    That's odd that someone would critique your painting. This isn't a painting channel, it's all about the minis. I have discovered many minis I would not otherwise have heard of here, which I enthusiastically appreciate, and continue to plan to do so.

      That's one of my favorite parts of this channel. The vibe is great too and the enthusiasm for the hobby is clear and makes me more inclined to get through my stuff and try new things

    Oh boy, unwanted critique, everybody's favourite. You keep doing your thing, it is definitely appreciated

    Keep up the good work! You have more painted models hitting the table than most!

    The best part of your painting is its obvious you enjoy it and you get it done. Please keep your videos coming its one of the things I look forward to every week

    I love imperfections. There are way too many channels out there with perfect paint jobs, and I don’t care for them. I find your paint jobs much more interesting and highly inspiring, motivating me to get some paint on my own models

      I appreciate it!
      Keeping things relatively uncomplicated is something I've been doing intentionally as I've had more students and former students stumble upon the channel and the hobby in general. As a kid I always was amazed by the 'Eavy Metal paint jobs, but could never reach those standards as someone just starting out.
      Having talked with kids who are interested in modeling and gaming I like walking them through what a simple and effective paint job looks like and how they can get good results without investing hefty sums of money into painting supplies.
      We all have to start somewhere and my thinking has been to try and make that as open and accessible to the next generation as possible.

    An unusual way for them to spend their free time. I dont imagine they have a lot going on in their life otherwise. I feel quite sorry for them, they must be very unhappy.
    I really like the way you did the knights.

    Those Thoracite warriors looked like Roman legionnaires equipped with Greek Hoplon shields and Falcatta swords (except for the ones armed with a Gladius.) 👍😀👌

      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  Месяц назад

      They have a bit of Greek Hoplite mixed with Legionnaires. The Old Dominion undead infantry also have a strong Roman Legion vibe (even having many units with Latin designations), if it weren't for the fact that they're all dead and decaying.

    Yay Sir Ketchup and Mayo has arrived! I know what you mean about starting simple and then getting different patters have run into the same thing with my dark age Saxon spearmen trying to figure out what color to paint their tunics so they don't all look the same in a unit.

    Ooh, I really love that orangish yellow coloring. Stealing that, 😂😂😂even if you are a crappy painter.
    Just kidding your painting is lovely.

    Knights must look different. Its in the rules. Thats probably my biggest barrier with a Bret army, giving them all their own flair and its a little overwhelming. Though the thought crossed my mind to paint them each as different Kamen Riders for heraldry.

    For primers not sticking, have you tried Mr. Hobby Finishing Surfacer 1500 (either black or grey.) Sticks like lacquer, endorsed by hobbyists, just be prepared for fumes if you try it (40ml bottle for brushing or air brushing, also spray can)

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  Месяц назад

      I don't mind fumes! As long as it smells better than the Army Painter sealer I have right now- it smells like a specific brand of bug spray, so much so that I freaked out and that's what I grabbed off the shelf in the garage the first time I sprayed some figures with it!
      I don't think I've tried any Mr. Hobby cans either, so there's no time like the present to give it a try...

    You're painting is actually pretty good, especially viewing them from the distance. I wouldnt mind using miniatures like yours for gaming. I enjoy watching professional painters but sometimes, the chosen color schemes are exaggerated. I'm guessing someone is triggered from the painted KDMs?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  Месяц назад +1

      No idea. The comments are gone now too, which is strange. Plus I do try and put some effort into making sure my KDM figures are painted decently! They may not be prize winning, but if they can survive scrutiny up close and not look like a sloppy mess I can at least feel satisfied.
      My thinking has always been that these are for games- they're meant to be played with, and they should reflect that!
      There are some amazing painters out there who really elevate these figures into pieces of art, but I'd prefer they stay as pieces for games.

    Does it really count as building models when half of the details get covered in glue?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  Месяц назад

      It doesn't? Honestly, if it's something delicate that I honestly want to put time into, then yeah, I'm going to use the brush on Tamiya cement.
      Anything else is getting unpredictable amounts of orange Testor's tubes because it's FUN.
