Hi. I'm deciding whether to use a electric shaver over a blade. I'm looking at the Braun 7 over the Panasonic only because of price but I'm wondering do any of them cut as close as a blade?
Honestly, The Braun Series 9 Pro and the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige get as close as a blade, but they are both very expensive. The Braun Series 7 is a great shaver, but it does not get quite as close as a blade.
Will the Panasonic ARC 5 operate by the cord after the battery no longer holds a charge? I've been using Braun shavers for several decades, and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM would operate from the cord long after the battery would no longer hold a charge. I'm having a really difficult time reconciling buying another one now that they no longer operate when plugged in, making them horrendous landfill much sooner than they need to be.
@@tilu3303 I do not think so. If the shaver is a wet/dry shaver, like the ARC5, it will not operate while plugged into an outlet. The only shaver I have that works while plugged into an outlet is the Philips Norelco 2300 because it is not waterproof.
Check out my list of budget shavers, under $100 Probably the Norelco 3900 or the Braun Series 5 shaverdude.com/shaver-battle/best-shavers-at-any-budget/
Let me explain why such a comparison isn’t reliable. Your beard typically grows at a tilted angle, and when you shave, the angle of your hand introduces another tilt. The combined effect is that the cutting angle between the shaver and your beard differs on the left and right sides. As a result, even with the same shaver, you may notice slightly different outcomes on each side of your face.
not quite, if you want as close as a blade, I think you need to try the Braun Series 9 Pro or the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige, but the ARC 5 and Braun Series 7 are almost that close
@@bar10ml44 I could somewhat agree with the confusion. The series 5, 6, and 7 are very similar. The 8 is kinda forgotten, and rarely gets talked about. For example, I have the Braun Series 8 and haven't even made a video. But the Braun Series 9 is really a much better shaver than the others. Call it expensive or just better value, but it is a great shaver.
@@ShaverDude Thank you. After much angst and reviews I'm sticking with a Panasonic arc 5. My previous Panasonic has been a powerhouse so why complicate things. £114 for a razor that gets excellent reviews. Cheers and thanks from London.
@@JakeJones-1972 I do not, but here is a story. Another person with a thick and fast growing beard, I know, purchased the ARC 5 and was not overly impressed. What do you currently use? Another electric or a blade?
It’s so really hard picking the right shaver causes it will work differently on everyone I guess we just gotta pick and try it out
@@JakeJones-1972 I agree, but I have found there are some differences and spending more usually results in a better shave

If this is only minor difference in shaving quality then the cost of spare blades may be important. And these for Panasonic are way more expensive.
@@artlightbs80 that is true and something to consider

@@ShaverDude Maybe switch sides to see if you can get the same conclusion?
@zhenyuzhang9486 ok, so do 2 shaves and swap sides of the face
You have forget to mention the two power levels of the Arc5 by pressing the power button twice to get full power out of it!
I don't know if you are being serious. Mine does not have that feature.
@@ShaverDude first press is automatic (it adapts to your hair strength and thickness) second press is full power

The Braun series 9 pro is way too expensive. My issue is the complete confusion over models. They make it extremely difficult for a consumer.
