  • With my family in town for the holidays paired with torrential winds, getting out fishing has been challenging. I did manage to get a few windows for quick shoreline sessions targeting Bluespine Unicornfish (Limu Kala) with my girlfriend. In this video I show some rigging on how I target Kala and two nice catches. The second day I was specifically trying to catch the elusive queen nenue.

The fish is called kala, limu kala is the name of the limu that they eat. Just a quick correction. Love eating kala, only thing is when I dive for kala, everything but the big ones come close enough to shoot, and when I fish for them, they no like get near the hook at all. I always end up with just stem no leaves on the limu when I bring up the bait lol.

Delicious on the grill with some shoyu chili pepper water. Just gut and throw on the grill. The skin works like tin foil and protects the meat from getting burned, once it is done cooking it can peel off in one piece
