Corttanos might’ve had to do with the callers age. I’m not sure if Gameranx mentioned it, but if thé caller was like a 12 year old kid, then chances are (if you got a solid lawyer) it probably won’t be too severe despite how ludicrous it is. I’m not well-versed in the law though. 🤷‍♂️ But shooting someone on sight especially on duty seems very well deserved for several years of prison.

Thing is in my Coutnry the Terms and Conditions clearly state that Items and the Character and basically everything in an Game belongs to the Company. So even if i buy a Skin for Money, its not mine.
Its more like i bought a service from the Company to use.
There is also another intersting Terms and Conditions thing but thats not the Point atm.
So were i live you cant go to court because someone hacked or scammed you in an online Game. Since whatever you lost wasnt yours to begin with.
Or can you go to court?
Many years ago "Der Spiegel" (yes Germany) had an interesting article. In some Onlien Game a pair of Shoes were stolen via hacking the Account.
The "owner" of those shoes went to court. But not for the Shoes.
He won his case because he reasoned that his time was stolen. Time he invested to be able to use that Item. That Story didnt end with Jail ofc, but a quite heavy fine for the Hacker.

So let's explain some things here:
Brazil's "jailing system" (for lack of better word) was developed during the 1940's along with many other laws and social systems still in place nowadays (like retirement rules, which have recently been updated again). What happens is that, in 1940, people's life expectancy was around 50 years, so if you were condemned at the age of 18 you would probably die around 32 years later. Back in the 40's, this rule allowed for the victims to feel that there was some punitive behavior in place and that was effective as hell (no getting out earlier and also not living long enough to continue doing harm to society).
Jump now to 2021, where Brazil's life expectancy rose to about 70 years, with laws and practices that diminish jail time by about 1 to 2 thirds of the condemnations suposed serving time and a different Constitution that reinforces burocractic behavior. Nowadays, if someone goes to jail at 18, they would probably get out of jail when they are 28, or will serve their time through different means (like home arrest or communitary services). Even if they do 30 years of jail time, they would leave with 48 years old and still live 22 years, which is more than enough time to cause harm to society and STILL get out of jail again.
So that's why this CS GO woman is probably going to get out of jail sooner than expected and will probably do harm and crimes against others without suffering some effective punishment. It is clearly known by everyone in Brazil that jail serving time needs to change in order to garantee that the trial is not only fair, but also effective at addressing criminality as a whole.
It sucks to see these things, but it's how the law works (now). Hopefully it does change, like some things have started to change recently.

Regarding the cheaters and hackers: Consider online gaming like sports. Even in very very low leagues and sometimes even casual sport events, if you cheat you can be fined. And the more often you do it and get caught the higher the fine gets up to jail sentences and being banned for future events.
