I've been playing Wookies for a while now. They are good at shooting but grenades are basically useless on them, as if you're in range to shoot with grenades, you're in range to move into melee with charge to get the better dice. Melee ignores cover already, after all, and being engaged keeps them safe from shooting. They work well at tying up units even if their damage output isn't actually that great. I've tried running smoke grenades on them too but usually they're better placed on other units in support of the wookies as you want those actions to move with them really, though I can see the case for taking smokes on 3 squads of wookies and alternating who uses the grenade each turn. In my experience, threat saturation and recon intel combined with their new scale keyword is the best way to get them around the board safely, im not sure a transport is needed but it depends on your list. For instance, I run them alongside commander Luke, Fleets, and an At-rt with flamer and people struggle to deal with them. Tbh the wookies usually get ignored in that setup (the fleets get killed a lot though, lol).

Duck and Cover is nice on these guys too, since they have indomitable and really want to roll as few defense dice as possible.

No, they may only make one attack action per activation. The Grenades and Melee both count as attack actions.
