My next DRG video is coming out soon, it's currently in the end-stage of production and I've set the bar much higher for this one. It's full of experimental editing and voice recording. I've tried and am still trying to capture the best the lithophage outbreak has to offer. It's scheduled to release between the 3rd and 5th of December!
A single promotion on each class, two promotions on driller and gunner and the I still click on every and I mean EVERY DRG review I see. This one is definitely unique, rock and stone miner!
And rock and stone to you! It's one of my core values for video-making to be as experimental as possible and try new things, looks like R&D got it right this time :)
This game has captured my heart with its art style, humor, and Co-Op Team play. Karl has blessed me with handful of internet friends to conquer Hoxxes with, and cured my depression. All other games are added to the collection to sit on a wall and get dusty. Careful miner, the red sugar is addictive...
Indeed other games sit still in interstellar space far away from Hoxxes IV. If it wasn't for this game I would've spent much more than just 60 euro on games this year!
I would like to mention, some Dwarves are such Chads (possibly lunatics or related to Karl, likely both) that they use mods to artificially make a hazard level 6 and 7 level difficulty, on top of mods that further increase the difficulty by it so that the game treats the session as if you have more people on your team. Which it should be mentioned, difficulty also increases based on how many people on your team. The way difficulty is adjusted is calculated and follows a table of sorts. Surprisingly, you can predict certain things to happen within the first minute of your exploration. The missions are randomized within limits. Quite careful randomization. You spend enough time and you can pick up on patterns. It's amazing really.
@@Chronically_ChiII Mods are available on Steam. You need to check which mods are based on the vanilla method of scaling. Of course, you can go crazy and add various things you'd like as well. But some mods essentially use the games approach to difficulty scaling, where it will feel more genuine when you do so. That all being said, there are many mods that are for the masochist in you. Just to be clear, BET-C is actually owned by DRG (not the Rivals), they just forgot some down in the caves and they got infected with one of the local parasites (the Xynarch Charge sucker).
i have >1200hrs in this game yet still really enjoy seeing new reviews of it. it's so great to see new people discovering this hidden gem. rock and stone! and also, the community in this game is one of the best ever. don't be afraid to ask questions to experienced players, everyone is very welcoming and will very likely explain what you don't know, common strategies against x enemy, etc. when i first started i knew nothing about the game and high levelers took care of me while i learned the ropes
not the be the "well actually" 🤓🤓🤓 guy but here is a little bit of trivia about the BET-C mules they aren't actually made by the rival tech, they are ancient battle mules lost to time, and corrupted by parasites. they were sent down into the caves with the old legion of miners (the ones with the old helmets), and the BET-Cs were the main attacking force of DRG in the caves, but it didn't go well. the BET-Cs simple machinery were infected by parasites, and they overwhelmed the miners hence why the miners helmets and lost backpacks exist. this is the reason DRG sends in dwarves to do the rough jobs in the caves, and MOLLY as a storage unit and don't strap a bunch of guns to her. DRG has so much intertwined lore that does such a good job of being interesting without shoving it in your face in order to enjoy the game.
Yes, a few others pointed this out as well. My mistake, always thought the BET-C was another one of those sinister creations of the rivals, like the nemesis to seem familiar but actually be deadly
my usual difficulty suggestions: Haz-1: sight-seeing, dont expect to fight more than a bug or two at a time even during swarms Haz-2: Good starting point for beginners is not shouldered by a veteran, until the player got a few upgrades on his gun Haz-3: solid when you have a few good upgrades or want to play without much risk of a mission failed while still having plenty to shoot at. Haz-4: better approached once you have fully upgraded a weapons or are close to that. Even experienced teams can die in here if things go wrong, and overall many long-term players use it as the "default" difficulty eventually. Haz-5: better approached with fully upgraded AND overclocked guns. Prepare for pain, but if you can make it, you truely feel like you beat a challenge. Even really experienced team can get wiped quickly if things go wrong, and itsoverall a great test of your build, skills, and teamwork. Its not locked behind your first promotion for no reason. Haz-5+: Only doable through mods. Only for the crazies that got so good at the game haz 5 somehow feels boring for them. That or these people WANT to get their ass kicked!
