JPJ is probably the oldest guy in the stadium (about 65 here), laying down lines that all the kids in the audience are grooving to. That's just cool.

takes the limelight away from the superstars. johannes is their best guitar player when theyre live. not dissing the others but hes on a different plain.
Really? Better than Josh? I mean tons of respect to Johannes, he's had his hands in numerous seminal albums and is a very very good guitarist, but better than Josh? I doubt that.
Also to answer your question, its because he's not part of the band, he isn't part of Them Crooked Vultures, the band that people came to see. This happens with bands like Black Keys too.

I was also impressed by the drummer, for the fact that he was able to jam Dave Grohl's drums while singing. It was an honor to be the singer and guitarist in that band as long as it lasted!! (except for that night ofc, as he wanted to sing on his own exam haha)
Rabin Miguel as musicians yeah, that's how we see it, but that's how businesses work man. The average music fan would be turned off wondering who's the extra bald guy. 'I paid to see Grohl not some bald dude' we appreciate Johannes cause we've seen his talent and of course we understand the suffering of a musician so to say hahaha. I know TCV seems like that band, and I love it for that, don't care attitude, just 3 friends jamming hahaha.

Amazing how Dave makes one simple 4/4 beat sound so awesome and groovy!!
This comment is 12 years old but, as someone who learned the song on drums, the beat is not simple at all to play. It requires independent movement from both arms and legs while keeping the beat steady with the open hi hat.

I just read Dave Grohl's AMA on Reddit and he said this is his favorite song to play on the drums out of his career. You can really see that energy here!

this seems to have a much better mix for the bass than the studio version. I can hear a lot of subtle stuff coming through that i never noticed before. If they make another album hopefully it'll be louder in the mix

I understand your sentiment. JPJ plays a lot of chords it seems in this song, and sometimes when the treble is lower it sounds "farty" for lack of a better word. Maybe this is why his tone is so treble-y?
