I've got two garrett GTX 3076s with a tight A/R on my 455 Trans Am, and the "experts" told me they were too restrictive for my 455. But I can burn my 335 tires from 55-100mph in 3rd gear. My point is, for the street it is better to get that boost up quicker. It makes the car more driveable and more fun (but possibly slower on the track). It looks like you may be running a tight A/R as well. I am looking forward to the test and tune.
Awesome to see Garrett support the build. Custom turbo setups are well outside of my wheelhouse so I'll enjoy being a spectator on this one. Really cool to see the placement being nice and low and almost in the trunk to maximize the CG.
If you want to get better low-end spooling and reduce lag, you may want to see if Garrett makes an exhaust scroll and matching turbine for a twin-scroll turbo. This will require some custom exhaust headers to go to the split turbo flange, since it calls for matching cylinders based on firing order to reduce the risk of exhaust gas reversion and, thus allows the matched power pulses to better scavenge exhaust gasses and increase turbo efficiency. The only problem I've heard of regarding the twin-scroll design is that if you use one with too small of an exhaust scroll you can choke out your engine under high RPM because the turbo just can't accept the amount of exhaust gasses being forced into it, so it's a somewhat delicate balancing act between a compact enough exhaust scroll that you get good low RPM gains, but large enough that you aren't limiting your engine's performance at the top of the rev range where it typically makes the most power.
I enjoy grabbing a coffee and seeing that yellow Ferrari numb nail 👍 those Garret turbos are nice and I now understand why the gas tank isn’t at the back. Lol Tuesday’s episode was excellent! I really liked the custom panels around the frunk compartment... That car will be a “Sema” quality car for sure!
oh man, was really hoping you were aiming for something like 400hp to whip around a track. 1000hp in this thing is just overkill and less enjoyable. Still love watching your videos and this build is so entertaining. Best of luck my man
Respect for this whole damn project and pushing through the negative comments from purists, you will have the most fun to drive 308 ever, can't wait to see a video of it hissing and spitting fire!
I really like the idea of being able to swap between two turbo setups. What are you ideas for creating a manifold that will accept both turbos? Keep up the good work!
I’ll be honest in saying that side of things is beyond my knowledge. This is my first turbo. But it’s what Garrett supplied me with. So you’ll have to ask them.
@@stanceworks That's how it looks to me too. Check from Garrett that you have the right parts. It would make sense that the logos face out when they're correctly installed so that would indicate that the hot side it for a "left handed" turbo.
Not only am I enjoying the progress of the build but also the progress of the “patina” on your hat. That thing was fresh on episode 1. Also would love to see some future standing mile runs.
Following your project since the beginning and is by far the most interesting project in YT 'till now. My two concerns so far are, (1) the nasty flex of that old spaceframe squared chassis and (2) the air pressure under the hood. Great work so far!
Yeah I should think taking a load of mass out and adding 3 times the standard power should be adequate. Remember to wire the big turbo to contact your laundry provider direct.
@307Driftwood But I thought Mike want this car to be street friendly too ? Racing gearboxes are normally very loud, not good in traffic, have a short service life & high service cost... that isn't friendly. Also 1000 HP = 'x' NM (I don't know the calc) which particular model of those racing transmission brands listed is rated for that torque load transversely ?
This build is completely about polarization to the extreme. Removing a Ferrari OEM V8 is blasphemy. But installing one of the greatest I4 is not... from one of the greatest engine makers in the world: Honda. People will either hate it or love it. Personally, I don't know what to think to large degree. With the wide body kit and the K24... yes, I like it... it's being tastefully done... it's just that it's a truly an insane build... and almost maddening to the point of genius. There is no doubt this takes a lot of ingenuity and thinking out of the box.
So i just found your channel via the Ford truck build and have been powering thru these videos. Have you considered getting a red valve cover to kind of tie the Honda/Ferrari idea together? Maybe you have an i haven't got there yet. Really enjoying the videos!!
This journey has been fun! What are you going to show the Ferrari guys? This has nothing to do with Ferrari at this point.... With the exception that I am tuning in because 308s are so beautiful. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see it running.
Dude they’ve totally sent you the wrong housing. That’s a mirror image exhaust housing. They’ve sent you the wrong side. Loving this series by the way.
I’m surprised there isn’t that much views on this build as I thought it would be. I just thought of someone putting a k series in a Ferrari so I searched it up and found this
If you are using two different turbos then why over size the 600hp capable one? You risk leaving some midrange power on the table as well as potentially having some issues with surge if you go to high altitude races (ex. Pikes peak). Seems you could have gotten to the same power potential with a smaller compreasor
Why you don't put the turbo over the gearbox? Then you have with a water charge air cooler a very short suction path. And with a suction on the roof to the turbo you get a ram air effect.
Mostly because I’ve seen the dyno charts between a sidewinder manifold (like you’re discussing) and one like I’m looking at. On Amir’s NSX, we went from one to the other and picked up 60hp from the manifold design alone.
this may sound crazy but since this is a crazy build... Have you considered a water to air intercooler so you only need to run thinner water lines to the front? OR... do an AC/air intercooler like a hellcat has since those things seem to be built for 900hp anyways
i can't believe you unpacked not one but TWO turbos without reaching in and spinning it!? with a turbo that large, are you going to do the whole 2-step thing to keep it spooled up before you take off? with the smaller turbo this may not be necessary but for the biggin' this seems the way to go? will the transmission be build to handle that kind of power? not sure if you discussed this?
What is the size of the turbine? 0.83, 0.96, etc…? I have a project on a 4.1 liter six-cylinder Chevrolet engine and I intend to install this turbocharger.
This is my favourite car build online at the moment. You doing a great job. Keep it up
Just found about this build like yesterday and I’ve binged watched almost all of the episodes 😅

