  • Routerbob demonstrates how to create a custom foam sign using a ShopSabre IS Series 408 Router and Vectric VCarve PRO CAD/CAM Software. We used a masking stencil material to get a two tone color look, as well as a V Bit to get the desired effect. The material used on this project is SignFoam, and the bits used are supplied by Vortex Tools.

    Keep these sign videos coming please. These videos are always a cut above and one of the main reasons is that they are not only a how to but the whys are included for deeper a understanding of the job at hand.

      We turn the dust collection off for the video so it’s more interesting to watch! The dust dock works it’s magic though after!

    How did you prep the signfoam for good oramask adhesion?

    • @shopsabre
      @shopsabre  Год назад

      For us on this project we didn't have to do much prep on this as the adhesion was natural based on the proper masking.

    In VCarve, you can make your profile cut 'do separate last pass' and add a tolerance in the dialogue box. In all but the last pass, it will cut 0.02" larger or whatever you set as your tolerance. Then the last pass will be the final dimension. You can also set to reverse the tool path if you'd like to switch from conventional to climb or vice versa. Check it out!

    Can you put wood inverts into this foam for mounting an eyelet bolt for hanging on a sign upright??? I was going to use 1/2 in treaded eyebolt

      We specifically specialize in CNC manufacturing, we aren’t as advanced on all the processes that go into specific sign construction outside of the Machine but if you need holes drilled for inserts the ShopSabre can do that as long as the tool can reach the area on the material you require

    How do you change text to lines and arcs?

    • @arckraftllc2604
      @arckraftllc2604 3 года назад +2

      With the text selected hit the Convert to Curves button (the T button w/ an arc under it)

      Select the Text - hit the Convert to Curves option. Checkout all the Vectric Tutorials on how to do these type of things.

      @@shopsabre I’ve tried to find sign foam or (HDU) in Rochester NY area and it seems hard to come by. I can’t seem to purchase any around here. Any suggestions?

      @@scottsargent2885 Unfortunately we are based in Minnesota and I am not sure what stock levels are outside of the state. You could try calling Signfoam directly and they may be able to help. Or your local material distributer
