Most of us in South East Asia just want peace. For me personally, Ukraine should just have stayed neutral. Anyone who knows why the Cuban missile crisis erupted should know better than to be too aligned with one power when you’re a neighbour to another. The same could be said of Taiwan.
The fact that the US was ready to plunge the entire world in nuclear Armageddon because the Soviets deployed nukes in Cuba tells us that having weapons and military bases of a hostile country so closed to your country is a clear national security threat. If the US can view the Cuban Missile Crisis as an existential threat, why shouldn't Russia view Ukraine becoming a NATO member and having US military bases and potentially nukes right at its border not also an existential threat. And shouldn't ALL countries have the right to defend themselves? The fact that in the west, their media refuses to acknowledge that and still plays on the whole freedom and democracy card, and then constantly lie about the war, about Russia's actions has completely destroy whatever credibility they had left.

From SEA, its very simple really if Zelensky cared for his people he should have negotiated the best offer he could from Russia and end this war! The Donbass region is mostly Russian speaking and have been in an 8 years war even before this conflict started. There are also many videos and news about how wealthy Zelensky is since he became President, can u imagine an actor like him worth hundreds of millions.... and Ukraine actors arent even that highly paid. The corruption in Ukraine is the highest in the world, there are many in Ukraine in power milking this for all they can till it comes down and they can than migrate and retire set for life. Sad that the common Ukraine people are paying the price, but than in this world leaders in power for themselves and their cliche seldom care for the well being of what their responsibilities should be and even in the US we can already see this play out in most of the leaders in the Senate, the House, the Judicial system, the FBI, the Justice Dept, the CIA, etc.. Even for Trump he complain about the weaponization of the Justice System in his conviction, but Trump got his own Attorney General when he was President.
Zelensky was already rich before he was elected as a President. Have you read what the russian terms are? They were officially published. I know enought Ukrainians to know that they don't want end the war under Russias laughable terms.
Proper behavior, moral high ground, ..., that's all out the window now. The reason this general is speaking like this is because things are heating up and we're heading for a showdown.
Even the most bloodthirsty military minds are keenly aware that an open war between states, e.g. China and U.S. as you seem to be implying, must wait until the attendant parties have established domestic microprocessor production at scale to compensate for the chaos and shutdown of Taiwan's chip sector in the event of an ill-timed invasion or similarly escalatory provocation. The timeline for this is something like 10 to 15 years.
Zelensky was a comedian, he isn't qualified to be a president !!! Even an engineer required a Master degree or PHD to apply for an engineer post. But how come the highest post in the country do not need a requirement, is just beyond me !! A Tom, Dick or Harry can be a president !
I'm old so I have odd ways of looking at things: On the level of objective results the common people are simply fighting for which side will tax them in the future if they survive. The conflicts are nurtured by those who hope to collect and enjoy those taxes. This applies to most conflicts.
Zelenskyy had the opportunity to reject West (US) offer (bribe?) to become part of NATO and choose instead to become a neutral country and that way get the best from west and east. The result of that bad decision we can see it today with hundreds of thousand deaths and a destroyed country plus the danger to the world of the conflict becoming nuclear. Neutrality the key word
Apparently not: Zelensky did not have any such opportunity, he was even beaten once by the Nazis, who threatened to kill him on the spot. He's just a clown pretending to be president, although maybe he has gained some power in the mid run after all, the nazis seem more subdued now.
We must remember that the cause of the conflict is the coup d'état in 2014 which Victoria Nuland organized and also appointed the new government 2-3 weeks before the coup d'état. The same day the government was appointed, they invited the CIA and MI6. This government included a couple of Americans who became Ukrainians. There were those in the government who questioned that all important decisions were sent to Washington and those who questioned this were dismissed. I believe a minister was fired when he allowed an investigation into Hunter Biden's shady dealings with Burisma.
