Yeah, Let's Go had really good lighting and textures. You could like see subsurface light scattering in the player's ears when you first get Pikachu/Eevee. They also fixed the washed-out colours of the transition from 2D to 3D. Idk if any of the future titles kept that.
What was the point of those games anyway? We lost fire red and leaf green content like the Sevi islands. An original story would have sold me on the game. I borrowed it from a friend and couldn't be bothered to finish it.
I believe it's gamefreak's fault not the switch itself because there are lots more powerful games that run WAY better than Scarlet and Violet. As a die hard fan, I refuse to buy these games until they fix these performance issues. I ended up buying sword and shield instead.
@King Zoroark my point exactly. Gamefreak are just taking advantage of the Pokémon brand. But serious trainers like myself just ain't having it no more. 60 bucks for games that don't work how they're supposed to just ain't gonna fly. Idc what brand.

And I really love that the Pokémon sizes are so accurate, not to mention the PERFECT IMPLEMENTATION of following Pokémon. That game makes me so angry because it could have been a masterpiece, but it's just a big missed opportunity.
IMO Arceus was an ugly game, I'd much rather have clean 2D sprites than this bland-ass 3D. Let's Go eeve/pikachu and BDSP are the only decent looking Pokemon games since the NDS :I
All this needless complaining about Sword and Shield being too "simplistic" is what has directly caused all the technical issues on Scarlet and Violet, if these games had used the SwSh engine and just dialed back all the unecessary excess geometry like all those mountains and forests that have nothing on them they would have had much better performance; ideally, the areas in Paldea should have been separate maps like in Legends, keep them open, just have loading screens in between them, even Xenoblade understands this, loading the entire world map in one go is just asking for trouble, especially when you're already doing dumb, pointless things like giving every character individual strands of hair. In general, GameFreak once again failed to prioritize the proper elements and instead wasted time and resources on things that don't matter.
Let's Go has the best graphics in the 3D Pokémon games. Even Legends: Arceus looks really good. The 2D Pokémon games always look great. It would be best if the Pokémon games use 2D anime graphics.
I think what everyone is missing here is SV is an open world game. This is what I envisioned pokemon to always be since my pokemon yellow days. The graphics and performance could have been better or at least similar to legends arceus. At it's current stage, it feels more like a beta version.
I agree legends of arceus art style is by far the best of all the switch mainline games I just wished they implemented more online functionality into the game

I recently bought and started played Let's Go Pikachu, Sword and Legends Arceus and so far I think because of the graphics and nostalgia factor, Let's Go is my favorite. With Arceus and Sword being close. The only thing I didn't like from Let's Go is the need for me to play it handheld to have some nice control over the pokemon catching mechanics and the lack of pokemon transfer ability with other Pokemon games. Other than that, it's an awesome remake of the old ones. And it's still everything that I wanted Red, Blue and Yellow to be back in the day :)

Somebody has to say it that pokemon legends arceus is peak of pokemon series. Till now i have not completed that games, yes am bit late but am just loving it.
I'm preferred original Pokemon game Sword Shield good performance than Scarlet Violet poor performance. Sword Shield also much more vibrant colours. Pokemon Let's Go & Legends Arceus is not original Pokemon game, it's just side game because didn't have normal Pokemon things likes gym battle etc
If a game lacking gym battles makes it a side game then that means all of gen 7 aka Alola was a side game. Which obviously isn't the case. To my memory Masuda has already confirmed Let's Go as mainline years ago. If Let's Go is considered mainline by a major Gamefreak member... Legends Arceus probably is too. Legends Arceus also has side quests like the Manaphy quest which directly references content in BDSP which is a remake of a mainline game, implying Legends Arceus is connected to the main series.
Scarlet and violet went way too far with the artstyle Like giving several pokemon visible hair does not make them look better it just makes them look dirty
Sword and shield was not very good looking but it was still à good game and runned ok but scarlet and violet is just unplayable it's really a shame cause the game is so good but the performance and bugs are really annoying but I think they can fix most of it and upgrade de performance for sure because most of it is due to the game being rushed

The graphics and sound effects are better, I prefer the linear routes more than the open world, I prefer the setting (I live in the UK so I’m bias with that one) as well. Honestly, open worlds aren’t all that anymore. If anything it hinders the game a bit. It’s TOO open.