This build is one of the more educational ones I've ever seen. Thank you for breaking everything down and filming what you can.
Awesome to see Garrett support the build. Custom turbo setups are well outside of my wheelhouse so I'll enjoy being a spectator on this one. Really cool to see the placement being nice and low and almost in the trunk to maximize the CG.
Holy crap dude. This build is amazing, but now, NOW it's gone to ridiculous
Agree a drivers car is more than just speed, that is why people are still demanding manual clutch transmissions in 911s, even though much slower.

Good lord I was not expecting that much power. I'm hyped!
Compound turbos for the win
Holy power, did not expect that much! This thing will ripppp!!
This is the best build currently on RUclips . I’m really enjoying watching this. Nice work !!
Thanks for the closed caption! Thumbs UP!!!
Just the type of build I would do for an NA1 NSX! You Sir, get a million likes!

The 4p engine is gonna be sick
That instagram post is GOLD 🤣🤣🤣 Can't wait to see the next episode!!
This went from awesome to ridiculous super fast!! Agree, 600/650 is perfect!
I really like the idea of being able to swap between two turbo setups. What are you ideas for creating a manifold that will accept both turbos? Keep up the good work!
it looks like the housings are facing the same direction, which wouldn’t work. Did you put the the exhaust housing on the wrong way?
I’ll be honest in saying that side of things is beyond my knowledge. This is my first turbo. But it’s what Garrett supplied me with. So you’ll have to ask them.

