Thank you for taking us on the shop tour. The cardboard layout you made was very helpful to see your vision.
I was wondering what happened to you guys, now I know. Glad to hear you're ready to get busy making more props for us! Thanks for the tour of your Ultimate Shop!
I was so happy for you to be in a proper shop as a long-time channel subscriber. But honestly, as a fellow maker, I love seeing you in a home studio. You always inspire but for me doing what you do from a home studio is uber inspiring. At the end of the day, you and Britt make awesome content and more awesome projects, so in reality, in a garage, in a basement, in a backyard... it is all good as long as it is you two doing what you do. Thanks for keeping on!
Love the new/old shop. I find once a creator upgrades shops the “feel” of the videos are lost and what we loved about the channel is lost. I can’t really explain it but I my self fell victim to this Phenomenon when I updated my model shop. The videos were so much better but that feel was gone. Looking forward to all the new “ OLD “ videos. Congratulations
It's amazing how redesigning a space from a fresh start can make it so much more efficient. The basement looks twice as big as it did before. Great work!
love old shop better then big one, but what i like was everything as in props, foamsmithing,3dprinting, cad, cosplay, casting it was very inspiring, educational to see and to get ideas for projects that we the people are working on and i wanted say thank you
This makes me so sad. Now I’m worried that Brit and Bill are struggling :( I will try to keep an open mind and optimistic outlook, but this still makes me so sad. I feel so bad for the people that were employed in the new shop that are now clearly out of a job :( Please! Keep making great videos!!
We're doing great, no need to worry about us. Our former employees are all currently employed at new jobs, so we're all doing just fine. I appreciate the concern. =)
It's so nostalgic seeing the old/new shop again, it's like seeing your old elementary school after graduating. But it's nice seeing it again, as this channel is how I started making props and cosplays (around the time of your resin casting videos) and I can't wait to see more.
I have been a long time subscriber. You and Britt were a big reason myself and the family got into cosplay and making our own costumes and props. It seems weird to say, but I am glad your back in the old/new shop and look forward to the content you both will create. Cheers
Pandemic reasons for changing plans is the most common refrain of 2020/21. I'm glad you all had a backup plan that worked out for you. I can only hope we all have learned that lesson going forward.
I was worried when I saw the "move" and you putting a brave face on it - glad you addressed the why. More glad you're both safe and are able to keep creating this great content!
Bill we are here for you, your content will always outweigh the filming location. We watched you start from the basement, this bump in the road is temporary and you made the grown up decision of consolidating rather than capitulating. Kudos and look forward to more delicious content.
To be honest, I‘ve skipped most of your videos for the last couple of months. Ever since I‘ve started training for a new job my motivation to create has deteriorated and I miss having time for that. But your video today just klicked with me! No idea how, but I feel so boosted just from watching you showing us your amazing new (old) shop! All the best for both of you and happy crafting!
I'm so glad you guys are getting back at it! You were definitely missed. What an amazing space to work in! It's so great to see all the projects from over the years!
I just got my 8'x10' shed shop up and running in time for a little foam smithing for Halloween. Your shop is something I aspire to, whether it be in the basement or elsewhere.
Great video, love seeing how you set up the new space and all the thought that went into it's the layout. I think I need to take a look at my workspace and make some adjustments. Also, so glad that you are still making content, this is one of my favorite channels, keep up the great work!
Congrats on the move back in, been following it on Patreon! I hope one day it can also bring the return of the streams, I miss being able to work on stuff while you guys were on in the background, always felt inspired from each one.
I am absolutely in love with your materials storage shelves. I am totally stealing that idea. I liked the big space as a shop space (can never have too much shop space) but as a filming space it always felt a little too big & sterile. I'm legit happy to see you guys back in the basement but all newly organized & pretty. The basement just has that good ol' familiar home workshop look and new viewers are going to connect with that while us old viewers are stoked to see how you guys changed it all up to better utilize the space.
I've have always heard that Love grows best in small houses/shops! Glad to see ya'll back down stairs! Much love to you two...from one maker to another!
Been watching for a while i just bought a house my fiance and I are closing Thursday im currently in a townhouse I can't wait to have my own garage to try some of these cool projects! Your an inspiration Bill! Also the basement looks awesome!! You should do a video showing the unfinished projects from storage!
