I picked up a 1947 maple leaf cent yesterday from my cash drawer.I was excited to see it and was glad to buy it because I don't see many Canadian coins down here south of the border. Thanks for a great video.
Woah that's really cool I have a 1963 nickel also that I noticed to have a much more mint state finish. I decided to keep it from my other 1960's nickels and honestly I didn't think it was that huge but after seeing this I'm pretty happy. Cool finds btw 2005 Victory Nickel is my favourite
Nice finds. Stunning 1963. A hopping cool 1967. Oh yeah, low mintage 2000-P, and pair of 1991. Wishing you found another 1996 attached "6". Maybe next time. lol. Neat you found the two varieties of 1977. A good way to educate us, the viewers. Still missing that 2005 Victory commemorative. Mintage is about 59.2M. Why is it tough to find? Coin album looking great!
A US Silver nickel is something I'd love to find! Actually, there are some silver nickels that come as Canadian collector issues - finding one of those would be incredible!
Should be able to melt pennies since the are not in circulation anymore. I did a toonie hunt the other day and was shorted $43 . Odd number, yes, one roll had a loonie. You could say I wasn't happy. I'm going to weigh the customer wrapped before I leave the bank now.
Thanks so much, and welcome to the team! I dont' actually have a merch store - at least not yet! The ony merch I have is channel stickers, but I haven't set anything up for folks to buy them yet. I've been thinking about doing coin roll hunting mats. Any thoughts on other merch? Also, I'd love to know how long you'be veen watching the channel! Thanks again!
I was in Canada a couple of days ago. Was happy to bring some coins back with me. Nothing crazy just modern circulating coinage. I was happy to get a King Charles 2023 nickel, along with 2023 & 2024 King Charles loonies.
We do, but not made of silver. In 1942 and 1943, the Mint released some nickels out of an alloy called tombac (essentially Brass, and gold in colour), and in 1944 adn 1945 nickels were made of chromium-plated steel. This effort to conserve nickel for the war effort happened again during the Koren war when nickels were again minted in chromium-plated steel from 1951-1954 (except for a 1951 issue that commemorated the production of nickel in Canada - they did make that one out of nickel!)
yeah regarding those 100% nickel coins, I really do believe strongly that if you intend to, now is the time to pull em out of your banks and stockpile. My only wish is that I could carry them home faster.
I suppose it might be helpful to avoid unfortunate editing to just to keep a short from going over. But otherwise, I can't actually think of any other good reasons a creator would do this. What do you think?
@@KyleProductions-t4x It's actually true, but the videos have to be in portrait orientation. And they might actually be limited to 2:59. It's also possible it hasn't started just yet. I know they just announced it.
I've searched a couple of boxes and have found some good stuff. The one I am searching now really sucks so far. Nothing older than 2001, no nickel, no 12 edgers...nothing. I guess you have to take the bad with the good. Not even a US nickel, very strange.
@@jeffthescifiguy First off, I only ask for customer wrapped rolls, rather than machine wrapped rolls. By now they know what I'm looking for. Sometimes they'll bring a box out and open it up for me to check. If they're machine wrapped, I don't take it. Having said that, customer wrapped rolls might also have nothing of interest, too, but your chances are much better!
I was at the bank the other day and the teller sorted through a drawer for nickels, he sold me 8 with dates ranging from 1949 - 1962. Nice guy!
Now, that might become your favourite teller!
That cat captions are hilarious!😂
Lol. Thanks! He wouldn't stop wailing in the background!
Nice to catch a nickel hunt! With all those US nickels you’re up at least 30 cents on that box. Thanks for posting CRH, always fun.
Not quite enough yet to pay the gas for a road trip - but it all adds up!!
Great video, James! Love the cameos of Brian, LOL!
Brian's not the biggest fan of my channel - partcularly if it gets in the way of dinner time...

Some stunning upgrades there James! 😃👍

Wow, that's an oldie to find in the register! Nice!
I found a 1962 nickle in my change today!! Oldest coin I've found in my pocket change by far!!
Nice!!
Not a bad hunt. You did find a few goodies.
Thanks! I'll take what I can get in a hunt, for sure!

First! Enjoying yours vids - great guidance for my own coin roll hunting. Keep it up! Thanks.
Thanks, Steve! I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos!
Nice video James! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Cool nickel hunt. I did 1 penny box last week and got a record 26 Canadian pennies in my US penny box. I even had some shiny upgrades.
Wow! How many Canadian pennies would you see on average?
@@CADRollHunter Usually less than 10.
Love nickel hunts; if I only had one denomination to search it would be nickels. Thanks for the recent Sub James!
Thanks! I thought I'd subscribed previously!
Big like number 158! Excellent video and thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching! Have a fantastic day!
It's hard to find silver nickels in this coin hunt. However, I found some American commemorative nickels just a few days ago.

As soon as that box opened I went "Oof" that's a lot of plastic rolls haha - the worst LOL - Poor Brian
Yeah - those plastic rolls are a pain!!

Yikes! $43 short is terrible! Quick way to bankruptcy!
Nice finds. Brian makes an appearance much like Teddy makes the occasional appearance in my videos 🙂
Lol! I tried re-filming the end a few times and gave up. Brian can be very persistent!
I only have a 1964 Canadian Nickel. I'm surprised i haven't found more, since I live in Washington State.
Yeah, that is interesting. You'd definitely expect to find more where you are! Thanks so much for watching!
What is you favourite type of coin to hunt and why?
It's either pennies or nickels (and I think I change my mind regularly!). Largely because it's easiest to find something older. What about you?
Was 1991 low mintage for dimes too? If so, I found a cool one.
Unfortunately not - over 50M minted that year!
@@CADRollHunter thought so.

It's always fun bringing home foreign coins you don't see too often! I do that every time I'm out of the country.
Those're some good nickels there, eh!
lol! Thanks!!
Is that 2000 P nickel magnetic?
Yes. They should all be. Not sure if any non-magnetic slipped through with that P composition mark...
You haven't done a nickel hunt in a long time
I was long past due, for sure!
My record for laureats in a 100 dollar hunt is twelve.
Do you all have anything similar to silver war nickels like we do down here?
We do, but not made of silver. In 1942 and 1943, the Mint released some nickels out of an alloy called tombac (essentially Brass, and gold in colour), and in 1944 adn 1945 nickels were made of chromium-plated steel. I think that's good advice. Nickel is likely to keep going up in price. And 5 cents, well, it's worth less and less every day.