Pokemon was never about graphics but gameplay. For Switch games, they’ve missed with gameplay so much trying to upgrade their graphics. Funny enough, if they just kept doing something simple and clean like Let’s Go, we would get amazing games with endless content. Instead, we have GameFreak trying to stimulate Zelda games that have years of development and huge teams dedicated to developing their games. Now, we have ugly looking games with bare minimum content that don’t even run at 30FPS.
I dont understand why they didnt kept either pla or sa graphic setting? Theyr alrdy good enough for a switch game. Sv tried to be realistic which didnt work
Legends Arceus hands down best art style and HUD. Even battle and Pokémon contact. Pokémon feel alive there. Sword and Shield has a visually pleasing cartoon style. Scarlet and Violet idk where to put because the models look ok for old Pokémon but not some of the newer Pokémon for some reason. Battles in SS also just feel the worst and raids are the worst thing introduced in this. Leave it to Pokémon Go. The characters look very cartoony in SS but the Pokémon look like they wanted to be realistic looking. The world looks like clay 50% of the time. Though the 3 stories are enjoyable. PLA definitely had it going and then they took 3 steps back Sword and Shield’s DLC maps are what the game should’ve been. Pokémon in SS can sometimes be way way too small and you just constantly run into Pokémon. I also hate that you can’t run away from Pokémon even if over leveled which makes 0 sense. And battles look horrendous but it’s enjoyable
Nice comparison. I know that a lot of people say that the games should have been delayed, but that's not possible. In Japan, there's too much stuff going around those games that can't be easily delayed. Since the release of it, if you go out in Tokyo you're likely to come across some Pokemon SV commercials, promotional stuff etc. And that's in convenience stores, other various shops, trains, and so on. There are Pokemon SV commercials even in the official streams of the FIFA World Cup that's been going on in the past weeks. Delaying the games would mean breaking this enormous chain of promotion around it. And that's not mentioning things like Pokemon TCG and the anime whose release is also tied to the games. I've really enjoyed playing Pokemon Violet and I'd really appreciate if the performance was better for even better overall experience, but I understand that once the release date of a new Pokemon game, particularly a new one of the main series, it must be extremely difficult to postpone it.
this might sound weird i have all the pokemon games on switch my pokemon violet runs very smoothly and ive only hd 1 glitch out of 200 hours of gameplay
I feel like 100% the only 2 good mainseries games on switch are legends arceus, and lets go. Quite honestly the reason being is their more spinnoff approach to the mainseries. Quite honestly, I don't think we're ever going to have a good full 3d true mainseries game, because the mainseries games weren't designed for 3d. Legends arceus works because its not just trying to be "pokemon but in 3d", it tries to be its own thing. Scarlet/Violet don't work as well, because they are trying too hard to be something that they just can't be.
I think going forward, instead of having a full open world game, I'd much rather have a sort of segmented open world game like legends arceus. I think it would allow for a more fleshed out map and towns. Pretty much legends arceus with a few more towns and areas, but they are sort of interconnected.
Well... I don't wanna be rude but, in my personal opinion, Pokémon on the Nintendo Switch was nothing but an embarrassing pile of disappointment for almost 50% for the fans.
Amazing video, under 10 minutes unlike other Greedy content Influencers - and actually a rare as an Oasis factual & level-headed take on the whole matter! 💯 I mean look, no one is saying Scarlet/Violet are 'amazing' or near Perfect but the opinions that blame the graphics/performance and vilify the entire 3D line in general are just laughable. Sure, We cannot enter Buildings, customise characters and NPCs don't nearly have enough side-Quests and that's not good - but for the sake of transforming the World's best selling series into a whole new format (on a Breath of the wild scale level of change) , some risks/sacrifices had to be made and I do hope they put these oldskool features back in (pretty easy to.) And, the people have spoken. If it was genuinely bad, and a wrong turn for the series, sales would dip as why would people buy it? The game's $60, more expensive than ever before, so naysayers or blind haters cannot use the ''oh but it's Pokémon, it'll sell'' 'argument' (which was a laughably weak retort in itself anyways and counter-intuitive!!) People have been praising the meticulously re-Worked Pokémon models no end; they really seem 'realistic fantasy' nailed to a tee which totally suits and Progresses the Series Charm & Style. They love the Open world and Free-level catching, which is a 100x improvement on the much (and rightly this time) criticised Sword & Shield (but still, they sold well, due to amazing Competitive mechanics , Good unnerfed Abilities & the marketing which was solid.) And the Story was pretty amazing for Pokémon: I mean, it was some surprisingly touching stuff past it's initially cringey cover , and that matters, people were pulled in by it. I'd give SV a solid 8/10. (For comparison, I'd give Sword & Shield a 5/10 and that's being generous now!) Just a few Performance and bugs on week 1 which I know are still not acceptable from such a Big company - but I got mine day 3 on download, patched Up and I barely ran into any hard glitch or major issues: just some annoying slowdown so I really do they should ask Monolithsoft for help with the next game's Engine. Anyhow, sorry for the loong ramble lol! 😄😅 Great video & you've earned a Sub and hopefully many more for your very sensible and non-agenda pandering assessments!
@@KingZoroark yeah, and with Arceus being the second best(with BDSP having some of the UI from LPLE), they can make the the next games with the best performance and battle animations with a mixture of LGPLGE, PLA, BDSP, and SV with a bit of animation backdrop from SwSh