Love the new setup! Much like the model, the setup itself strongly reminds me of Adam Savage’s cave. Creative storage solutions floor to ceiling, surprisingly cozy with all the decorations, and of cant forget the dedication to labeling EVERYTHING!
Always good to hear what you two, and your business, are up to. Your videos have meant so much to me as an aspiring prop maker over the last five years or so. Thank you for all your efforts in sharing your knowledge, time, and love of making! As others have mentioned, it makes me sad to see how the pandemic has changed your plans of growth, but it is a real blessing that you're able to continue despite the setback. I hope you and Britt continue to do well! Thanks for continuing to be positive and always looking on the bright side. :) Keep up the good work. The new shop looks amazing and can't wait to see what cool stuff you guys make.
Hey! My last name is Maguire! Spelled differently than that sign of course but still... close. BTW - Shop looks great. So much more organized and usable compared to the last time you were down there. I'm sure that was a function of the shop growing and shifting focus organically over time the way most of our work areas develop. It's great that you sort of got an opportunity to start with a blank slate on this go around. You've inspired me. Maybe I'll pull everything out of mine and put it all back in after careful consideration... and a cardboard model.
The pandemic ruined a lot of stuff, but I'm really glad you guys were able to weather the storm , because you are, and will continue to be a couple of my favorite makers to watch and enjoy , I wish you both all the best and look foward to all the videos to come !
Nice to see the Justrite cabinet for flammables. Just started working in the factory where they make them. Great video, glad to see the layout and the nostalgic look!
So glad to see y'all are all set up and ready to get back to making! So organized! My shop looks like it was hit by a pack of hyperactive gibbons on a bender...
Thanks for continuing to make videos. Hope the business continues to be successful! I've been following you guys for a long time and learned a ton from you. Thanks for what you do.
Hey Bill, I wish you and your lovely lady all the best in the world :) you are both amazing prop makers and a joy to watch, keep up the good work and all will come to you :) I for one will certainly be watching your amazing builds so thank you.
So cool Bill!! I know Covid messed up a lot for most of us, I think it is great you guys had the option to fall back on the basement shop AND the ability to plan a new shop layout!
Very cool. I wish I had that much space. I actually just had to shut down my storage unit and I'm scrambling to figure out what to do with all of this stuff. Unfortunately a lot will be given away or trashed. And then I'll see how well I can work out of my home. I've done pretty good in smaller spaces in the past, and I've always impressed myself with what I can accomplish. If anyone knows anyone interested in an old pinball I stared to refurbish. Your shop is a wonderland. Love it. I want to see a mill in there too. Maybe a slightly larger lathe first really if you mount work on the slide and use a collet for the tooling. Mill probably better. Precision Matthews and Jet are my own choices that I look at often to replace my old models.
Awesome at least it become much more organize which can be helpful and its common for everyone to do change in their life once we all go things in life and we learn from them for improvement and better. Be proud of the work you put to it cause in days you will see wonderful result move about.
I'm just about to start moving my workshop back from an industrial unit to my home and I am totally making a cardboard layout model now. And stealing half of your storage ideas 😁
Your attitudes out the situation seems so up beat angels positive. Thanks for sharing and not just throwing in the towel. For those of you curious about what all the props on the walls are, we did a video going over them! ruclips.net/video/9jwiICQmU10/видео.html
Bill and Britt, outstanding job! I really admire y'all's organization skills. :D What a *wonderful* place to be creative!
Thank you so much Crafsman! =D
I love TheCrafsMan!!!
Body shop guys recognize this expert level use of CAD to plan your move (cardboard-aided design)...well done!
Love the Green Ranger Flute Dagger. Surprised I recognized it from my childhood
Nice! That one was store bought. It's gorgeous!
It's sad that the pandemic impacted your plans but it seems like a minor setback. I look forward to your videos from your basement studio and it's awesome how much thought you put into the layout. Anything that makes making easier and more efficient is a plus in my book!
Yeah the basement shop is super efficient now and it feels great.
YOU GO GUYS HECK YEAH, random positivity and support, new thing I've started doing
Woohoo!
I'm excited to see you back in a smaller space. When you have a huge workshop, the "accessibility" of your work can get lost. Don't get me wrong; it's cool to see you do the super advanced stuff, but you guys were always cosplayers at heart!
The space looks really great. I love how you made the scale model to assist in getting everything better organized.
I am now an advocate for building scale models of shop spaces! It was extremely useful.
The number one thing I hate to see in 'craft room/maker spaces/shop tours' is a space without room to display your craft. It always seems like such an oversight when planning a specific space to work in. Glad to see you displaying some of your items

