lorelei and the laser eyes has become a strong game of the year contender for me, seriously see it through till the end it is so worth your time, incredibly unique game!
I played through Lorelei and the Laser Eyes over a few days this week, and can safely say the game does get better in terms of gameplay as you progress. I think the game's atmosphere is meant to carry most of the weight in terms of keeping player interest, until you get through the initial few puzzles and hopefully get hooked by story beats.

On the idea of thought provoking games in schools, which I think would be amazing for non-neural typical students. It doesn't conform to the "approved curriculum" which is nothing more than teaching the subject matter that the standardized tests contain. Also which does not include things like critical thinking skills. Past 8th grade students are taught nothing of importance anymore.
For what it's worth, the puzzles move away from simple math-type puzzles very quickly once the story beats begin. Some do still pop up, but better puzzles become more frequent.

Eidetic memory is not photographic. And it is real by the way. Eidetic memories don’t forget or offload any memories. They remember all autobiographical memories they have ever had, like what you were wearing when you met your wife or what exact words your dad said to you when you graduated school for example. Edit: I conflated hyperthemisia memory with eidetic. Hyperthemesia memory remembers all autobiographical experiences/memories. Eidetic is a synonym for photographic memory. Cheers!
