- Travel through the flu-stricken streets of 1918 London, as protagonist Dr. Jonathan Reid. As a doctor, you have taken an oath to find a cure for London’s flu-ravaged citizens and save the city. As a vampire, you are cursed to hunt those you vowed to heal.
A web of interconnected citizens with unique lives and relationships react to your decisions, and killing just one may cause the downfall of an entire neighborhood. Your actions will save or doom London. In Vampyr, the ones you vowed to save will offer the greater XP bonuses… do you kill in order to protect yourself, and cleanse London? Or do you succumb to temptation and kill the very people your Hippocratic oath protects?

Counterpoint: The game isn't a masterpiece and it is highly overrated.
I bought and almost finished the game at launch. It's good but has crippling flaws and quickly feels like a chore to play.
The character is so pre-defined that you can't do anything really interesting with it. Every dialogue is about how you're a doctor concerned for human life - Even when you intend to do a blatantly evil playthrough.
Secondly, a lot of the player choices you can make don't properly telegraph what is about to happen. So you'll probably end up doing like me, accidentally making the wrong choice because I didn't understand the outcome because it has BioWare conversation wheels™ and not Actual conversation readouts, completely shatters all your efforts put into your character and story, which wouldn't have been a big issue unless: Thirdly, the game doesn't allow you to make backup saves. 20 hours in and make a fatal, unintended error in the story? Too bad, the game autosaved the moment you made the decision. Restart from scratch or finish your now completely uninteresting playthrough because you fucked up.
And that's not touching the fact that combat often bugs out which will either definitely or nearly kill you, loading screens take forever, NPC's only come in three archetypes that is "brit angry at non-brits", "non-brit angry at brits" and "brit angry at other brits for being angry at non-brits", the game is very lopsided in that it can sporadically lock you in dialogue for 2 hours straight with nothing interesting being said because you HAVE to do side missions if you don't want to be evil and just eat everyone first chance you get. Also if you grind out experience by killing mobs (which is going to take forever by the way), don't rest and level up multiple times in a row early on because you'll unknowingly have unmet NPC's die to illnesses which you can't even prevent because their cures haven't even been unlocked yet AND the ingredients to said cure is either too expensive or only available in a region you haven't even unlocked yet to begin with. Which also means that if you chose the higher difficulties (which you can't change away from once you started your playthrough), you'll not only be forced to play vs harder enemies but you're also forced to be 1-20 levels below your current enemies so combat will be super hard and super slow for 75% of the game if you want to play as a good character.
If we overlook the second paragraph, the game is somewhere like a 5 or 6 out of 10. But the second paragraph really pushes it down to 2 out of 10 - such a missed opportunity.
Once you finished the game you can actually undestand this trailer...
man, this trailer is absolute insane, if you had play it before, you know that every scene is about something in the game... love it

Pre order bonus is the ability to turn into a sick vape cloud to fly around and to vape to regain health. you also get a premium vampyr fidget spinner along with the package while supplies last

E3: a place where people always need or want to find something wrong with every little thing in a trailer
I suppose it's better to say "This game is gonna suck!" and then be pleasantly surprised when it's actually good than it is to get on the hype train, only to have it derail when it turns out that, like usual, the game doesn't live up to all the buzz surrounding it. At least, that's my interpretation.
As for this game, I'm going to need more than a cinematic trailer, and a brief blurb about how totally hyped I should be in the latest issue of Game Informer for me to want to spend my money. _Talk is cheap_ as they say.

You know a game is gonna be the good kind of creepy when they dont rely on jumpscares.
Just started it tonight, as it was free on ps plus. I’m genuinely impressed. It’s incredibly original and the way it makes you determine what kind of vampire you wish to be is awesome. Combined with excellent music by Olivier Derniviere and impressive voice acting, it’s definitely one of the hidden gems of 2018. Can’t wait to see where Dontnod goes. They know how to do original games and not to make similar games.

Wow what an amazing trailer!! It being from DONTNOD, I got high expectations from it.

@@rosalesfr.6493 It was alright, traded it in for saints row 2, glitchy and felt like they were tackling a gameplay style they werent good with, like if telltale tried to make red dead two, with the telltale engine

Just finished. The game is pretty enjoyable. It had bugs, a bad map and FPS drops but it makes up for it with an excellent story and setting, decent gameplay and dialogue. Hopefully there's a sequel and they improve on their flaws!

I have not been as hyped for a vampire game since World Of Darkness was cancelled. PRAYING for Vampyr to live up to the promises it's making.
I love this game so much XD love the soundtrack, the characters, the designs, the worlds, the voice acting is great, I just seriously wish we got to explore more of the subplot type things. world building and such.

I would have loved if they'd built more on Geoffrey and the guard. We got his backstory. but it was shoved into optional expositional dialogue that felt pretty OOC. kind of hard to judge though, with him only coming up like four times. Gr8 boss tho, lots of fun.
I also would have loved more on Jonathan's previous career as a pioneer of medical advances. Like... he a blood specialist who's been experimenting with blood transfusion! And I find it hard to believe he'd stop questioning his new vampire biology and limitations after only going through Ashbury.
And like, Merlin and King Arthur?? Yes?? Can we get more on that??
The game isn't super long, so I get why, but ya know. The fandom is too small for my world building thirst to be sated through fanfiction.
And now I need a fanfic where Redgrave share Venus with the other Lords in Ascalon Club.

THAT is the problem with the whole "hipster" fashion it looks too clean and not as unkempt as it should, especially on the haircut and facial hair department, it looks too much on the nose to fit with that era, kind of uncanny valley for me if you know what I mean…
This is the company Don't Nod who made Life is Strange and Remember Me. Both spectacular games. I am looking forward to this.

It's kinda strange that after showing gameplay from the game they'd go back and create a cinematic trailer but well, it was a nice looking trailer and the music was great.
They chose a great song, lots of effort put into this trailer overall, it shows.
Worries me they didn't use any gameplay though. Hope they did as great a job with the actual game.

Was a day one X Box pick up / pre order for me. I have it on Switch now. On my third playthroughs across 2 platforms. Never launched on Ps5 yet.

wish this was the sequel of the order 1886 but looks and feels like it so definitely worth 60$
Giraffe Rider The Order 1886 wasn't even worth $60. Sure the graphics looked great. The story was good. But the gameplay sucked. And there was no replay value. Once I beat it I had no desire to replay it. And it was to short of a game. And the boss fight was pathetic. The final boss fight was exactly like the one near the beginning. Just terrible. It was a disappointment.

Giraffe Rider The Last of Us is a great game. uncharted is a great game. The Order. Good story. Good graphics. But that doesn't make a great game. Good graphics and a good story doesn't excuse it's poor gameplay. Let alone replay value. If the order 2 can capitalize on the gameplay and give it replay value then yeah maybe someday it'll be good. But 4 hrs of gameplay isn't something worth $60. And the gameplay they revealed for this game 9 months ago wasn't to impressive. The combat was bland. And the lip sync was off. Sure they've had time to fix the lip sync. But if the combat system is still the same. I won't hold my breath.
Vampyr is $49.99 on steam but on sale for $44.99, so you don't even have to worry about the $60

This game is ok. I would like someone to create an open world game that's based off the original Dracula movie. It would be sort of in the same vain of the Batman Arkham series games except you go around and hunt people down.
Your a vampire doctor imagine showing up to a crime scene that YOU'RE responsible for..lol..that would suck just making more work for yourself in a time when you would already as a doctor be overwhelmed by to many problems to deal with.
To the clueless: this game is NOT made by the core Life is Strange team, which has been busy working on LiS 2 so far. This game is made by an almost utterly different team.
