Good on ya for the hip belt work around!
Now that you have used the Unbound 55 - do you think this pack would work for 40l load outs too? Also the pack looks very tall to me - how did you. Find the height? Thanks!

@@darchgirladventures4417 I had 40 lbs and no hip belt on this trip so definitely good for 40 lbs. This is my first time using this pack but had the SW for a couple years and it is essentially the same and I used 40 lbs load outs in it a lot. No issues with the height. I had food for 4 people for 7 days so there is probably no way you will have it that tall ever unless you are doing the same thing. I had it so full I only had barely 1 roll in the top roll down. You are really supposed to have 3 rolls minimum for waterproofness. Good thing it didn’t rain! lol

@@alpineearth thanks for the quick response! Will be trying out both sizes at Gear Trade but trying on in the store is not the same as on the trail, especially when boulder & mud puddle hopping! My days of carrying all the kids food is behind me now but on our last trip I had to take on some of my younger daughter’s load for a bit. As the 55l works for smaller loads, it may be the best way to go.

@@darchgirladventures4417 there is no problem putting a smaller load in a bigger pack. That way you can always add more stuff if you want to or throw a big bag of chips or carry lots of water if you have a long water carry whatever :) I’ve seen folks doing the CDT and PCT for example that were so concerned about weight that they carried a smaller pack and then regretted it later when they got that Hiker hunger and needed to carry more food or a bear canister.

@@alpineearth well I went home with a Waypoint 35. Had my full shoulder season load out with 7 days of food and I couldn’t believe how comfortable it was. Wouldn’t have even considered that pack without your review - thank-you!

@darchgirladventures4417 awesome!! I am in love with my waypoint. One of my best purchases ever. I bought a bigger hip belt for it at hyperlight. They have factory seconds in hip belts on sale right now if you need a different size
