This song brings about immediate tears. My grandmother used to sing it to all of us when we were very young. She was the most faithful woman I've ever known. She taught me of God's love. She's been gone almost 40 year. I live in her house now. The very house where she taught me. I miss her so.

It was on a CW music TV station and he was on with Willie Nelson and some other legends and he gave his testimony (it reminded me of Psalm 51) and during the service how he found himself being called forth to the alter not knowing what was bringing him but he had to go, and how afterwards he found a tree outside the church and cried his eyes out. He was then right with the Lord. Sorry, that's all I remember.

This was my mom's only song request for her funeral, "No matter what else you play, I want 'Why Me Lord' played at my funeral." So when she died, I downloaded the song from iTunes and a few other songs that reminded me of her and her faith and burned them onto a CD for the chapel to play during her funeral. It is a beautiful song and it makes me cry when I hear it, but it also brings back so many good memories of my mom too.

I was a kid when this song was a hit. Im a old man now, lost everything, destroyed my family, prescription drugs and alcohol, used to be a contractor, pilot, good fly fisherman ect. Married 20yrs to first wife, 8yrs to second and my 3rds not working to well. After all the battels i gave my heart over to Jesus 1month ago. Going to church this morning. I just cant take it no more im beat down wore out so im learning to let it go and let the lord take me to where i belong. I even feel guilty about Jesus having to deal with a no good wretch like me. I feel a strong desire to be baptized and have all that garbage cleansed away. This song hits me hard. I shouldn't be alive and its a miracle i never killed someone in a accident. Sorry for rambling this sunday morning.

My mother was diagnosed with small fatty tumor (spot) on her liver in the Fall 2014. The doctor said w/treatment her prognosis was great. Distraught with her diagnosis, she didn’t want to fight it and wanted to give up. One week before Christmas in anticipation of visiting her, I saved this song on my iPad in hopes of lifting her spirits. Upon arrival, though not necessary, she had shaved her head and was completely giving up. We talked, prayed and cried. I handed her my iPad to see and listen to this song-We sang it together-twice. That was the last time I heard her voice. .Four weeks later, the day before she passed, Her body had shut down and she was pretty much comatose: With tears in my eyes, I said my last goodbyes, kissed her and while holding her hand, placed my pad on her pillow next to her ear in hopes she could hear this song one last time-that and her favorite song, How Great Thou Art*, sung by the Statler Brothers, which I had also saved for her. Since I was a little girl she had always told me when she passed, she wanted that *song played at her funeral (by the Statler Brothers), which I honored.

I love this song i first heard this played actually by one of my uncles back in the late 80s off his electric guitar 🎸and vocals as well this song has been a good go to song for a reminder of what life was like without Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and what joy came into my life when i converted to Christianity while i was in jail many many years ago and i was born again thank you forever for your daving grace God🙌
Kris Kristofferson is a musical hero to me. He's a profound writer, a lyric master, and the Prince of emotional delivery. I hang on every word he sings. This song and I had a relationship from the first time I heard it. I thought he was reading my mail and making songs out of things I would say to myself, and things I would say in prayer. I love this guy and what he does with 8 notes and a couple of thousand words. I used to sing this out, but I wasn't close to getting those growling low notes, nor the edge he has naturally in his voice. Whew! There's more to the story, but it's probably TMI.

He could play any instrument in the world because God blesses him with that talent. This song is still very powerful in 2019. I heard this song as a child. My mom played it all the time and I never understood why. I heard first sung by a couple, Derek and Oral in Zambia in a a Canadian Assemblies of God church in Lusaka. It stayed in my memory since then. This is the first time I had the words for the full song since 1970. I am so happy that I have all the words of the song at last. Praise the name of the Lord.