It’s important to remember that since the 2014 coup against an elected president there’s been a civil war going on in Ukraine. It’s not a simple sovereignty issue. Crimea voted several times since 1991 to separate from Ukraine.
Regarding the point you make that if someone was to retort to the general: "what about Taiwan, etc?" I think you're wrong to say this would be a 'checkmate argument.' The context of both situations are quite different. First off, the current Zelensky regime in Kiev is the product of the US-instigated 2014 coup. The US literally removed the democratically-elected government of Ukraine and put in its place a compliant puppet regime. China never removed Taiwan’s democratically-elected government. Following the Maidan massacre and the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych, the Banderite extremists and Neo-Nazi started persecuting ethnic Russians in the Eastern regions--literally making them second-rate citizens, forbidding them to use their native language and removing their rights. It's in this oppressive context that Crimea overwhelmingly expressed its will to secede Ukraine in a first referendum, and then voted to join the Russian Federation in a second plebiscite. The far right Ukrainian extremists then continued to harass and wage murderous attacks against the Donbas and Eastern ethnic Russians, killing around 14,000 civilians in 8 years, before the SMO in 2022. China has never mistreated the people of Taiwan, let alone waging war on them. Quite the contrary. The current arrangement has been quite beneficial to Taiwan, whose economy depends on good relations with the Mainland. If there is a parallel to make between the Ukraine conflict and Taiwan, it’s that they both have been victims of US and Western imperialism; except that it has not yet escalated into a full-blown war in Taiwan. It should also be noted that Crimea and the 4 Oblasts have overwhelmingly voted for their reunification with Russia, following years of oppression and savage treatment of the civilian population. It's clear to me that Crimea and the 4 Oblasts (maybe more to come) can only belong to the Russian Fatherland--not the hypocritical West and NATO. Similarly, Taiwan can only exist as an integral part of the Chinese nation, not as a US protectorate! Furthermore, if Western powers are so keen on separating Taiwan from Mainland China--whilst officially supporting the One-China policy, why do they refuse to recognise the right of ethnic Russians in the Eastern Oblasts and keep turning a blind eye to the horrendous terrorist acts committed against them by Ukrainian Neo-Nazis since 2014?
Ofcourse, nowadays, everybody can speak against China. Speaking against China is not a big deal. Isn't it? 😂 Even though this war is not initiated by China, even though is a war between Russia and Ukraine, yet China is the one who is to blame.🤣 Is china accountable for Palestine war too?🤣🤣
The General had every right to voice his views and opinion. What he said is right in every sense. Chinese social media condemnation of the General is so wrong and juvenile. Chinese who are pro-Ukraine need to go back to school study history and wake up.
If China was historically astute then they should cut the crap about territorial integrity and sovereignty because historically speaking borders change, nothing is permanent, just look at China's different dynasties with different maps for what they considered China, if for a strong polity like Russia and China deems a territory important for say security then they take it period, China should be honest with itself, it is not wrong to act even if it goes against the concept of territorial integrity and sovereignty, this is just how nations act, this is just how powers act, China should not be like the US/EU that constantly uses the excuse of freedom and democracy or liberal democracy for their geopolitical goals and looking like hypocrites, China should not be a hypocrite and it will gain respect for that instead of having tons of mental gymnastics problems to explain itself like the West.
From Malaysia here; you sure can’t take the comedian out of him even though he has become a president. S.E.A. not supporting Ukrainian bcoz of China hahaha, I sympathise with the Ukrainian but sadly they deserved the govt they got that bring this war upon them - this war that they brought upon them is none of our business. Ukraine, call for peace, negotiate, why did u even provoked your brothers at the first place sigh.. Should have stayed neutral from the beginning just like us ASEAN countries. That said, I can only hope ASEAN stayed neutral and not fall to the temptations of the US and then suffer the same fate as the Ukrainian.
I don't get that argument about fighting for sovereignty. Ukraine is not fighting for sovereignty -- it ceased to be sovereign in 2014. In any case, there are 1.4B people in China, not every single one of them are well-informed. This is a storm in a tea cup.

