- Without suitable double block isolation tools installed locally at both sides of a damaged pipeline; it will be necessary to depressurise the entire section of pipeline to allow safe removal and repair by installing a new pipeline section. STATS’ emergency pipeline repair system developed for a Gulf States operator features two Remote Tecno Plugs incorporating rear test modules. In the event of damage to the pipeline these piggable isolation tools are on standby and can be deployed quickly to isolate the damaged section allowing safe repair.
These isolation plugs have been engineered to negotiate a pipeline dent (less than 10%) allowing both Tecno Plugs to be pigged from the platform to the damaged location and once the repair has taken place can be pigged to the beach for recovery. The rear test modules of the isolation tools also allow the new section to be pressure tested after repair.
The primary reason for an EPRS is to ensure rapid response, minimising environmental and commercial impact by ensuring resumption of full production as soon as possible. STATS EPRS and subsea services provide fully engineered emergency pipeline repair equipment, designed, manufactured and maintained in a state of readiness in accordance with client specifications.
