    I have to admit, I enjoyed this discussion more than I thought I might! Thank you very much for putting this together. It is a great analysis!

    Very interesting topic, thanks. The whole idea of an integrated bracelet is that the case to bracelet transition in seamless and attractive. The Royal Oak being a perfect example. The Tudor North Flag with its integrated bracelet is another example of this.

    Fun topic, thanks for covering it. Integrated bracelet watches feel like the SUV of the watch market. From Kia to Rolls Royce, there's an SUV for everyone who will never go off road behind parking on the occasional curb. Meanwhile, sales for cars that are actually interesting or born out of driving enthusiasm have ever shrinking sales. 🤔

    The only problem with this bracelet is that you can't change it as you go, like you do with a leathet one, canvas, regular metal bracelet (another problem, since it's unchangeable, it must be really really rugged). That's why I prefer all changeable straps

      Buying an integrated bracelet is essentially agreeing to get fucked over by the manufacturer in the future. Be it when a link breaks of when a wacky material band wears out. You're agreeing to spend too much for the same product from somebody else.
      Similar attitude can be taken to iN hOuSe mOvEmEnTs where spare parts aren't available to independent watchmakers and you're forced to spend as much as the manufacturer can milk you for.

    Timepieces with bracelets that were truly integrated to the case date circa 1964 when Moinat the head of OMEGA’s creations department registered patents BA 768.0803 & 368.0847; first piece with it was a constellation in 1969.
    I just got a piece with an integrated bracelet, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon and it is well done, I agree that one definitely buys these type of pieces merely focused on the looks more than the horology under the hood, thank you for the great content, I always learn from your videos!

    That Bell & Ross got a lot of stick for being a Nautilus/Royal Oak pretender but I saw it included in a magazine spread with both those higher end models plus a few others including the Maurice Lacroix Aikon and when I saw it laid out in that way it seemed to strike me as an alternative within a design group rather than a copy, my feelings on the design were definitely changed.
    The only thing I feel let’s it down is the price, it seems rather high for an off the shelf movement that isn’t even chronometer grade.
    I think they would sell more units if the removed a grand or so from the final bill or upgraded the movement to COSC.
    Quite like the dial and bezel of the Tudor Royal but not the integrated strap design, both the bracelet and the case where they meet look very similar to a relatively cheap (£150) citizen.
    Great vid 👍

    The Bell & Ross, despite the dismissive attitude among watch elites, has a very appealing look. True it’s a bit expensive, and the movements is off the shelf, but it still looks great! And the Wempe Iron Walker has a great aesthetic, a chronometer grade movement and excellent build quality, for a pretty good price. Not the status brand demanded by some, but a darn good and good looking watch

    While I love my gold H Moser Endeavor on its alligator strap, I’m looking forward to receiving the new H Moser Streamliner in a couple weeks. My first luxury watch was Tudor North Flag and I’m looking forward to having an integrated bracelet again.

    Glashütte Original Seventies Panorama Date and the chronograph version. They're stunning. The blue dial chronograph on bracelet is my dream watch.

    I disagree. The Tudor doesn’t have a “boardroom” appearance and saying that it’s not for the collector is odd to me. People are free to collect whatever they want.

    I have never understood the idea that leather straps on a watch are formal. To me, it makes them casual. Is a gold bracelet casual? No, of course it isn't.

    • @the_9ent
      @the_9ent 4 года назад +2

      I think it stems from smart belts and shoes being classed formal attire. But I think that steel is just as smart.

      actually, all bracelet watches are inherently casual regardless of the material

    • @davidthom7127

      @@mikejones-dx8bx why would you think a gold bracelet is casaul but a tatty old leather strap is smart ? That is obviously completely rediculous. You have zero style sense.

    So,if i understand this, you want to say that the watch collectors are not the same persons like the persons who wants an appealing looking watch? And by the way,an integrated bracelets are a real shit, if i can't put my Nato strap on the Royal Oak if i want, fuck that watch

  • @stevefox8605
    @stevefox8605 4 года назад +1

    Really, really dislike GG designs and it's a shame his influence has spread so far- I'd buy a Tudor North Flag in a heartbeat if I could change the strap (I like a bracelet, but mostly use nato straps & as a vegetarian since 1982 wouldn't wear leather) Damn shame coz I love it otherwise.
    Cheers 👍🏻

    • @the_9ent
      @the_9ent 4 года назад +1

      Can’t you get faux leather straps these days? That give the appearance of leather?

    • @stevefox8605
      @stevefox8605 4 года назад

      @@the_9ent indeed you can, but why would I want to? Coloreb make nice alcantara (suede like) straps that I use, but I prefer natos or sailcloth generally. Still a shame the NF is proprietary strap/bracelet tho. Cheers mate 👍🏻
