RIP Ad. I have a dwarf hamster and can’t imagine losing him. Ad was literally the most well behaved and trusting hamster. My dwarf took weeks to trust me. He would bite my finger anytime I would change his food. Now when he hears me he comes out and will crawl onto my hand. If Dobby ever dies I’m going to heartbroken, even though I have a dog and a fish. Petsmart does not give proper care advice or offer cages that are proper. I made similar mistakes to you, found the hamster RUclips world and fixed everything but I’m still Learning.

For new hamster owners out there: - cage needs to be 450 square feet or bigger - wheel needs to be 8 - 12 inches for bears - don't handle your hamster for the first few days & let them get settled in - them biting or climbing the bars is a sign of stress

Started off with a pet shop cage, then figured out it was too small, and, hey - this is kind of fun... two homes later, he's in a massive three floor mansion.... My husband is a patient man. But long-haired Syrian hamsters are best and totally worth it. Haha
kiwi girl Russell (my hamster) ended up with a 29 gallon aquarium with a topper from Martin's Cages. I've been really happy with it! Knowing Jenna, I have no doubt #ad will have an amazing, rolling hamster estate of his own before long. When you end up with a pet on short notice, small, temporary homes are definitely a thing. Haha

when i got a hamster i chose the one that hated everybody. he screamed and bit anyone who came close. let's just say Teddy and i were best friends. Edit: as of april 3rd, 2019 Teddy has passed away. rip little buddy.

This inspired me to get a hamster and give her the same level of care and appreciation you guys gave Ad. She’s a roborovski dwarf hamster named Tuna (or Petunia, but her name devolved to Tuna because it fits so much better) currently set up in a 40 gallon breeder fish tank with a good 1 foot of bedding because she LOVES making her own tunnels and burrows, and all of the toys and houses you can imagine. She’s happy and thriving because watching your videos about Ad influenced me to do my research and get a hamster to show her the best life. Tuna and I thank you ❤️

Hey, Jenna. I am a huge fan of you, especially your love for your pets. Here are a few things, you should really know about hamsters: Glass terrariums like you used to have are actually a lot better than cages. Of course it should be big enough. At least 1 square meter... his wheel is way too small as well. For his size you need a wheel that is normally made for rats. NEVER wake him up. Hamsters are night active and really need their sleep over day. If you wake him up he gets a lot of stress and that does shorten his life span. And last but not least: please do not let him run outside. Cagebred hamsters have a very shitty immune system from generations of living in cages (and a lot of inbreeding). He could get really sick just from a few minutes outside on grass. So yeah... just a few ideas you should know. I was overwhelmed as well in the beginning, because I thought: oh such a cute little hamster sure doesn't need that much... but they actually do so yeah... have lots of fun with him! He is really sooooo cute!
exactly. i often see people giving their hamsters too small wheels :/ . i often build little houses and things my own hamster can climb on. hamsters are totally different during night time cause they get very active after many hours of slepp so they need something to play with. i also take my hamster out of the cage and let it explore my room for an hour a day :) just gotta keep the cables somewhere else so that he doesnt eat them

Yeah my hamster wouldn't use it for poop- but she would pee in it. It was so funny because during the day she'd wake up and run down her tube from her house to the litter box with her eyes closed and then like put her hind legs on the wall and pee upside down like a weirdo and then run back.

I had him for like
5 years
When we first got him he was sleeping
And when one of the employees tried getting picking him up Mr grumps hissed at the man
That's how he got his name
Then one day we saw he was dieing
I was scared I didn't know if he was dieing or if he was sleepy so I gave him his favorite treat
Then the next day at school when I came back and started walking my dog then my dad came from work and told me that Mr grumps died
I was crying
Then my dad told me "Mr grumps died with the treat I gave him still in his hands"

My current hamster was called Small Screaming Rat until he got an actual name. Well, he still gets called that, but not as often.
I always pick the hamsters like that too, at my pet store there's a section where they've been bought before and brought back which is sad, my hamster had some issues but little Moo is all good and calm now

This inspired me to get a hamster and give her the same level of care and appreciation you guys gave Ad. She’s a roborovski dwarf hamster named Tuna (or Petunia, but her name devolved to Tuna because it fits so much better) currently set up in a 40 gallon breeder fish tank with a good 1 foot of bedding because she LOVES making her own tunnels and burrows, and all of the toys and houses you can imagine. She’s happy and thriving because watching your videos about Ad influenced me to do my research and get a hamster to show her the best life. Tuna and I thank you ❤️

I cycled through about 4 dwarf hamsters as a kid/preteen. After my 1st dwarf hamster died, I didn't want an average one..they seemed so big and not cute compared to fluffy, tiny little dwarf hamsters.

Hey, Jenna. I am a huge fan of you, especially your love for your pets.
Here are a few things, you should really know about hamsters:
Glass terrariums like you used to have are actually a lot better than cages. Of course it should be big enough. At least 1 square meter... his wheel is way too small as well. For his size you need a wheel that is normally made for rats. NEVER wake him up. Hamsters are night active and really need their sleep over day. If you wake him up he gets a lot of stress and that does shorten his life span. And last but not least: please do not let him run outside. Cagebred hamsters have a very shitty immune system from generations of living in cages (and a lot of inbreeding). He could get really sick just from a few minutes outside on grass.
So yeah... just a few ideas you should know. I was overwhelmed as well in the beginning, because I thought: oh such a cute little hamster sure doesn't need that much... but they actually do so yeah...

exactly. i often see people giving their hamsters too small wheels :/ . i often build little houses and things my own hamster can climb on. hamsters are totally different during night time cause they get very active after many hours of slepp so they need something to play with. i also take my hamster out of the cage and let it explore my room for an hour a day :) just gotta keep the cables somewhere else so that he doesnt eat them

JENNA. Get the attachment for the cage with the litterbox! You can buy hamster litter and they go in there so they don't piss everywhere and it makes cleaning so much easier! Thumbs up so she sees this!

Supertotallyfresh lol yah my hamster was "potty trained" as well and it was so easy! First I was sceptical but I put the little hamster toilet on the spot in the cage where she usually did her wee and next thing I knew, she was IN the little toilet haha! So cute :)
Yeah my hamster wouldn't use it for poop- but she would pee in it. It was so funny because during the day she'd wake up and run down her tube from her house to the litter box with her eyes closed and then like put her hind legs on the wall and pee upside down like a weirdo and then run back.
