Held by the record company until the early 50s over minor unpaid fees, The Ticket Masters grew increasingly frustrated by the lack of communication surrounding their unpublished debut album.
"There was always somethin' else," Ernie Dent said during litigation that would eventually get the rights back in theirs hands the record into stores. "First it was charges for recording times, then session players, then in 49 they sent us a 25 cent bill for electricity but it got lost in the mail. Then when we complained, they started charging us for calls...calls they didn't answer. Then when they did answer, they charged us connection fees and fifteen dollars a minute starting from when the secretary answered the phone." Ernie and the band would get fed up fighting the system, eventually lending their name and seed money to a ticketing service universally despised around the world. Sources close the band have said "If you can't beat em, join em," were supposedly Dent's last words.
