  • In this short talk, Dr. Vest shares some of what she learned from tribal elders of the Mashpee Wampanoag, Pequot, and Narragansett tribes about the First Thanksgiving and the history Native-Colonial relations in New England. This talk was presented at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists in Berkeley, CA on Nov 11, 2023.
    Dr. Vest is the author of Ancestor Count: Four Corner Poems, The Ethical Psychic: A Beginner's Guide to Healing with Integrity and Sovereign Wisdom: Generating Native American Philosophy from Indigenous Cultures. She has a PHD in Indigenous Philosophies/Critical Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley.     Thank you for sharing this truth, your words, this message. We need more of it, spoken so eloquently,though it breaks my hearts to hear such harm was/ is done and then disguised. I pray the truth will continue to be heard, and healing, uplifted spaces will be rectified. I pray it will be done now. Aho. Ase.
