- USC's defense has been one of the bigger surprises of the season at the halfway point. But the injury list is getting bigger and after Tuesday's practice, everyone found out that Anthony Lucas and Erig Gentry were going to be done for the rest of the season with injury. I have the scoop in the first segment.
Physically, USC has more than held its own going against one of the tougher schedules in its first 6 games. But now the depth chart on defense is being tested. I'll tell you who the next guys up are in the rotation and it will affect playing time.
In the final segment, I take a first look at USC's next opponent, the Maryland Terrapins whose head coach Mike Locksley believes matches up well against the Trojans.

I completely support Eric Gentry sitting out this year. Concussions are a serious threat to your long term health forget football. This season is done in terms of the CFP or a Big 10 championship. I’m excited for the younger players to get a chance. Next season we could have the younger players back with more experience and have Gentry and Lucas back for their senior seasons
Eric Gentry is the best player by the team and not even close.
Hey Marc, how many of USC's injuries were caused by cheap/illegal shots taken and not called by the refs? Anthony Lucas' knees are just the latest of many. You can see his knees getting hyper-extended, hurts just watching and sucks for him losing the rest of the season.
Big Ten has targeted our guys. So unfair. They better be ready when this team heals up!!!!!
@@terencehunt4770 I'm sure refs have a type of Qualified Immunity protection, but SC should sue them for incompetence. We cannot continue to have kids' careers altered because of inept referees.

We have suffered horrible refereeing and kids leaving or getting hurt, I had really high expectations for this season but reality has struck home!
Why aren’t we running any DL stunts? Obviously bull-rushing isn’t working! Is anyone being taught NFL-style moves (swim moves, etc.)?
It’s time to let everyone play. Let’s see what the future brings. I’m sure there will be some positive. It’s an opportunity for those that weren’t receiving reps to showcase what they got. Seize the moment and take over 1st team reps.

Apparently, if you’re new to the big conference, there’s a waiting period for you to earn those flags. There’s a stat that went out for Nebraska where they had. It had an offensive holding penalty called for them until about nine years into the conference, so this conference will show to teams that have been there longer.
@@aaronlee5656 yeah of course they're not going to welcome us with open arms we didn't expect that but the the penalties they're calling on us are so insane and then the ones that they're not calling for us it's ridiculous! We knew we would get screwed but I mean these calls cost us games
@@fredtheveteran4623 that’s what I mean. We are going to have to beat these teams by 10-14 points just to win by 3 because of the bias with the refs. It happening to every new team besides Oregon (they don’t wanna piss off Phil Knight). It’s just how they’re gonna call it so we have to be extremely discipline to where nothing can be left to the refs and always be 10 to 14 points better than the team we’re gonna play or we keep losing by three because of the referees.

Marc USC was not ready for the Big Ten this season. We need more depth and development as we have a young team. Maybe next season will be better.
Morning Marc, I don't think EG plays if USC is 4-2, you don't mess around with concussions that happen in such a short period of time.

But our Basketball team began a new Era yesterday in an exhibition game coached by Eric Musselman, one of the BEST coaches in the business...
USC won by 21 and Saint Thomas who will be our star player scored 21 pts on 7-8 shooting with 6 rebounds...St did this in only 20 minutes...
Our Trojans are playing an exciting High energy style of game...
I'm still amazed that as we enter what could potentially be a major turning point for USC basketball...Our locked on daily podcast refuses to give any coverage...

I hope gentry & Lucas both speedy recoveries come back next year stronger. The bright side is we get them both next year because this season is over. I’m also excited to see Kam fountain and the young players
Marc, you’re the only content creator that has brought up Riley might have too much on his plate. It’s obvious he needs to improve on game management and game preparation. Maybe having him in more of a CEO role will allow him to improve in those areas. It’s definitely something to consider

It’s the worse officiating I’ve ever seen. Even the cbs announcers mentioned it they know it’s been horrible. Where’s the big 10 explanation
With 3 loses, the remaining games are nothing more than glorified scrimmages - use them to prepare for next season

We ca only control what we can-our recruiting has been sub par both in talent and depth. We were behind the curve on NIL and transfer portal, our talent assessment has not been elite by any means. And there re the new era things like Monheim moving to center to keep him here to benefit his draft options (but we lost an eleit LT and have a “good” OC) and promises of PT made to Zach branch . Riley cant control those.

Well as I have said for 10 months, we are headed for 7-5, 6-6, that neighborhood. Sure loss to ND = 3-4, & UW, Rut& Neb are all coin flips making us 6-4, 5-5, 4-6, or worse. That leaves ucla and Mary.
Mary: They only give up 100 YPG rushing, throw for twice as many 1st downs as rushing, have 8 INT takeaways and are good on 3rd down to extend ToP. They score 30 and allow low 20s, just like we do. Let's see what creative way we find to lose to THESE guys, burying us at the bottom of the B1G 18. Those thinking we win out are huffing paint behind a 7-11 dumpster.
