    Enjoyed Xalapa very much and the academic, art atmosphere was great. I do encourage, and it’s my opinion, to not air bnb only because it’s turned neighborhoods upside down. I do hotel rooms, it could be about the same or cheaper if you plan well and sometimes I’m okay with paying extra. It’s the principle.

    • @EatBailaTravel

      True, AirBnB has really skewed rent rates for locals

    You two are adorable! I am an American that lived in Xalapa for 8 years. I love that city. The whole area around xalapa too. All the small towns and hidden places that only the locals know. In the cool mountains and valleys. One of my fave restaurants is a fish taco place way up on the side of a mountain. They funnel water from the mountain stream into tanks where they grow trout in clear, clean always moving water. Your fish is the freshest fish you will ever eat. A few bottles of indio and it was heaven on earth. Tables right next to the stream in the woods on the mountainside. I miss it so much. I had to leave a couple years ago. Thank you for this vid. Very well done. Subbed on the first vid.

    What's the humidity like in Veracruz? Did a mission trip to Victoria, Tamps. once. And humidity was very manageable.

      Xalapa humidity is manageable but the closer you get to the beach the hotter it gets. Veracruz puerto is SUPER HUMID.

    My gf and her family are from there. I really like the Xalapa area but she does not (for other reasons) she likes the food culture and scenery there but not living there.

    Do you feel like food, activities, night life, etc seems comparable to puerto escondido

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  Год назад

      Not really, Puerto Escondido has become more touristy but vibes are great in both places but significantly different due to one is a beach town and the other is a college town. Both offer great food, activities but the night life and weather are very different.

    I've traveled throughout Mexico for several years. After visiting a couple towns/cities. It's almost all the same thing! Food, food, park, people. No variations?

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  Год назад

      But the food isn’t the same everywhere. The parks aren’t the same. Also there are waterfalls, cenotes, canyons, wineries, coffee farms, pyramids… maybe you haven’t found those places yet.

    What's the best way to get here from Houston?

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  Год назад +1

      Houston flight to CDMX and then a bus to Xalapa

    • @michaelducey1133
      @michaelducey1133 Год назад +1

      there's a flight from Houston to the port of veracruz, then it's a short bus ride from veracruz to the xalapa, an hour and 20 minutes. Buses leave from the main station every 20 minutes or so. There is even a bus from the veracruz airport to Xalapa. The bus line is ADO

    If you're a tourist, it's okay for like 2-3 days, but then it gets pretty lame pretty quickly as there's nothing exciting left to discover about this town and it feels very provincial despite its number of inhabitants. I've been here for several weeks to visit my gf who's doing a semester abroad. To be honest, I'm bored to death, the climate is a disaster and the food is giving me constant diarrhea. The people are very friendly and helpful but nevertheless there's absolutely no reason to spend a lot of time in Xalapa if you have the opportunity to travel to other places in Mexico instead.
