Drop C is truly an amazing tuning. I wouldn't mind tuning a guitar to Drop C, even though I have a 7 string. I'm a die-hard KSE fan, so any riff of theirs makes sense. How about you try to write something in Open D Minor? That would be a challenge🎸🤘🔥
I also mostly tune to D / Drop C. And use the exact 10-52 skinny top heavy bottom set that you have in the background! Though I would also add a Dååth riff, they kick ass! (Though one of the simpler riffs, stuff like From the Blind or Sharpen the Blades is killer... both in groove and difficulty, especially compared to simpler stuff shown here, Periphery riff is the only left-hand twister)
I just tuned my new guitar to drop C. Considering that the lowest I've tuned was drop D; OMG, why didn't I do this years and years ago?! Been a bedroom player that just mostly dabbles around every so often so I just always had my guitars in standard tuning. Not only was I amazed on this new to me down tuning but it just had me fixated on trying all kinds of stuff. I don't think I'll ever go back to E standard.
3:30 This right here is why Gojira is so good. Playing these parts is a legitimate physical feat; you literally have to suffer to play it, and it’s as if that effort is somehow manifested into their music and it just sounds different because of it
Nah don't dramatize it. Fast tremolo picking on a single string is a common thing and used by every band that tries to be heavy. It has nothing to do with suffer
@@AffixedEvil You’ve never played this part, or at least never played it correctly. That is not tremolo picking. Just listen to the picking intensity. It’s full force speed picking for 30 seconds.
