I've found in most of my playing that the choice only matters to the player, whether it makes it easier to play certain notes or air travels through it in a certain way. But through everyone I have talked to the size ans shape of mouthpiece really doesn't matter when it comes to the sound they produce.
Hi Nathan Fulmizi, one question..... the gold plated, how long does it resist?.... because they told me that after 2 years the gold plating begins to lose or only happens with the no originals gold plated mouthpieces?......please help me because I want to buy a gold plated mouthpiece but I have afraid that it will lose gold of the mouthpiece and sorry, what brand is your trombone tenor small bore?
Kenny Yupanqui Catacora You can get gold Re plated so if you like the gold get that. The trombone in this video is an Olds Ambassador, but my current trombone is a Conn 6H
Great video Nathan, thanks for sharing. I was talking to a sales clerk yesterday, do you or your colleagues come upon a situation where a megatone mouthpiece becomes useful. I like the brightness, but sounds similar to a trumpet.
Stephen Coleman I play on a gold plated Vincent Bach 5G Megatone mouthpeice on my large bore tenor. I use it for legit playing mostly. Depending on your sound concept it will depend on what musical situation your in and what kind of music it is. Everyone’s different. For me I have more of a round dark sound so a megatone on a large bore evens things out for what I want, but I wouldn’t get to caught up in gear it’s the chops that make or break ya. Try things and see what works best for you. Hope this helps (:
Nathan Fulmizi Thanks for the quick reply, I'm mostly playing big band and Top 40 w/a Bach 42 Tenor, will likely stick with Vincent 6 1/2 as to help balance out trumpets. However, will probably trade the 42 for a 36. You've been very helpful my friend, thank you.
Stephen Coleman Your welcome! 61/2 AL is great for big band. Also I’m actually on a new mouthpeice with my small bore so this video is dated. I now play on a 5 G since I double on bass Trombonist a lot (and bass bone is my main axe). Happy practicing and good luck!
HELP! I just got the basic Bundy Trombone (Looks like a basic Student Model thing) -no mouthpiece? Is this a small shank mouthpiece? What mouthpiece should I get? I don't reslly care about sound quality. I just need to be able to make all the notes as easily as possible (I am not going to have much time to practice until next year so I would like to get started as easily as possible THANKS, -P
mmm... the first three sound extremely similar, only the heavy has a different Charaktere. Make a realistic recording of a trombone is quiet difficult, perhaps in reality the difference between the mouthpieces is bigger. You can try such a video in a bigger room with few meters more distance, not too much reverb.
sebthi thanks for stopping by. Actually my set up is different now. I play on a Bach 5G for my small bore, and for commercial music I play on a Harry waters custom guidings and Webster mouth peice.
I like how he pulled a bass trombone out of absolute nowhere at the end lol
ThatLaneDude Magic 😎

Sausage Side I agree!
The gold plated gives you the best sound.
ray cissell Yeah I like the gold plated
Can you please do a vid on how you did the protective wraps on the trom?
Robert Butcher I’ll get on that! Sorry have not been posting too much have been very busy and my RUclips app has been busy.
The Sterling sounded best IMHO, not that you asked if course Lol. The Kadja was a little too dark for my taste.
lbrown21494 Thabks for stopping by! Yeah sterling is a good one! The stainless steel always give a dark sound

thank you, so if I buy a gold plated mouthpiece, will it resist with the gold plating intact for 3,4 or 5 years?
It's correct?
Kenny Yupanqui Catacora yeah a couple of years at least.
@@bassbonen8122 jaja ok, thank you very much and good luck
I personally prefer a good quality V-cup mouthpiece
Alan Witton Yeah those are great!
Alan Witton what are some that you’ve played on?

Peter Welsh that is a small shank. Buy a 61/2 al Vincent Bach, or an 11, 12, or 7 c any of those will work
@@bassbonen8122 Thank You / I just ordered the Bach 6.5. Can't wait to check out these videos after it comes in.

Derek Schumaker yeah I kinda made this video a while ago for fun. Just some mouthpieces I had sitting around.
Have you tried G&W Harry Watters on your small bore?
Riff Raff Radical Marching Band yes I have one!
I was thinking of getting a Giddings and webster Dunwoody bass trombone mouthpiece, did you ever test that mouthpiece by chance?
Frozengames yes I play on a guidings on my bass
Nathan Fulmizi what made you choose the Chinook over the other mouthpieces Giddings has?
Frozengames I tired a bunch and that’s the one I get most satisfied with overall
Nathan Fulmizi where did you test them?
Frozengames I havea lot of buddies that let me borrow theirs before I made purchases
this video the world didn't need, most bone players play a 12c or 11c size m/ps!
POLYZENIDAS True some players play on those mouthpieces. I was just demonstrating the ones I play. Thanks for stopping by
