    This is great. I have thrown away many tweezers because I didn't know sharpening was so easy.
    No more!

    Omg, DUH! Thank you!
    Why didn't I think of sharpening them myself??!
    I have a bunch of tweezers- all brands. I don't know which brand is best. They ALL go dull with usage, just like knives.
    I sent my Tweezerman for the FREE sharpening- (You print out the form on their website and mail them in.) Easy!
    You don't have to have a receipt. (Who would have those receipts on hand?!)
    HOWEVER, Getting around to mailing them is a different matter!
    Thank you for showing me how to do it myself!

      personally I like tweezer man myself. That said the better the sharpener the long the sharpening will last e.g. a metal rasp will create a longer sharpening experience than an emery board.

    I have soooo many tweezers, oldest ones i own must be 15 years old. I've struggled to use all of them, didn't want to buy new ones and I've been thinking I should google a place to get them sharpened. Well didn't know that place was my bathroom. I've had everything needed all this time. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼 I don't get it how us humans are so smart but then don't figure out the simplest things by ourselves 😂

    The nail cutter part was so helpful. I never knew what those "grooves" were for, I thought for grip or something but even if it was, it had a pretty cool use for it.

    I’m so thankful I googled if sharpening tweezers was a thing and came across this cause I was getting really tired of spending $40 on a new pair of tweezers every time they dulled out

    Just tried this a couple weeks ago. I learned to take a small strip of 220 and 400 grit sandpaper. Fold each piece in half and pull tweezers across like in video. Go to 400 grit when the sharpened edges match or close to matching. I use folded over sandpaper because this matches the sharpened surfaces to each other better and leaves no gap. Also do outer front tweezer surface until matching. My wife's tweezers are working better than new. We even sharpen the extra new ones she had out of pack bc manufacturer edges are crap. My wife couldn't believe she hasn't heard of this before. Thanks for the video. Every husband should know this because of the huge wife loves hubby even more bonus points! 😆

    I'm going out later, it's Easter Sunday so no where is open. Went to touch up my brows and no grip! Went from "I'll pluck those few strays" to "My nights ruined!" Pretty quick. Jump on RUclips and my fairy brow mother is sat there's waiting with this gem!!! Was so simple I was skeptical it would be enough, it's renewed my Tweezerman tweezers to as good as new. Thanks you so much x

    I usually use 2,000 grit wet sandpaper. My dad who was a machinist taught me to go sideways so that any striations (there shouldn't be with 2,000 or higher) in the surface go across what you are trying to grip. If doing it without water he said to it in a circular motion.

      Why wet sandpaper?
      It's only benefit is it doesn't crumble when wet, as far as I understand it.

    • @CamppattonFamilyCompound
      @CamppattonFamilyCompound Год назад +1

      @@TingTingalingy There are very important reasons for wet sandpaper and it has nothing to do with the fact that the paper will not "crumble" as you say when wet. Wet sand paper is designed to work wet. The wet (whether water or oil) is an important lubricant for working metal and carrying the metal particles away so they do not interfere with the working of the metal. Wet sandpaper is a higher quality sanding paper and come in finer grits than dry only sandpaper.

    • @TingTingalingy
      @TingTingalingy Год назад

      @@CamppattonFamilyCompound coming in the finer grits is to afford wet sanding abilities.
      But eh, wet sanding paper is an unnecessary expense, situation depending.
      Few in industry use it unless necessary due to it being more costly.
      That aside, offering higher grits doesn't mean superior product.

    • @CamppattonFamilyCompound
      @CamppattonFamilyCompound Год назад

      @@TingTingalingy It is not an unnecessary expense. You need to have the proper grit to do the job right. You are very incorrect when you say that "few in the industry use it". Actually most in the industry use it so they don't ruin the metal that they are working. Finer grit sandpaper does mean it is a superior product, because there are higher standards for it. Certain brands of paper are better than others but those that make the very fine grit paper usually make better course sandpaper too. You need the finer grit sandpaper when working metal.

    This is awesome ! Thank you but what am I doing wrong ??? I use Tweezerman because they are the only and the best tweezers that can grip and pull out my super thick stubborn Pili multigemini facial spikes 😢
    I sharpened my tweezerman (all of a sudden they can’t grip NOTHING!!! ) and still won’t grip any hair ! Help??

    • @OldSchoolPrepper
      @OldSchoolPrepper  2 месяца назад

      I am going to guess that both sides of the tweezer were not sharpened at the same angle. Think of it like sharpening a knife, if it's done wrong the blade will be dulled and not sharpened. Knives need to be held at the proper angle (usually 45 degrees). With Tweezers (I have Tweezerman as my 2nd set) one can just use an emergy board, press both sides of the tweezer together and pull the emery board through. What did you use to sharpen (metal emergy board? regular sand paper?) and did you sharpen each side individually or both at the same time? I'm gong to guess the sides are not sharpened equally. First thing, close the tweezers together and put on some magnification glasses (or magnifiers would even be better) and see if where the problems are. That said Tweezerman sharpens their tweezers for free so send them in: www.tweezerman.com/fsformnv

    Good job,
    I would like to add a comment though. Instead of pulling out towards the open end, simply go sideways with the tips....This leaves any grip lines that appear sideways and more useful for a better grip! Also filing the top edges as even as possible. Thanks, any comments???

    • @OldSchoolPrepper
      @OldSchoolPrepper  2 года назад +1

      hi Rick, I sharpen my own knives and tools so when I think of someone grinding down on the end of a tool (even a tweezers) it makes me cringe because they probably don't know at what angle the tips should be on a tweezer and can change the degree of edge, even if they know what the angle should be will they know what that looks like and be able to do it? I would hand sharpen a knife the way you are talking about however there are even degree differences in which type of knife is being sharpened. I say most folks should stick with the easier methods...but maybe you put out a video on this topic and I can watch it to see if it's better/easier? My way certainly is NOT the only way....for sure. Thanks for the comment.

    I must be the only one unsuccessful at this task. I have 100's of tweezers, from cheap to overpriced and overrated. The tip is so intricate it is important when sharpening that it must be 100% accurate and even. Sharpened on the right angle and never forgetting a final smoothing of the end so ensure they are flush. I was not dainty enough to create a tip identical to the original tweezers. Now, lol, I must say, I was taught to use a small sharpening stone, opposite of a rasp, and it'd depend on the different angles tweezers can be used, how tiny the hairs are but no success and I am just yet to find the perfect tweezers.

    • @OldSchoolPrepper
      @OldSchoolPrepper  9 месяцев назад +2

      personally I like Tweezerman...the better the steel, the harder they are to sharpen. Medical grade steel certainly needs a good rasp or a professional sharpener....people that sharpen knives will sometimes sharpen tweezers too. IF you can't find one, i'd look for a professional who sharpens hospital surgical equipment . This video is more for the average tweezer sets. This particular pair (in the video) are Ansatsia Beverly Hills....great tweezers and lasted a decade befor I had to sharpen them.
