Tara, I'm 61. I graduated high school in 1980, and yes, we had to write essays by hand, in cursive, IN INK. And you weren't allowed to have a bunch of corrections on your paper where you made a mistake in ink and lined through the incorrect word and wrote the correct word above it. It was pretty frustrating to get to the end of a page, make a mistake, and have to start all over again. In college I used a manual typewriter that I bought at the flea market.

you’re always a mood Tara, and I learned cursive around the time we learned to write, and then they spread out cursive packets throughout elementary. I’m not very good at cursive but now I feel that since I learned it so young my handwriting is a mix of cursive and non cursive and it’s very weird but I don’t think people use cursive much except for those girls in class who spice up their notebooks

I love videos like this! I love when people go shopping at the dollar stores or any store just to see what they can find or what they need to get or buy at the time. You also never know what you are gonna find in there, it’s always a mystery. Love your videos, please do more videos like this. I love it and by the way I’m a 32 year old woman and yes we had to learn cursive when I was in school and did it for a couple of years and then as we got older, it wasn’t really that important anymore except for a signature of your name on a document. Cursive was mandatory for me to learn in 3rd grade too (I'm 20 btw and live in Florida). We used to have a booklet with the different letters and we would trace them. Now it's not mandatory anymore and my sister is going into 3rd grade next year so I guess she won't learn how to do it in school but my family could always teach her.

I’m in my 30s & we had computer classes but the rest of our classes we had to hand write everything.. my kids didn’t even learn cursive in school, and mostly just used their laptops (my younger 2 just graduated),
My niece & nephew aren’t old enough to use laptops yet, they’re still learning to write, going into 1st & 2nd grade,
They haven’t really had to learn or practice good penmanship,
When I was their age we def had to write everything in a uniform size & neatly & learnt cursive in 1st grade

to answer ur question about cursive tara, im in highschool rn, and i learned cursive in 3rd grade!!! however my teacher was super old fashioned and most kids my age didnt learn cursive. i believe it was around 1st grade (mightve actually been kindergarten) when they made us learn how to use desktops and laptops lol. much like cursive classes, we had classes teaching us how to type and where to place our hands when typing which is such a foreign concept now that im thinking bout it LMAO. however most if not all paper assignments were phased out after covid, which is when schools started lending students chromebooks! so now besides classes like art and math, most if not all assignments are online and paper assignments arent handed out as often. from my understanding, i believe its just harder to keep track of for teachers if you have to individually mark and count each students paper assignments when you can just have studengs complete everything online and ask them to send an email for late work. so yeah, cursive was kind of phased out cause besides elementary schoolers, middle schools and highschoolers only have digital assignments so theres no reason to teach something like cursive if students are never going to use it!

As for the cursive, I'm 26 and was taught and told it would be used in college...that died quickly lmaoo. I still love writing in cursive though. I asked my 12-15 yr old cousins and they said they were only taught their name 🤷‍♀
