Hey Mike just a little advice if you plan on putting baleage in your Tmr once you get one get a round baler with a precutter. A vertical Tmr will process long hay but it will wear out significantly faster.
Thank you for the video Mike. I think your proposed set up for handling round bales; being a temporary TMR gap set up is working fine until the farm is able to obtain a TMR mixer.
Whatever works best for, go with it. Seems like a pretty good system for you. I think probably the same way we would do it too essentially. At least until we can find a better way.
Mike I might suggest that you try a rissler unwrapping cart we have had one for at least eighteen years and it is still going and I don't know how we ever got along without it
I mentioned the Rissler cart at the end of the video and why it wont work. It would be fine going down the front of the cows but I wouldn't be able to get it from one side to the other
Hey Mike, just thinking out of the box, switch the youngstock to the old barn and the milking cows to the heiferbarn make some freestall of it and find a used milkingparlor, there comes a time youre dad will take a step back so prepare for that moment, that is what is comming to my mind but like i sad just some thinking no offense, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I wondered if you could unroll them in the Manger. Probably isn't enough room and they're to heavy to move by hand. Looks like you need to put down some concrete in front of the door. ( in your spare time lol)
Great Video Mike, your shed systems remind me of my dads system in the 1960's BUT at that time Cows were 100% grass fed, if you want i can share some NZ You Tube Channels, Please don't hate me!
Hi Mike this is Donnie Thebeau 😅 I used to be a former myself whenever I was younger I never deal with round bales of hay I used to use the square Vols what is more easier to use on cattle the round bail or the square Bell I have always used square bales because it's easier to pick up
Hi Donnie. We still have square bales. That's still the easiest to feed in our barn. Getting the round baler has allowed us to get the hay baled up quicker and also allowed us to go to baleage
Hi Mike I'm not going to watch the video tonight if that's okay butt but I got a little vacation tomorrow I'm going to the hotel tomorrow I probably want your video this week not tonight I know this message is going to be long ok😊
Much respect! That is a lot of hard work! Please be careful.
Hello from NC
Thank you
@@mikep7810what about a bale cutter, cut the bale in half? Would that help any, just a thought.
There’s nothing that satisfies me more than giving the cows beautiful hay.
A beautiful site indeed
Great job Mike! Do what you have to do until you can make things better.
Thank you, and that's true
Necessity is the mother of invention, came out good
Thank you. I think it will be good until a tmr mixer arrives
Sorry ware did you get that round bale unrouler from
Good video Mike. The cows dont seem to be complaining, so its all good buddy👍
Thank you Kevin. Cows love the baleage

Thumbs up Mike your plan is coming together one step at a time.
Thank you Scott. Slowly but surely

Thank you. I think it will be a good stop gap
This video reminds me just how hard work farming is.
It sure is
A wet warm winter and spring wil require some gravel near the barn area leding to the barn door and the unrolling area,
There is a construction outfit up the road that I already spoke to about getting some of the gravel
Whatever works best for, go with it. Seems like a pretty good system for you. I think probably the same way we would do it too essentially. At least until we can find a better way.
I hear that
Another great vid!
Thank you Gene
Amazing work mike greeting from burley Idaho
Thank you Carlos

Maybe some day
Hey Mike love your videos. What is the name brand name of your bale unroller. Would like to get one
Thank you Dennis. That is a worksaver bale unroller.
U work with what u have available good stuff
Thank you Bill. You're right, work with what you got
I wondered if you could unroll them in the Manger. Probably isn't enough room and they're to heavy to move by hand. Looks like you need to put down some concrete in front of the door. ( in your spare time lol)
You probably could but getting the bale over to the other side would be an issue plus what do you do with the roll when you unroll it to the other end
I thought maybe turn it around and roll it back the other way. Or build a 100 cow freestyle with a center feed alley.

Sounds good Tony. Always good to see different set ups

Good job seems to work OK
What u going to do with old plastic wrap ?
Is there anyone around there to recycle it
I'm looking in to see what other neighbors do with it
Can you just spear the bale, and save the time of switching from the hugger to the unroller? Just a thought from a lazy guy.😯
You could but could knock over the pile. Most of the time the hugger is on the loader anyway so its not a big deal
Time think about expanding and build freestyle barn and robot
Its been time to think about that for a while now
Know that you've seen how the bales do with feeding would you got knives in the baler if it was do to over
I'd consider it
Great feeding concept just needs some fine tuning
Thanks John
What town are you in or nearby just curious
Not too far from Cortland
Ware did get bale un roller fr
Clinton Tractor
I know it’s easy for me to say but would a big square baler have worked better.
They both have their advantages but I like the decision we made to go with a round baler
works better in dry weather
True
👀🙄🐾👍
Thank you
