I love the fact that John is presenting it with a pint in his hand. What a legend. This man got so much shit from everyone because they knew there be no TT without him. Nobody digs until John and his team have done their jobs.

I'm sure John is confident in the knowledge that TT respects exactly how Geophys made the 3 day dig possible. They were able to get more ambitious over time because of the advances made in Geophys technology. And Tim and Mick for sure said so in so many words.

Tony said that after a shooting a show that failed, they were having a coffee and Tim mentioned it would be great to able to do a TT style show, but digging would take forever. Mick told him it could be done in 3 days because of GeoPhys. There would be no TT without it.
He says this in a opener for a DigVenture event, it's on the channel.

you guys love to poke at eachother like brothers, but what about mick and matt, and raksha (sp?) who are always positive and constructive? It'll be great to see as many of you as possible in the upcoming weeks. and brit, and knee-high? ne- nai- shoot I just remember she said she was 4-8 or 4-9 3/4 and I dug that because I'm 6'1 3/4s and will never claim 6'2". I'm really looking forward to the new digs and as many old faces as you can get there, along with the new faces that are showing interest. To john, about 10 years ago I went diving cenotes in the yucatan peninsula near cozumel island. Our guide expressed that he was constantly searching for new caverns so he could buy the land and establish a new diving site, and that the mexican military had already "scanned" the site from airplanes and had identified thousands of miles of caverns below the forest. Is this something that you can use with drones at lower altitude? Is this something that would be harmful to plants and animals? I still think farmers should start attaching sensors to their plows if we can just loan them to them. Hope to see you soon, and say hi to phil. I've seen the "ugly people" sign many times in our brit owned local pubs along with "please don't leave your butts in the urinal. it makes them soggy, and hard to light" you certainly have your own sense of humor. in mexico, they also had "if you put your cigarette out on a plate, we will serve you on an ashtray"

Very droll Mr Gator. I would have liked a clearer shot of the screen though. I couldn't really see it. But I have learned to appreciate every members specialist field in the science of archaeology by watching Time Team and it has improved my knowledge of what is required to achieve a high level of accuracy in archaeological data. From the presenter to the average student digger every member plays an important role in the science and the finds bring to life various epochs of the past. In some cases I have found it fascinating how the finds have either embroidered a clearer picture of an event such as The Battle of Waterloo to improve the understanding of what actually happened. Equally interesting is when the finds debunk old historical accounts of events as unlikely, impossible or incorrect and sculpted for political reasons. Well done and best wishes for the festive season.

Why didn’t they film the screen. Who sets up on a pile of bags. Maybe they were sharing John’s cans. Spoilt what would have been a great presentation.

As stated by Tony in his autobiography, which you can now buy wink wink, the whole reason they got away with pitching time team was mick telling Tim because of this tech from wwii an almost unknown and completely under utilized thing called geophys could be used to pinpoint an area they need to dig so it could be in in 3 days.
