  • This radio production, written and directed by Feliks Banel of Seattle's Museum of History and Industry was recorded in front of an audience and aired on local Seattle radio in 2001.
    It's set during World War II when local residents must convince two old time vaudevillians, played by Chris "J.P. Patches" Wedes and Bob "Gertrude" Newman to come out of retirement to perform at a war relief fundraiser.
    The cast includes:

    During the war, it was standard practice for visiting acts in Seattle to put on a "free" lunchtime performance & pass the hat for donations.
    My great aunt was in high school when Jack Benny was in town at The Metropolitan Theatre. She & her pals went to the noontime show.
    After the performance auntie spotted Eddie "Rochester" Anderson having a smoke break in the alley. The girls chatted with him & he invited them back that night as his guests to stand in the wings & watch the full show!
