    fyi about the packaging, i have found a solution to the mess. i take it out of the freezer and put it in the fridge for about 2 hours. at that point it's still partially frozen but you can cut through it. at that point i cut through the bags, cut off the plastic, cut it into portions and put each day into separate containers with lids. no fuss, no mess, and ready to defrost the rest of the way and serve. once i figured this out, i have no more negatives about farmers dog!

    Good way to defrost them fairly quickly out of the freezer is to put the pouch in hot water, not boiling, but just Hot from the faucet.

    Great Review ! I have been feeding my 11 year old DS for 6 months , a real game changer.... 6 lbs weight loss and the coat , always good but now 3 year old shiny!
    What I do is hack the farmers dog , I feed raw with farmers and add Orijen Dog Food just a very little of their kibble. Straight game changer! I have always fed small
    amounts of Good kibble during traveling . I have nothing to state that is negative about the Farmers Dog, if it does fit your budget.

    hi! I completely agree with you in regards to how messy it is to open and squeeze out. I have found that slicing it down the length side of the bag does simplify the mess. Then you can just open it up and squeeze it out from there. Makes it a whole lot easier and smoother than "toothpaste style" as you described it! haha. Thank you for such a great review :)

      I put a frozen package in the refrigerator the night before and divide into containers for the day. They’re still a little cold in the morning and slides straight out, absolutely no mess at all!

    I got a Maltese puppy and read a vets review where they judged the best foods for Maltese puppies , and Open Farm came in first with a 10 rating , and Farmer Dog was a close second. So they charge $159, for 16 pounds of fresh food plus a extra 15% off so I paid $135. I wanted to find out what Farmer Dog charged per pound of food. Are those 2 pound packages? Do you know the cost per package? Thanks for your help.

    I haven’t tried The Farmers Dog but we have tried Ollie’s and PetPlate. They both are pretty good but PetPlate had more options and I was able to combine my two puppies together with their subscription making it cost less. My puppies also like all of their flavors but not so much with Ollie.

      Hi Dee! I've heard of Ollie's, but not Pet Plate. We'll definitely have to try them out! Having more options is definitely always great. I'm glad your pups have found something they really enjoy. 🐾😺

    I’m happy with it so far- just a little pricey for 2 large dogs.

    Do you keep the non used packages in the fridge or the freezer?

    my 13 week puppy digs, barks, etc, has Olaf calmed down know or still hyper

    • @theoandolaf
      @theoandolaf  Год назад +3

      Olaf is only hyper when he's outside, which would seem fine but it has actually been kind of hard for us at the moment. Inside, he's the perfect quiet dog that listens to everything we say. The moment we get ready to take him outside, he knows what's happening so his energy goes through the roof and it's hard for him to focus and relax. He's very impatient when he wants to play but needs to listen to us first. It's fine for him to be hyper outside, but it has been difficult to take him out in public areas with a lot of people because he'll just pull on the leash, bark and lunge at other dogs, and thinks everything is a game. We're noticing he's very rough with small dogs and that's something we need to work on with him. He gets so excited to see other dogs, but he doesn't realize that they are smaller than him and they can get hurt. I don't think Olaf digs as much as he used to but he still likes to get dirty and jump in dirt and bushes. Other than that, he's doing well. Definitely a big puppy.

    How big is each bag? Like in weight? Thank you.

    • @theoandolaf
      @theoandolaf  Год назад

      Hi! I'm not exactly sure of the weight. I don't think they included it on the packaging, but I would say each bag is about 2 pounds. The weight will also depend on the size of your dog. When you sign up on the Farmers Dog website, they will have you answer some questions about your dog. Once you complete that, it'll provide you with what they think is best for your pup. I hope this helps!