Yeah Haz-4 are hella tough without upgrades or overclocks, if I go solo gunner with the first 2 guns without overclocks I nearly die. Teamplay also plays a huge role in succes playing haz 4 or 5 and is something i will include in the next video, teammates that are ignorant or selfish are a real burden, like a scout not using his flares, engi not placing platforms on ores higher up, calling drop pod when the secondary mission isnt even done or theres still a literal treasure trove of minerals left and last but not least people who dont listen to "WATCH OUT CAVE LEECH" But more or less beating haz 4 and 5 comes down to strategic and constant movement, along with a smidge of good aim of course.
Really interested to see you continue in this game, there's just so much to discover, especially with each dwarf. Just such tiny things in how each one plays, hidden mechanics and synergies that change your playstyle completely. I'm 700 hours deep and still enthralled with the atmosphere and fun of the game
There sure is, I tried to jam most of my favorite things in DRG into a single video. This video wasn't even planned to be 12 minutes long but I just kept finding more stuff I felt I had to cover and theres still so much I left out Everything in this game is so complex and diverse! I could go so deep into the teamplay, combat, mining, mission strategies, ways to profit and so much more

You know how it goes, that title was more favorable to the algorithm. The point of the video was to give DRG a little more appreciation, if you search the game on YT most of the videos get under 500K-1M views if not less. It's definitely known on steam but the more consumer friendly games that get mainstream the better!
I will be honest, the art style was the thing that keep me away from playing this game. But after multiple mentions in making it a comparison to Left 4 Dead, made me give it a chance and oh boy this game it's fun. I haven't had this much fun on a multiplayer game in a long time. The host or another player will buy a round of the special brew before you hop on the drop pod spamming rock and stone as a way of celebrating this undertaking and the fact that you are enjoying your time being spent in this way. The upgrade system is high caliber and feels rewarding to progress down. There never seems like there's an end to the assignments which keep you on task for about 30 straight game hours before you feel ready to begin moving at your own pace, but it's not handholding outside of maybe the first 10 or so missions. A big part of playing deep rock for me was getting over my fear of just getting into a lobby and playing the game. In about 50 hours of play the two worst experiences I had was a engineer complaining about getting satchel charged, and a host quitting a god awful pumpjack mission booting us all out of the mission (which would also be my only complaint personally.)

Yeah, I need to work on that. Only realized this issue after exporting (which took 2 hours) and sorting out all the individual cut pieces of audio is like doing your taxes, thank you for the feedback! That'll be something to add to the checklist next time :)
you should be giving a spoiler alarm. you just showed the end of the Nexus Boss Fight xD
FOR ROCK AND STONE
My laptop can't run hazard 3 or more without 9 fps in waves.
"We're rich!"
Yup.
That's haz 5 alright.
love the game, good job
Top tier game!
Don't get me wrong, DRG is great but idk if it could still be considered a hidden gem at this point😂
It’s a gold vein that’s keeps getting deeper and deeper! ROCK AND STONE
it is a very fun game
What do you mean, hidden gem? It's like on Steam's top 10.
Haven't watched the video yet but calling this game a hidden gem is way under selling it it's made top of steam several times
After watching the video I agree with all but one thing and that is BET-C is actually a drg invention gone wrong the charge suckers on the sides have taken over the BET-C making it attack the dwarves management scrapped the project and enlisted the dwarves to decommission them
My bagis
Yoo play rainworld.
Calling a top 50 game on Steam a "hidden gem" is kinda funny. Good video though!
It should be a top 5, and if more people knew about it it probably would be.
That and more attention for deep rock on YT, the most viewed video about it has 6M views but isn't in english and
*5 years* old!
Not really a “hidden” jem
Rock and stone!
