I do believe this hybrid-tech work of art from Strymon is my new favourite overdrive. So much so, it's inspired me to step away from my beloved Fractal Audio stage gear and build myself a new 'real' pedalboard with the Riverside (and Sunset, hopefully) as the centrepieces. The 'multistage' philosophy and technology means there's not a bad sound in the Riverside. It does everything from clean and tweaked EQ boost right through to searing distortion. Creamy overdrive tones? No problems. Scooped metal tones? Yep. Slight boost? Of course. Treble or mid-boost? Yes. And on it goes. And all of the sounds are killer. Let's also add to the feature list Favourite preset control, 6dB Boost, 3-stage Presence filtering, full parameter expression pedal control and Strymon's build quality. The Riverside, folks, is a genuine winner.