They love the Open world and Free-level catching, which is a 100x improvement on the much (and rightly this time) criticised Sword & Shield (but still, they sold well, due to amazing Competitive mechanics , Good unnerfed Abilities & the marketing which was solid.)
And the Story was pretty amazing for Pokémon: I mean, it was some surprisingly touching stuff past it's initially cringey cover , and that matters, people were pulled in by it. I'd give SV a solid 8/10. (For comparison, I'd give Sword & Shield a 5/10 and that's being generous now!)
Just a few Performance and bugs on week 1 which I know are still not acceptable from such a Big company - but I got mine day 3 on download, patched Up and I barely ran into any hard glitch or major issues: just some annoying slowdown so I really do they should ask Monolithsoft for help with the next game's Engine.
Anyhow, sorry for the loong ramble lol! 😄😅 Great video & you've earned a Sub and hopefully many more for your very sensible and non-agenda pandering assessments!
I wouldn’t say a video being over 10 minutes is being greedy. You’re watching content someone is making for free lol.
i like pokemon sword and shield but i also want voilet and scarlet whats better
Yeah, I can see the differences between the games
Exactly I think it’s interesting how let’s go is probably one of the best running games on the switch
@@KingZoroark yeah, and with Arceus being the second best(with BDSP having some of the UI from LPLE), they can make the the next games with the best performance and battle animations with a mixture of LGPLGE, PLA, BDSP, and SV with a bit of animation backdrop from SwSh
i just love sword and shield imo its the best overall
Yep still salty Sinnoh was done dirty
💯💯💯
All that for Legends to slam
Let's Go looks the best imo
I gotta give it to lets go
Same it aged better than previous titles.
I’m in 2024 and scarlet and violets graphics are still 🗑️
People tend to forget that the switch hardware is not strong so these things will happen with voilet and scarlet doesn't matter if you have the oled switch still restricted hardware plus alot of these bugs have been patched scarlet and violet a miles ways better to play now even with some of the bugs still not patched
Honestly my game never glitched like that so i dont know about the fuss about i play on oled so myabe thats why 😂
Let’s go and brilliant diamond are trash but excellent graphics
I really want to get back to play pokemon scarlet and violet but frame rate constantly drops every time I play. Always got headache playing. I really wish they could fix performance issue so I can enjoy the game again 🥹