Shangri-LA dialogue has a interesting history. It's main host is US UK backed entity. This has been well known in China. Philippine president Marcos Jr was the openning speaker of the event, the most alienated SEA country at the moment by China and SEA. The event schedule and Zelensky being there by surprise, don't have to look too far.
MY COMMENT HERE TO YOU WAS SOMEHOW "TERMINATED - CANCELLED - DELETED"..., BECAUSE I WAS EXTENSIVELY CALLING YOUR ATTENTION OF YOUR REMARKS BECAUSE OF YOUR COMPARISON WHICH WAS "WRONG" ABOUT THE CHINESE GENERAL, BECAUSE THE GENERAL WAS MERELY POINTING HIS REMARKS TO THE WORLD.
A general harbouring thoughts about not fighting till the end , till the last man speaks volumes about how he will act in times of war. Choosing the easy way out mayb be the most convenient option in his mind in times of danger. However logical his explanation maybe but a miltary personnel is supposed to be unrelenting n unyielding as a sword. Can imagine if the blade of sword was not made of cold hard steel but rubber .
I think you should focus on your audience from the global south and find subjects to intellectually motivate and stimulate a better future for human kind, the western audience is almost obsolite except for the immigrant who are running it
It's all about business, Russia has cheap ressorces to offer. How do you make an election in a country where about 19% are occupied by a different nation? In the end Russia is the only nation in this conflict witch uses baricade troops to prevent it's own forces from retreat.

Why did China keep fighting for the US in the War of Resistance to Japan between 1939 an 1945? I guess Xu Hui would have conceded all of north and costal China to Japan.
You are comparing apples and oranges. Why US tried to invade Cuba in 1962 even if that meant going nuclear with Soviets, Cuba was sovereign country and they had every right to invite whoever they want to their country, US claiming to be a beacon of democracy and yet they tried to dictate to other sovereign nations what can and cannot do. Just like Cuba, 60 years latter Ukraine made the exact same mistake and now paying for it
I agree with the point about using Ukraine and also think ukraine has right to be independent, west should either provide the support for ukraine to win or stay out, not this middle ground
What is a situation, circumstance or prerequisite for China to offer Ukraine an "offramp"? This seems like a dubious notion, as conventional wisdom dictates China has no incentive for the Ukraine war to end; it's good because it costs the U.S. money, it maintains the precedent that dictatorial states can invade their neighbors successfully, and given the U.S.' hawkish economic approach of late, there is no carrot the U.S. is likely to offer to square this circle and convince China to become a legitimate arbiter in the region. These questions posed to Zelensky are obviously meant to discredit the U.S., expose expansionist policies, and most importantly they are intended to invalidate the legitimacy of Ukraine's right to defend its borders. Of course Zelensky is a puppet and corrupt, and his entire military class is looting aid funds; that said, his hands are not only tied by U.S.-NATO but also by nationalist elements in his own country. If Zelensky goes to the bargaining table, he will be killed.
for most Chinese, Zelensky's is actually considered a "hero" if we just look at his war effort, he leads a weaker country fight against Russia relatively very well. and China never recognize Crimea and other occupied land to be Russia's. I guess China will keep this stance until Ukraine signed some treaty to give the land up. but speaking of how the war started at the first place, Zelensky is surely a clown in Chinese people's eyes.
@@Awakening_Richard maybe its because you are not very Chinese in China as you said in your last video😁 or maybe its because my poor English, "hero" is not a good word to describe the image of him. actually in Chinese social media or forum we dont often use 英雄, but his war effort were widely praised as far as I can tell.
@@thetreekeeper143 I said we see him as a clown. but at the same time, he fought the Russian well for a relatively long time. in some context, hero does not necessarily need to be a morally good person. do you know recently many Chinese joke about Zelensky isnt giving Putin enough pressure? because in some recent negotiation with China, Russia isnt meeting our expectation.
this general's speech was criticized by almost all Chinese people. The People's Liberation Army in the minds of the Chinese is not afraid of sacrifice. They are the children of the people and are supposed to fight for the sake of the people, but when he made the statement that he was afraid of war and went to question the meaning of resistance, he was considered a traitor.
That's a shame, because his assessment was correct, This is not a war in the traditional sense, but WW4 an extension of the Vietnam war a money laundering operation that is soaked in blood
Imagine trying to put a defeatist attitude to demoralize Ukraine to defend its own territory. Defend against all enemies ,foreign and domestic. This stance is obvious. Russia said it would take 3 days. It's been almost 3 years. By that definition, Russia is losing.
Losing your most valuable land, can’t take it back. natoKraine has lost. Question is how much is carved up before this ends. nato wont directly intervene
I think one of the anti China commentators associated with FLG compared the general with Wong Kinwai, whom surrendered to Japanese during late 1930s. The comparison obviously is false. Ukraine did not need to surrender to Russia, but to stay neutral.
I’m sorry that so many believe the “defending its own territory from Russian aggressors” falsehood. I’m sorry that their source or sources of true information are deliberately absent from their view.
Ha! This is your most click baity title yet! Love it! I am going to have to use that same technique when I produce YT content questioning XPJ’s policy on Taiwan.😂 The general perfectly expresses the friction between free thinking versus conformed thinking. Of course everyone wants to live versus being dead, but this guy apparently thinks that there is nothing worth fighting for if there is a risk of being killed. That’s cowardice being mischaractized as intelligence in my book. The mistake I see the general making is assuming Russia’s victory over Ukrainian is assured, when it is in fact not. If light triumphs over darkness Ukraine will prevail, if darkness triumphs over light, the Russia will defeat Ukraine. Would he be saying this same thing when looking at the Party’s darkest days in its fight against the KMT? Highly doubt it, though I suspect the KMT would have liked the Party to have adopted his thinking. If the British in the American Colonies adopted this general’s mentality, the British Monarchy probably would have resettled in North America.😂

