In this video I show how Remo+ DoorCam won't work on outward-swinging doors, and I show a modification that I've done on several units to get it to work on such doors. The video shows everything from start to finish in real time. Feel free to scroll past the boring parts ;-)
By the way, it goes without saying but my lawyer would probably want me to remind everyone to PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK! THE CREATOR OF THIS VIDEO ASSUMES NO LIABILITY FOR THE INFORMATION PROVIDED!

a cell phone battery charger can be connected to the Remo + for more autonomy or duration of video doorbell operation

AHA great point! Yes, the energy density of Lithium Ion is several times that of Alkaline.

DoorCam2 has an AC adapter connection. It's the "over-the-door" concept that is the big selling point. You might want to get one of those metal "over-the-door" wreath hangers, and hack it up to make a camera mount system for whatever you have...

Remo should send you factory versions of your modifications and even a free unit. Well done William!

Update: The new version of this device has the bracket, but not sure if the bracket fits the old model or is being offered for sale or complimentary replacement. (Side note, this device did not function properly when I attempted to install it. So and I returned it. Not so sure about buying the new version for a second chance. I did see mixed reviews but decided to take a chance. Buyer beware!

I just had this issue when installing a Ring camera on a door in Florida. A lot of doors open outwards in Fl because of hurricane winds blowing open inward doors

Great modification 👍 Great to see someone with ingenuity to fix and helpful to share the info with others. I wonder if there’s a way to do the same (over the door/battery powered) but with a Wyze cam which is cheaper at just $25 per camera and has pretty decent video quality. Or heck, even a raspberry pi with cam. My kid did one of those but need to plug it in.

I have many Ring products myself as well. Generally the Ring products are more flexible in some ways, but they also typically use screws as an attachment means.

If that's what it takes -- and if there's nothing already on the market to serve your needs, then why not? ;-)

Sure, we've got a few like that too. The technique works on those, however we found the signal is attenuated by such doors so the WIFI source will need to be either near or strong.

Why go thru all of that just for a camera that doesn't even work properly. That model sucks

I've purchased (and subsequently modified) a total of four of these. I found that they actually work pretty well, and are the easiest to hang over a door.
