      Last time I was in Spain for a month, there were people from other countries missing limbs, begging on the street. The local news station made the same claim, Aria, that they had come from eastern countries (they weren't Spanish).

    Having to wait 24 hours to report is a MYTH please report a missing person IMMEDIATELY time is very vital and after 24 hours it could ALREADY BE TOO LATE

    • @pizzapartyfor1
      @pizzapartyfor1 2 года назад +10

      With little children, yes. With teens and adults it's a different story unfortunately, police often doesn't take those cases seriously and wait too long to do something.

    • @wabalaka1565
      @wabalaka1565 2 года назад +6

      Under normal circumstances for example you are 18years comings home late because you meet up with some friends for dinner, police could deny your request for a missing persons search which they deem unreasonable but after 24h Police by law have to mount a search for missing person. Under abnormal circumstances such as during hiking, being drunk before missing, have received threatened by any means, young person, missing in group, during before or after special time/event, .. etc whatever police found reasonable they doesn't need 24h to open a missing persons search.

    • @Aria.Inthavong
      @Aria.Inthavong  2 года назад +13

      Yes, BayBayWolf, you're right that time is incredibly vital and these missing people should be reported immediately. Even if you live in a region of the world where you do have to wait 24 hours, it doesn't hurt to report!

      @@pizzapartyfor1 yes, in the US there were laws put in place to change this, such as the Amber Alert for (I think) anyone 25 and under suspected to be kidnapped and definitely 18 and under. NCMEC (national center for missing and exploited children) keeps records and help for ages 25 and under, which is maybe where I'm remembering the 25yo number idk.
      But as we've seen, what should happen and what does happen are often very different!

    When you think about it, Singapore is a pretty small country so finding no trace of the boys despite the great effort of the investigators is just even more heartbreaking and baffling 😔💔

    • @restlessly12
      @restlessly12 2 года назад +11

      Indeed. Singapore’s small size makes it difficult for criminals to evade the law - they would have to leave the country immediately. That’s why kidnappings are rare in Singapore in the modern era, and part of the reason why this case was so devastating.

    Very interesting and you covered the case well. In a majority of these cases it's the family or those close to the victims who are responsible. It was likely the disgruntled father. Perhaps he trained or threatened the boys into never revealing their identity or reaching out to their families. The threatening phone calls make it seem more like a crime of passion from someone like a disgruntled father.

    You guys also have to consider, the phone call may not have anything to do with the captors, sometimes people like to stick their noses into cases just for shits and giggles. This makes sense especially when you think how little the call impacted anything with the case and how they would call all those months later . Why would they call just to say they wouldn’t see their kids again? Why would they risk themselves getting caught? I just don’t think it’s legit

    • @Aria.Inthavong

    I remember this case we'll. It happened when I was in Secondary school. Like lots of parents with young children then, mine repeatedly warned me not to wander off with strangers and to be go nowhere else alone other than school. For some weeks, it was mainly home and school, home and school.
    As to the question of what may have happened to them, I don't buy the human trafficking theory. This may sound cruel but personally, I don't think that they could still be alive. In all likelihood, they were probably killed that very day when they went missing. As you have said, if the duo are still alive, they would be around 50 now. If not their own families, they would long have contacted the authorities.
    In regards to the reason for their likely murder, I suspect it may have been a case of revenge against only one set of parents. Then there's the possibility that they may have been sacrificed for some occult practices.

    If the boys was indeed Human Trafficked to be begger boys... Its actually unprofitable for the traffickers to do so....
    1) The boys are too old for begging... Younger kids will be pitied more
    2) Trafficking boys is expensive... Needing to pass border's... Why do so when there are plenty of locals kids in Thailand or Malaysia that could be used for the same...
    I still remember this case... I was a year or two younger than them... At that time... It was so shocking and till today, remain unsolved.

    I sadly believe that it was human trafficking. The lack of any clues, the sudden disappearance without a trace. . These people are good at what they're doing they do this shit even now with all the CCTV and home security cameras everywhere and phones and stuff. Back in the 80's it would've been even easier. as terrible as it sounds. I don't believe the kids ran away not only bc they had good lives but they didn't pack anything with them and didn't even take their school bags or money. And they were twelve. How far can a couple of twelve year olds travel on their own and without money in a short amount of time? They wouldn't be able to take a train or bus bc no money=no tickets. Hitchhiking? Once the news got out and the reward was set, surely someone would've come out and said that they've given these two boys a lift. That leaves going on foot...which, again 12 yr olds and they were reported missing imidietly. They wouldn't get too far without being found. Plus the bizzare phone calls. This thing gives me chills.

    • @Aria.Inthavong
      @Aria.Inthavong  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting as always, Nina! Human trafficking is definitely a possible theory, sadly. I also doubt they would run away as well, that just doesn't really seem to add up considering what we know. Very chilling and mysterious case all around!
