Good video. Nice baler. The first baler I worked behind was a JD wire tie. Then NH with a PTO and a NH with a Wisconsin motor. I stacked and unloaded a lot of bales behind them. Hard work, but good memories of better times.
I grew up behind my great uncle's jd 14t & my neighbor's jd 24t ( mid 2 late 90's) the knotters sound about the same Mike🤣...those were good ole balers
Nice baler and nice bales. When I was a kid, my dad had a Case baler. It was that Case yellow and only had like a 4' pickup. Mom drove the tractor, I stacked the wagons, Dad hauled & unloaded the wagons and my 3 sisters were up in the mow stacking under that hot tin roof (not real bad here in NE WI). We could do 1000+ in a day. Have since upgraded to a MF Hesston inline baler for our 2nd cutting bales we do for our small calves and fresh cows, otherwise any other bales (like for our TMR) are all big square bales.
@@mikep7810 We have a Vermeer 605N Cornstalk special we use for corn fodder. Before we got our LSB, we had a MF Hesston RB for hay for dairy cows. It’s just easier for us to haul, stack & use in our TMR the lg sq bales now
hi Mike, how's go in, I'm still watching you good videos,I like the baling hay videos and especially the older balers ha.how they baled hay back then and the equipment.ok later Mike
Nice vid. I have the same baler we inherited the family ranch and completly new to this baler. Used to run a old jd baler. I've only done 33 bales so far and all but 5 went banana on me. I'm at a loss here and help would be huge.
Are they too loose? There is a pressure gage right by the kicker indicator. We usually run ours at the top of the green. There is a knob on the side of the baler to increase or decrease the pressure
Pretty nice bailer, Dad had a Massey Ferguson 124 or 125 model belt throw bailer pulled by a Massey Ferguson 285 cab tractor. All of the controls came up on a rod from the rod to the rear window which was taken out during the summer.
that seems smoother than the NH 68 we used for years...darn haydogs...that needed more research... ever see the bull wheel fly off ??? that baby runs for ever before she stops !!
Gets to where you need to consider round bales and a wrapper. When I was growing up I remember a couple years we made hay in August. The second growth starts coming up among the first crop and gives the hay a little green look. People around me here in Pa. still mowing grass every week and that means a wet summer and corn is a grass so good for the corn. Give that combine a work out this fall!
@@mikep7810 do you have an email or somewhere to message. I can send you the guy's number if you like. I don't have that type of info. Also not sure that price is necessarily a firm price either.
Great video mike…. I hope you got all the hay picked up before we got hammered with rain. I like both JD and NH bailers. As I’ve said before the NH bailers are far better because the plunger stroke is a lot more than the Deere ones. But the Deere makes a better bale. I’ve used both a Deere 348 bailer and a NH 5 something bailer… both had pan handle kickers…
Good baler.👍 Great video glad it's a nice thick crop of grass you have. Nice to see this vid before heading off to the day job. Stay safe sir. Might get our old mf square baler out and video it if time allows. 🏴
Good video Mike. Just returned from visiting family in upstate New York. The wife said I needed to get away for a few days. Your weather pattern matches ours, how do you get hay done in this kind of weather? Idk either. Still have like 3 acres i can't really get on to finish 1st cutting. I can remember the New Holland balers my grandfather had here when I was a kid. The 77, 66, 68 and my 273. When the local dealer retired i tried a Deere 348. Still use it when it's not raining. See you on the next one
You were just showing viewers that it would overthrow the wagon right Mike haha. My 575 the tension gauge is in front of the thrower speed and they moved the tension knob. They didn't fix that lower apron shield breaking and curling down.
I threw a couple bales out of the wagon that day. I knew they had moved and changed a couple of things on it. I knew the knob was 1 thing and I couldn't remember what else they had moved
Only got to watch a few of your videos. But you do a great job. I'll have to catch up on some more. I absolutely love the 4055 how many hours do you have on it. Has it been really dependable.
I usually don't go that much easier on the wooden wagons. I pack them in there like the metal ones. Yeah the windrows were definitely a lot of hay. I'm glad to be done with that field
Don't square bale much but use an old NH 273 when we do. Seems like we only get 6-8 strokes per bale. You were running about 16 strokes per bale. Do the new balers do more strokes per minute or something?
New balers run many strokes faster. We use a JD 336 rated at 80 strokes /min and avco runs 90strokes /min . l wondered about packing more and checked the book. A farm in Missouri baled 1.4 mph and tied every 7 seconds. Big windrows That is weizorcek farms. Check the videos
Thats a good question. Does it have to be a new tractor or a used tractor. If used I would probably get Fords like my uncle has. For new tractors I guess it would be Case or New Holland. One of the CNH
Thanks Kevin. We do some rounds. Its easy to take a round bale out to the pasture and feed the heifers and dry cows. With the tie stall barn its easy to throw the squares down the shoot and spread them out to the cows
Good vedio. Really fun went it hot and you have restring the baler.
Yeah or when I break a shear bolt and I have to replace that in the heat

I bet you don't miss those wire tired bales!
Great video Mike. New Holland has made good balers for a long time. Good shots of the knotter in action Thanks
Thanks Ames. I'm glad you enjoyed it
New Holland makes the best baler in my opinion my last one in 2011 was a 575 before I sold my cows
Thats all we've had. My dad got a 570 in 1989 and baled with that for a long time before we got the 5070. I'm not sure what he had before the 570
Nice baler! Similar to my old 570 :)
That's what we had too. They are pretty similar balers
I grew up behind my great uncle's jd 14t & my neighbor's jd 24t ( mid 2 late 90's) the knotters sound about the same Mike🤣...those were good ole balers
And I still stand behind the same 14T I did when I was 8 yo. That's 46 years. Still running strong. Those knotters are really something to watch.
I'm sure hearing this one brought back some memories
I don't know why but I enjoy watching those bale kickers work. You were damn sure getting bales made in a hurry
Thank you. Yeah the baler was really pumping out the bales
Nice working baler Mike. Glad your on the home stretch its been a hard summer to make hay with all this humidity.
Thank you. Its definitely been really humid this summer
Nice bailer Mike thanks for your videos 😃🍻🇺🇸🐄

Amen brother. Pizza is a food I want have to be called to the table to eat twice. I enjoy it! Great video Mike
Gotta love pizza!
Nice vid! Hay looks nice!
Thanks Gene. Its good to get it and be closer to being done
heavy windrows for sure and it always amazed me how well a baler can tie a knot with all the dust and hay chaff around the needles and gears
I know I made sure to blow them off before I went up but it didn't take long for it to pile up again
I say those bale ejectors are getting more and more technical than they used to be. We still use the original.... The guy loading the wagon. 😄
You can get more on the wagon that way thats for sure. We have a hard time getting people to unload let alone getting people to stack the wagon

Great awesome video mike, love that baler . We still use our new Holland 315 hay liner ,
