Useful! I’m a semi retired art teacher and am looking forward to a small business to be able to create art. I had a side-hustle as an event photographer but I’m done with being a service. You only live once and I’m looking to express myself and show other people the beauty I see (maybe even use RUclips to show how I do it!)

Thanks for sharing Hashem. A very relatable video for me as someone who is still learning so much and making changes to surround himself in the photography space.

People can pick up on attitude...as in it's quite easy to see your passion for photography. It's great that you can combine passion with the ability to get paid for what you love to do....that's the best of both worlds. To be honest, your attitude was what made me hit the subscribe button in the first place. Then I got your zine and loved what you did with it...the photos were so cool!!! So keep on keeping on and I'll be watching from the sidelines.

Seeing your trajectory, even tho I’ve only been following along for the last year or so has been really inspiring. Your work ethic and consistent quality is something I’m working towards. And on a semi related note (to your personal channel) I just did my first PT session yesterday, loved it. All of these new things that I’m trying have been hard to start but really rewarding. Like someone else mentioned in the comments, you said something similar to a quote I really like “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure that you seek”. I look forward to seeing you keep challenging yourself. Keep up the good work 💪

Hey thanks man, sorry it took me a while (the comments pile up!) I'm glad I had some kind of small positive influence :-) Love what you're doing and am looking forward to your trajectory too 👍

It sounds like you have both a good attitude towards the photography business, and a good work ethic. I suspect that you’ll do well at it over time. It’ll be a much richer life than a typical 9 to 5 thing would provide. On my side, I’m newly retired and just love the film side of photography. I do my own colour and black & white. However, I just bought a new digital camera a few months ago and I’m have a ton of fun with that too..

I had a parttime photography business back in the old film days and LONG before the ubiquitous microcomputer even. I did documentary photography for lawyers, agencies, homeowners, conservation groups, etc and some freelance photojournalism. It became very successful, and I suspect I could have gone fulltime. However, by then I got to hate photography because of the "business" of running a photography "business". I hate business and all the aspects associated with it. I gave up that work and photography. It was almost 15 years after ending that parttime enterprise before I picked up cameras again. Now I keep it solely advocational. I don't do any work whether for free or for pay. Photography is a way to play with cameras (which I love especially film cameras) and a way to express an "artistic" side for a person with very technical fulltime job. So, one hint is to ensure you really want to do business even at the expense of photography. This is very important if you go fulltime.

A question about your lighting setup for youtube Hashem. I am thinking of adding 1 or 2 lights for my youube channel and never really used anything for video more than window lights ;) Living in Sweden thoigh that light is fairly limited during the winter, i really felt that this winter :P I DO have some nice Apurture softboxes, the Dome 1 and 2 for example. But own no led lights more than a smaller Apurture led lights i could light maybe the background with color etc. Would you recommend getting like 2 led panels as main or key lights? Or just get a led light with Bowen mount for the boxes i have. I dont have a big studio, just shooting in my kitchen with a desk hehe. So something portable would be nice and not too big. But your setup seems simple and nice , at least from the way it looks across the screen :)
    /regards Martin.

Hey man! Sorry for the late reply on this one. For the studio shots, I generally just use a single light setup with My Godox SL60W and a big Neewer softbox (no window light). It is also a cramped space to work in, so it can be tricky to position everything... but I make it work! I wouldn't mind eventually upgrading or getting something with a better form factor (like those flat panels, maybe). Beyond that, I'll sometimes use LED panels for backlight or a bit of fill, etc.

@@pushingfilm Hey! hehe no worries at all, sometimes we just dont have time to answer everyone at all times :)
Thats greta to know and as a reference to know what your light looks like when you shoot your videos.
I have thought a bit after i wrote you and if i going to add anything it will be a something akin to the power you had there like a Aputure Amaran believe they are called( or close! ) and the use the Aputure softboxes ( light dome 1 and 2) as i already have them .
Now its spring and light is slowly returning to the world of Stockholm Inhabitants hehe...so not as much rush but before the winter i think its going to happen .
Cheers Hashem, have a good day.
      /Martin.

I appreciate this because I am really interested in putting in the difficult work to make my photography my full time job. Under zero illusion that it isn’t quite difficult. But like the saying goes: “if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”

I think with the progress I'm making I will become freelance in 2050... I guess there is at some point some short of break through, but so far, not so good.