I agree with this post . I wrote the same thing and then read this so I deleted mine. It’s definitely supposed to rotate opposite direction.
I was thinking the same thing looking to see if anyone else commented this
Not only am I enjoying the progress of the build but also the progress of the “patina” on your hat. That thing was fresh on episode 1.
Also would love to see some future standing mile runs.
I'm sorry to disappoint, but I have a LOT of identical hats haha. Some clean, some filthy. Its luck of the draw.
@@stanceworks LOL I was thinking it was the same hat the entire time. No worries.
So stoked I stumbled upon this build!!!
So cool garret is on board on this. Love the build! Keep on doing what you do
I want stability in America so that we can see Mike finish this car and drive it!
Congratulations on your turbo! so happy for you and the project!
Following your project since the beginning and is by far the most interesting project in YT 'till now. My two concerns so far are, (1) the nasty flex of that old spaceframe squared chassis and (2) the air pressure under the hood. Great work so far!
Itll definitely flex. Worst case, I’ll fully cage the car.
Pumped to have found the channel. Had followed on other media for years.
That's going to be brutal. 5* approved!
You had twins! They're adorable 💕. Congratulations 🥳
🦁 squental Transmission
I am soo looking forward to the first start up... it's going to be a track monster...
Great job ..
Interested to see how you will design the exhaust/intake and other plumbing to accept two different turbos.
This thing is definitely gonna make a lot of waves. Wow!
It's rumored that you can get 600hp from a stock k24 with a turbo. I prefer the way you're doing it for ultimate reliability.
Yeah I should think taking a load of mass out and adding 3 times the standard power should be adequate. Remember to wire the big turbo to contact your laundry provider direct.
👍👍 Please keep it classy, with original classic looks, but with modern technology.
Nope
*WHOOOOOOOSHHHHHH, zut zut zut toooo* I can hear the zut zut train coming now baby woo! So exciting man!
The turbo will Need a sump if mounted low
Very cool.
Maybe off-setting the turbo slightly to the left to distribute weight better?
Sick plans man!!!!
fraternal twins. congrats.
BIG BOOSTY BOIII
I think you might have mounted the exhaust side of the turbo the wrong way
Short but sweet!
What transverse transmission can take that kinda power, especially with track use ?
@307Driftwood Really ?
@307Driftwood But I thought Mike want this car to be street friendly too ? @307Driftwood thanks for your reply. Well we’ll see how the build goes 👍
Looks awesome, please share costs on everything 👍 especially the four piston build. Thanks
Awesome.

Totally awesome! Any kind of “quick change rear end” coming ?
This journey has been fun! What are you going to show the Ferrari guys? This has nothing to do with Ferrari at this point.... With the exception that I am tuning in because 308s are so beautiful. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see it running.
I dunno man honestly I’m just yapping and excited.
Yes Nice!
That is a beautiful sight (hope you got a pair for the pickup at the same time?) ,
Dude they’ve totally sent you the wrong housing. That’s a mirror image exhaust housing. They’ve sent you the wrong side.
Loving this series by the way.
Looks like the wrong direction turbine housing??
Can you get those big numbers without changing intake and exhaust manifolds? And downpipes?
My goodness!!! With that amount of hp you should have spare set of gear ratio for Bonneville?
Won't it be super laggy though especially for circuit racing?
I need that moter n Turbo in my nissan hardbody 😎😎😎
Can you build a carbon roof scoop for this plzzzzz?
🚀 love this project
Snail power makes "Stu tu tu" noises.😎
Nice 👍🏾

How long before you realized the exhaust housing was reverse rotation?
This got some vibes of Lancia S4... Is there place in engine department for twin-charged engine? Asking for the friend.
The guys from bad obsession Motorsports need to pay you a visit.
Can you turn the turbo on/off to save gas on long trips?
Any idea when that driving line vid is coming out??
An excessive clutch will be needed for that "once in a while" 1000whp run.
That ‘ relatively large turbo charger ‘ looks like a off on switch.
I’m surprised there isn’t that much views on this build as I thought it would be. I just thought of someone putting a k series in a Ferrari so I searched it up and found this
Any news on a rollcage and if it will be integrated into the chassis/suspension pickup points?
For now the car will only get a very simple bolt in cage.
..will the transaxle survive?

You might be right! Garrett spec’d the turbo so it’s what I went with. If need be I can always drop down.
First guy I've ever heard saying he doesn't want more powa..... amazing build tho!
😲
That's all.
😁

@@stanceworks apparently I missed a video haha
That g42 is so beautiful! Are you planning on using wiggins style clamps for the intake and exhaust piping?
He should check into the Alphaloc clamps from Linder Power Systems.
I’ll probably be using Vibrant HD clamps
Woo she's gonna fly haha wonder what the fuel system will be like :D
Expected more from Garrett‘s packaging style haha 😆
nah, then they ll pass on the cost of packaging design to buyers.
Ok no humor on YT comments then
Garrett's packaging department is focused on the metal bits ;-) hahaha
What do you expect from a company that’s bankrupt? 🤦♂️
Garrett took a turn for the worse when they broke off from Honeywell 2 years ago.