For me personally, Ukraine should just have stayed neutral.
Anyone who knows why the Cuban missile crisis erupted should know better than to be too aligned with one power when you’re a neighbour to another.
The same could be said of Taiwan.
Taiwan isn’t a neighbor. It’s internationally recognized as being apart of China. The people on there are ethnically and culturally chinese
@@LeadLeftLeon Fully agreed. Unfortunately the present Govt. of Taiwan have developed amnesia and making matters worse, hence my wording.

Most of us in ASEAN aren't even following the war in Ukraine anymore. He is so self important. We watched him appear in so many parliaments gas lighting the leaders of those countries. Such entitled behaviour coming from Ukraine when she hasn't really made herself relevant to the world all these years. Why does Ukraine think we owe them any concern?

I respect him for saying that. And I agree with him.
Zelensky was a comedian, he isn't qualified to be a president !!!
Even an engineer required a Master degree or PHD to apply for an engineer post. But how come the highest post in the country do not need a requirement, is just beyond me !!

yes
I'm old so I have odd ways of looking at things: On the level of objective results the common people are simply fighting for which side will tax them in the future if they survive. The conflicts are nurtured by those who hope to collect and enjoy those taxes. This applies to most conflicts.

Im American and the Ukraine war is not in my interest
As an American then, you should appreciate the idea that while you are free not to be interested in war, you cannot stop war being interested in you.
It’s mystifying that the Singapore defense minister praised zelensky passionately … 😂

😂😂😂😂Possible.
There's more good military men with more good points where that came from!!
RUclips seems to have deleted my earlier comment. There is a video where Singapore's Minister for Defence, Ng Eng Hen, praises Zelensky.
It’s important to remember that since the 2014 coup against an elected president there’s been a civil war going on in Ukraine. It’s not a simple sovereignty issue. Crimea voted several times since 1991 to separate from Ukraine.

He's right, there will be no Ukrainian left to benefit from anything. Makes sense to Mr Zel also approved by Biden. It's double Win for the U.S MIC.

If China was historically astute then they should cut the crap about territorial integrity and sovereignty because historically speaking borders change, nothing is permanent, just look at China's different dynasties with different maps for what they considered China, if for a strong polity like Russia and China deems a territory important for say security then they take it period, China should be honest with itself, it is not wrong to act even if it goes against the concept of territorial integrity and sovereignty, this is just how nations act, this is just how powers act, China should not be like the US/EU that constantly uses the excuse of freedom and democracy or liberal democracy for their geopolitical goals and looking like hypocrites, China should not be a hypocrite and it will gain respect for that instead of having tons of mental gymnastics problems to explain itself like the West.
agree with you actually. Thanks for watching!
From Malaysia here; you sure can’t take the comedian out of him even though he has become a president. I don't get that argument about fighting for sovereignty. Ukraine is not fighting for sovereignty -- it ceased to be sovereign in 2014. In any case, there are 1.4B people in China, not every single one of them are well-informed. This is a storm in a tea cup.

Imagine trying to put a defeatist attitude to demoralize Ukraine to defend its own territory. Defend against all enemies ,foreign and domestic. This stance is obvious. Russia said it would take 3 days. It's been almost 3 years. By that definition, Russia is losing.

The general perfectly expresses the friction between free thinking versus conformed thinking.
