- Let's search for some Silver Nickels!
I've noticed a significant decline in the amount of silver nickels I'm finding and so I am definitely hoping to see a few in these boxes (or at least one! LOL).
We'll be hunting these boxes of nickels for Silver, Buffalo Nickels, Proof coins, Old Jefferson Nickels, V Nickels and 2009's for their low mintage. We found several nice Early Jefferson Nickels in this two bank box hunt so let's keep our fingers crossed and our eyes open for some goodies!

Hey Rob, thanks to your videos I've learned what the 'tells' for a Silver nickel is and in the past two weeks alone I've found three at work, two in the coin rolls, and one a customer brought in to pay with...
So far I've gotten 3 1943 P's... One of them was toasted though, the edge of it was sheared off so it appeared to 'Step' out from the reverse of the coin to the obverse, I don't know what that silver nickel went through but I think it's time to retire it...
Been looking for them for months, but I never knew they had the massive mint mark at the top of the monticello, that made looking for them so much more easier!...

I was looking for wheat pennies a few days ago and I found a whole roll of wheat pennies having the oldest being a 1929! “Good luck in the future”
I found a '29-s in my pocket change about 3 weeks ago.
That 1939 really did look like a proof to me too.

The 1939 def looks like a proof. I’d send it in for grading. It’s a gamble incase it’s not one, but if it is it’d be worth pretty big bucks even in that condition, and especially so if slabbed.

Monticello has a weak strike. All proofs have full steps. I think it's just a polished coin. Very cool find though!
@James Ostman I dont think so, it would have the reverse of a 1938. The wear patterns are not consistent with the rest of the coin due to striking.
A few days ago at work I was opening a dime roll and said to my co-worker "watch there be silver in this." I said it jokingly because out of countless rolls I've opened I've never gotten one. Sure enough I open it and BOOM. Right in the middle, a 1946 D Rosie. My first ever from a coin roll :).

One time in a box I found a 1915 buffalo nickel and 5 war nickels! One of them was about an au 50 1943 s!

Rob, as always I enjoy the hunt. I believe that 39 is a proof coin. Very good find. In the past two weeks I've received two war nickels in change. Makes me wonder if someone inherited a collection and did a coin dump at one of the local banks.
I was hoping to get some nickels today myself. But long day of work made me late arrived at the bank 4:10 bank closed at 4. Rough day. Good luck hunting!
You made a great point about it being polished between the letters with no ware it is probably a proof

That is a ‘39 proof in my opinion great find (better than a silver nickel) a beautiful coin indeed) I’d give it a details grade though as it appears polished

Hey rob, I've really been liking the recent videos!! Also, I'm diggin the new intro! I found a 42 D in a vending machine recently but it wasn't the silver. Kinda bummed. The 39 P was EPIC! By the way, since I still do have school, I bring change to a vending machine when I have the chance, and I see what comes out. My best find was an off center dime. HAPPY HUNTING!!❤❤

Rob, love the hunt. That 1938 looks amazing! You should probably check it against your collection for a possible upgrade.
I think that the '39 is a proof, but there are a lot of fakes. I think you should send it to PSGS if you can. See what they think. Happy hunting!
I do agree that is a worn proof. Very nice! Wide rim it was! you really have to check on worn proofs. The Rim and the strike will tell you.

Good coin hunt! I believe that is a 1939 proof! Congrats! I never found a proof that old before. Too bad no silvers. My buffalo bank dried up on me. 9 buffalos in the past 4 boxes. 2 silvers in the last box, but 7 in the past 4 boxes. Happy hunting!

Hey that 39 is almost like the ones I tagged you in on Twitter! I checked with my local coin shop and they said they were just polished even though the 42 s war nickel and the words on the strike were very clean and not much damage either my thought was they might be plated or proof because they have too much detail to be polished but hey the guy could be right
I received a 1909 or somewhere in the V Nickel as change from my local corner store was in pretty nice shape years ago.

Check the rim on that Proof possibility Rob..I believe the proof strikes are more square on the rim then the business strikes..or..just spend the dollar and ask pcgs..😎
The 1939 looks to be cleaned because of all the micro scratches
I can imitate those results by rubing tooth paste on coins to enhance there shine. They ended up looking like proofs but they had lots of scratches

That 1939 Nickel For Sure Looks Like A Proof!
I pulled out some of my own 39 nickels so that I could compare them to the one you found @15:18. I have a few that are in decent condition with fairly good detail and the detail on them is nowhere near as prominent as yours is. I’m convinced that the coin you found is a proof. As for silver, it’s weird because it took me forever to find a war nickel. I actually found several buffalos and a v nickel before I found silver. Lately, however it seem as though I’m finding one or two war nickels every time I hunt a box.
I actually found a 1938s in my last box along with TWO war nickels!

I dunno, man. That 1939 looks pretty proofy. If it was polished, it was polished by someone with small tools and a wicked case of OCD. I think it is worth spinning the PCGS roulette and seeing where it lands. If that is the route you decide to go, we expect a follow-up reveal video of the results.

I've done maybe ten nickel boxes and have never found anything worth keeping. This is why I mainly do pennies, I've only ever had one skunk penny box.
I am leaning towards proof on that 39 philly!
New to coin roll hunting, what do you do with all of the reject coins? Do you roll all of them up? Or is there some better way to turn them in
Look for SQUARE RIMS. Also does the circulation worn devices exhibit the same "luster" as the rest of the coin?

Some of the parts of the nickel look polished but other seem like a full proof. I'ma have to say proof but who knows.
I found some 2004? Or else 2005 buffalo nickels as I find that the 04 and 05 year nickels are special looking as with the 09 pennies/one cent coins
There's maybe a couple reasons why it's harder to find silver nickels. 1: They're already in someones collection to stay, 2: they're being bought and sold probably long before they hit the market. But that's just my theory. Who am I to say?

Not sure where a beat up philly nickel stops being a proof because of circulation, at least in terms of value. PCGS stops giving pricing below PR60.
Oh oh oh are ring or circular scratch mark like pattern on one side of the 2022? Nickels some sort of error?
