Thanks Fred! I do agree with you there, I think it's the curve that's the problem, but I don't think I can do much about it now. Lesson learned though!
Great to see it all up and running! Those old lima locos will struggle on inclines - I've got hornby class 50's and will be pulling around 9 coaches and my layout has a lot of inclines and declines. My 2 new reverse loops are fairly steep so I'm going to use dcc concepts power base on those ones.. heads up on the different coloured nse coaches - this was very prototypical that rakes of coaches often had different shades of the blue as nse changed from lighter to darker shade of blues so that was often seen on the network and is something I've already got together on my rakes. Hi Tim! Yes, as I mentioned to Nigel from West Hatton, I am goign to have to miss out of grabbing a Hornby class 50 as I dont get paid until next week. But I will be keeping an eye out for future bargains! Think as you mentioned, it'll help with the inclines. I did think about those, saw them being used by a few people, but never did actually do it on my layout. Ahhh I see, well I appreciate the heads up. Think a bit mroe research is needed by myself into that area tbh!

Hi Tony.... Your layout is coming along well.... Testing is so tedious, but very important, I have just completed this on my layout, lots of 're-laying' & tweaking........ I found that curves had to be 'relaxed' out to around 4th radius for modern stock, which was quite frustrating.. The old Lima pancake motor is quite unreliable...if you can afford to, get a late Hornby model... will cope very well with the gradients and rake.....Don't forget to check the back to back tolerances on your stock too.. I don't think I can manage 4th radius in the space I've got, but will have to do the best I can I guess! Yeah, I've found that, and I am looking into getting one. Frustratingly, Rails of sheffield have got the hornby 50 026 on sale for today only, but I dont get paid until next week, so will miss out on that! You're making good progress, must be quite satisfying to get that first run in. On a different note, are you sure that's a decoder and not the termination plug that sits in place if you just want to run in DC mode? I'm not seeing any silicon for the decoder logic and the board doesn't seem big enough.

I'm not sure what the seller billed it as, but I think that dcc ready normally means that it doesn't have a decoder but has a socket for one, not that it comes with one. 🙂

You should have gone N Gauge. Then you would have had loads of room to do a mega layout .