I'm super excited for the new features, like that downdraft table. Everything should be safer, more fun, and quicker to build/film.
It’s really good to see y’all back on RUclips. You’re an inspiration for us newbies, and it’s great to see you again.
I was wondering what happened to you guys, now I know. Glad to hear you're ready to get busy making more props for us! Thanks for the tour of your Ultimate Shop!

Right on! We just need a space where we can make stuff on camera! =)
Sorry to hear you are out of your big space but so glad you are back on your feet.
Honestly, I love it. I hated the big shop and I always missed the basement. Moving to a big shop made cosplay feel more exclusive.
Love the new/old shop. I find once a creator upgrades shops the “feel” of the videos are lost and what we loved about the channel is lost. I can’t really explain it but I my self fell victim to this Phenomenon when I updated my model shop. The videos were so much better but that feel was gone. First of all. How cool to see that Nova Sniper Rifle Master up on the wall.. And secondly.. All that labeled storage fills my heart with glee.
Ooh yeah labels make me happy.
It's amazing how redesigning a space from a fresh start can make it so much more efficient. The basement looks twice as big as it did before. Great work!

love that AS-style cardboard workshop model and the new/old shop tour!

Thanks for explaining all os this. You clearly put a LOT of work into this move and the organization. My little obsessive heart is happy

Thank you!
Have truly missed you! Thank you (and nice luck!) of you hanging in there this past year or two! Welcome back!
Thanks!
It looks really good Bill and Britt. To bad pandemic got you guys. At least you had a place to move the shop to. You guys have a good one.
Congrats on the new set up. Sounds like a solid decision. All the best.
Almost perfect - needs a "Buy my books" sign!
HA! I don't want to pilfer Kamui's gimmick. =)
It's sad that it didn't work out with the workshop but I'm glad you guys are still positive and doing what you love.

Looks great man really need to get my garage setup.
Thanks for sharing the update.

Cool bro. No rent means more money for tools and raw material. Congrats!
Heck yeah! =D
Brilliant idea, making a cardboard model to plan a space. I’m going to made one for our garage, it truly needs planning.

I love the diagram you made before the move. I will definitely think about doing that next time.
It's soooo helpful!
Seeing a lot of Savage Shop wisdom being put to work here.
Oh yes, totally!
Just getting my garage in shape and I will be sure to copy the downdraft table!
Looks very nice in there. Organized 💪
Thanks!
Looks great guys.
Thanks!
Have a small sad that you couldn't stay in the bigger space, but good to see you got it all back in the old shop

I like that this space because it would be very similar to how most of us would be set up.
I totally agree!

Nice job on the move!
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
I instantly thought of Adam from the thumbnail. Linda so fun
Good to see you both again, love the new old shop, makes sense given the pandemic. Look forward to new projects now your all settled in.
You could always take that metal sign and re-bend it to make it a front cover to the sinks area. It's a really nice sign.
It crazy that that is you basement! You done so much to it I love it!!! Keep on making great videos!!

Yeah trying to fit a lot of stuff into a smaller space is an extreme challenge. Best of luck!
