I appreciate that you put in the effort to film these videos. It is difficult enough to work under the dash without having to be concerned with whether a camera is properly capturing the shot. The fact that you make it work is commendable. And I really relate to your comment about aches and pains that didn't show up when we were younger. I also appreciate that, even though the systems in modern cars can be complex, they still can be broken down into simpler components. Where I always run into trouble (as you also did) is finding the detailed specifications to be checked. I drive a 2007 Saturn Aura XE (which recently replaced my trusty 1996 Dodge Intrepid). I purchased an AllData subscription to use in aiding my repair efforts. I am VERY disappointed in the lack of details available from it. Can you recommend another manual/system that would be both detailed and affordable for a DIYer?
Happy Birthday Cook! Thirteen is when i was working in my dad’s garage learning what he would teach me. Learn all you can son, you cant get a better place to learn a trade, even if you decide not to continue doing it.
Great job 👍. Had a one with the same issue on Mazda. They put a pedal stopper pad that you would find on a brake light switch onto the accelerator pedal. The stopper disentigrated and allowed the pedal to go too far back in the rest position.
I have the same reservations about Dorman. Some of their parts are excellent (many in fact). Very good replicas of the orignal part. However, some are kind of iffy. The electronic end has a bit to do with really different manufacturing for some parts (mostly materials). I have found some small brake parts that are flat out produced to a different specification. Great video!
You guys should come over to the uk and see some of the European cars we have to deal with, some of the engineering practices are absolutely crazy! Awesome video and diag as always, love the content! All the best!
Happy Birthday future Detroit Red Wing! Those back probes can hurt like hell when poked. I have my needle end inserted into clear plastic condensate tubing (I’m an HVACR tech). Rubber windshield washer tubing may work well for you. Just a suggestion. Keep these diagnostic vids coming. Very helpful!
I have a story on a customer this week. 2014 chevy trax. I drove the car around with the computer on it because the said it take about 5 to 7 minutes before it would start to act up. I told customer that we need a high pressure fuel pump but its on back order at the dealership. Autozone/O'Reillys said they have the pump in two days. ? So I ordered it from the dealership. I will tell you why in a little. The customer gets impatient and takes car to another mechanic while im waiting on part. This mechanic said it needs a low pressure pump. I confronted the mechanic at his shop and asked how you get this diagnosis. Which means what? Whats was the customer complaint? He didn't say anything about the customer complaint. So, i started talking because he said he let the car sit and run. I told him i drove around monitoring fuel flow low and high and didn't see any fuel problems. Remember the problem starts 5 to 7 minutes in. Alldata shows that there is a pre-2014 fuel pump thats different 2014 and up but looks the same. The computer is waiting for the car to drive 27 miles an hour before it starts to check the system. The computer will command zero fuel for a second monitoring the fuel rail sensor. If it doesn't match up the car will go into limp mode and go rich. So with information i monitored the fuel pressure and gues what? I saw it go to zero then it went to limp mode and go rich. Then he said i saw you around before where's your shop. I told the customer give me the money for the parts and have him put it on or put the low pressure on i don't care just give me my money. This mechanic didn't test drive the car because the car sitting still will run fine. Which means he didn't diagnose the car. Testing is the way to confirm the problem. Even if you know already there's a bad throttle sensor.
22:11 can you guys try like a head mounted GoPro? Super exciting when you guys post a new video! Doc, can you come to Allen Gwynn and teach for a while? Please? 25:55 I remember a ‘22 Buick encore with APP codes gave me a hard time. Had to restring from the pedal to the ECM.
Thank you for your wonderful videos. I wonder if you can at you spare time spray the old throttle position sensor with electronic parts cleaner only (not any penetrating lubricant) behind the rotating disc so as to penetrate into the potentiometer, and check its operation with a multimiter as I believe it may work again, just as a test where you can make a video about it linked to this video. It would be great as well if you can test it on same or other similar vehicle Loool. Take Care.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Great catch. This is exactly why I always question why in the hell did they just have to make the freaking throttle controlled wireless???????? A damn cable worked GREAT forever!!!! If it ain't broken, DON'T FIX IT!
LMAO! accelerator pump? Yes I know what they are. I used to repair Quadrajetts. Nowadays like folks know how to operate a standard transmission, change a tire, or jump start their car. Sad.
What about checking tire pressure? Due to the fact that people failed to complete this simple and routine task, we now have TPMS systems. And the fact that they use batteries that go dead and need to be replaced makes them nothing but a nuisance to me. If these were optional, I might not be as angry about having them. But, IMHO, they are too troublesome to be justified. Give drivers the OPTION of whether to have them on their cars or not.
I didn’t quite get why it couldn’t be an issue on the sensor output wires, If I jumped the sensor signals to ground and to 5v and saw that on the scanner I’d be happier But good result either way I just didn’t quite grasp it
Dorman can't make a 5V ref sensor to save their life. I will use good used stuff if Dorman is the only choice. I work a techline and half our job is saying "throw the Dorman in the garbage."

Happy Birthday Mister Cook🎉!
came from tiktok, this channel is dope
Well done from UAE
Happy Birthday Lil' Cook!
Enjoy the content, great video
Need to identify which scan tool you use during each video?
Sensor may need adjusting, just loosen the bolts with the pids up and turn til you reach the desired voltsge
I would love to see a video on the proper way to do a coolant flush
Happy birthday big cook from Ohio ! 🎉

Cranberry , the colour of a toolbox for the discerning mechanic !

I've been behind people who drove like they had the same problem, but I think it was a code in the driver's brain! LOL !
did you have to do a relearn ? i know some models you need to do a relearn on throttle.
Why/how are two sensors used by the ECM?
THANKS ❤
You were wondering were to get some of them electrical connections the other week look up terminal supply company there from troy michigan
Accelerator pump, you mean like my 68 GTX. 👍

You should paint the wooden stand your toolbox is on to match. Doesn’t have to be perfect. Looks good though.
Happy birthday 🎉
Happy Birthday Little Cook
Thank you.
Happy birthday 🎂
I've had this on Opels....not always the pedal sensor....theres contacts where the engine fuse box separates give problems.....
That's why he checked the power first
Happy brithday, buddy,
Isn’t that the year model that the APP stuck open throttle 😁
Im still thinking carbon sticking
Happy birthday buddy! The wild parties are approaching.
I told you to lower the cabinet.

Cheap fix the part was available in town.

still like a throttle cable better lot less problems
Toyotas last so long they always have the weirdest problems after 25 years. Any other car would have been in the scrap yard.
accelerator pump failure is a lean condition
I didn’t quite get why it couldn’t be an issue on the sensor output wires,
If I jumped the sensor signals to ground and to 5v and saw that on the scanner I’d be happier
But good result either way I just didn’t quite grasp it
Couldn't you have just put the voltmeter on the output of the accelerator sensor and watch the voltage change to see if it had a dead spot
It's stuck in super econo mode!
happy Birthday

Quadrabog life lol
Is that blood on your shoe!? Yikes!

Any possibility that the original sensor could have been out of adjustment, causing the issue? Just a thought 💭.
Nice video and thank you for sharing!
