Thank you. This video has a few small mistakes which is why I never made it public. I made it as fast as I could. It kept getting views being unlisted so I let it out of the bag because it might be helpful to someone.
This video was hidden away in the vault for 3 months. I flew too slow during the approach and made another mistake and decided to make it private because it wasn't up to standard. Either way, it's good people like it and it was decided to make it public because it might benefit others.
I’ve actually switched to the TDS version of this GPS. I may do a video on the TDS version in the near future that would be used similar to the PMS version.
Again thank you for sharing... IRL I fly the gtn 750 in the 172, so in my sim xplane I use reality xp and msfs2020 I use pms50 gtn 750. I am thinking on starting my instrument rating... these afternoon Orlando thunderstorms are terrible....
You should strongly consider an instrument rating if you fly a decent amount or fly longer cross countries. You’ll learn a lot and be able to utilize your license more. Instrument training is not hard. Some new stuff but the basics you learned as a student pilot are always there. I had the most fun with an instrument rating and got a lot out of it when I did mine. Yes, afternoon storms in Orlando are awful as well as the heat and humidity ALL DAY there in the summer.
@@thecorporatepilotdad I did get my instrument rating on vatsim last year during the pandemic... lol. I agree and yes I do a lot of cross country flying building my time prior to the summer..... I might try that WT CJ4 mode today on stream, love your video the other day....
@@PilotDaveAviation Do you do live streams often? I take it that’s what you meant by trying it on stream. The CJ4 WTM is the best thing on MSFS. Oh, and any airplane by Just Flight or PMDG.
@@thecorporatepilotdad yes sir that's what I meant, I stream on twitch m.twitch.tv/daverendon Thanks for the info sir... maybe one day you can be a guest, and go over the cj4 ?
@@PilotDaveAviation possibly. I fly a larger Citation but I’ve never flown the CJ4 but I do have all the training and procedures manuals along with normal and emergency checklist for it. I’m well versed with the FMS. I’ll have to check out one of your streams - I was looking through some of your RUclips videos earlier.
Nice thanks. My issue is no matter what I do the AP wont follow the magenta line in GPS mode. Im flying right on top of the magenta line and he just flies off.
Assuming your flying the Arrow, try this video. Make sure the mode selector knob is in NAV. How to Use the Just Flight Piper Arrow Autopilot in Microsoft Flight Simulator ruclips.net/video/X9pMrKvYkH8/видео.html. The issue you’re having could be the result of a recent sim update. I’ll try it out on my sim.
I had a hard time understanding ILS in this plane at first. The needles don't work the same way as in the C172 (for some odd reason). In the Arrow the "altitude needle" is locked to the middle of the left side of the gauge whereas in the C172 it moves freely.
There are two needles. The vertical oriented needle is the localizer needle which gives left right guidance. The horizontal needle gives vertical guidance which leads down the glide slope on an ILS. Make sure the correct frequency is entered as well as the correct nav source is selected on the GPS. The choices are GPS and VLOC. Make sure VLOC is selected. Hope that helps.
Thanks, mate! It was as much for specifically the glide slope, as for VORs in general, but there are aircraft that have a glideslope on OBS 2 as well, like the default C172 I think
It’s not scary. The airplane doesn’t know it’s in bad weather. Take it down to decision altitude and continue to a landing or go missed. It’s when people go below decision altitude trying to make it in that is scary.
WOW, almost went FULL SCALE DEFLECTION on your Glide Slope, really chasing it. You got to do better than that. Better to be higher on a GS then LOW the whole way, Come on now!!
You should be able to select the default GPS in the iPad located on the right side of the cockpit. Toggle the Intercom switch in the right side of the panel to get it to show up.

Thank you for this awesome video! I was forgetting to take the autopilot out of NAV mode and into localizer mode.

Fantastic video. Can’t wait for me. So easy to understand

Really good video for me and my 750 equipped arrow. Using the 750 to accomplish a course reversal on an approach, ILS or other, would be helpful too.

I saw where the CDI was changed from GPS to VLOC. An important step that should warrant mention?
I have covered that in other videos. I am pretty sure the GTN 750 will also do a nav-to-nav transfer.
Nice, thanks. What's this about clicking on the Piper logo? Why?
In the JustFlight version of the Arrow for MSFS, clicking the Piper logo activates altitude hold as that AP in real life does not have altitude hold.
@@thecorporatepilotdad I totally forgot about that! Thanks.
And how about when you want to use Nav2? How do you choose that?
Input the frequency on the #2 radio below the GPS. Nav 2 wouldn’t be used for an ILS because it doesn’t have a glide slope indicator.
Thanks, mate!

how did you get the GTN 730/750 in the VC?
You can change avionics with the iPad. The GTN 750 was installed at the time and that was one of the three choices of avionics combinations.
WOW, almost went FULL SCALE DEFLECTION on your Glide Slope, really chasing it. You got to do better than that. Better to be higher on a GS then LOW the whole way, Come on now!!
Please stop confusing real-life flying with Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Seems to me the gps you have is a payware 3rd party but are there a way to install a msfs default gps>?
You should be able to select the default GPS in the iPad located on the right side of the cockpit. Toggle the Intercom switch in the right side of the panel to get it to show up.
@@thecorporatepilotdad Thanks again. Found it.
