I found the whole Witcher series hard to follow. I couldn't tell you where the characters were in terms of the world, why or what they were doing. The GOT series, apart from the last few seasons, were good at establishing the different locations and people. You knew if the scene was in the north, Dorne or Kings Landing, by the background or dress style of the people. But the Witcher, it could of been anywhere in the world and I didn't have a clue.

Wow! Talk about falling off a cliff! I'm a complete novice when it comes to The Witcher. I haven't played the games nor read the books.
Thus all those differing time lines in season one was difficult to follow, but I love fantasy shows so did my best to stick with it. Season two was much easier to follow, particularly after re-watching season one again for a recap and to ensure that I didn't miss anything crucial.
And now we have season three... Definitely the weaker of the three by a bit of a margin! And with Henry Cavill leaving? And rumours that the show might get cancelled? Yeah... It was a good run while it lasted but I think the run has ran its course!
Shame really... This show had so much untapped potential!

I think I lost brain cells trying to listen to someone explaining this plot in a serious manner, as people pointed out in the comments there is nothing coherent or good about the writing in this misfire of a show, shame it will take many years to get a proper Withcer show that focuses on adaptation, good quality, and not focus on modern morals and our modern world while completely ruining anything that was good about the source material.
As for next seasons, I wouldn't hold my fingers for more than one and even that starts to look bleak, with only casuals left watching the show and no passionate people to hype it, I think this is it. The optimists had already started dropping at season 2.

I had such trouble finishing Season 2. The last two episodes were a shore to go through. It had started well enough in Season 2 but I realised there just wasn't much to this Universe, even by the end of that season, I still had no idea about the motivations of the characters, who even these characters were! Again it's the end of Season 2 and I have no idea what's going on! lol I knew about the three main characters but I didn't care or understand the rest. It has been a terrible World building. In Game of Thrones you basically knew everybody and their motivation in the first episode. I liked Geralt killing monsters and that was it. They should have made this the point of the show and build on it. There is no way I'm trying Season 3. But thank you Robert for having suffered for us. ;)

The only episode I can even recall was that one with the beauty and the beast story. The writers were clearly not capable of weaving a grander narrative and should have just stuck to these small, serialized episodes. Better yet, fire the writers and find ones both interested in the Witcher and capable of adapting the books. What a waste.

@@Uncle_Fred Yea exactly, I think the Beauty & the Beast one was the first episode of Season 2 and it was will done, well executed and it was a good launch of Season 2. I was positive coming out of it(esp. since I had heard that Season 2 was bad). But I think overall when it's not about the three main characters, it's a mess. I literally do not care about any of it. Very unappealing. The show is doomed anyway with Cavill leaving.

Agreed 100%. I was done with it after getting through season 2 and have no plans to continue. There was some good in Season 1 but already the timeline change was making things pointlessly confusing. When there was the magic battle at the end of Season 1 and I didn't care about the stakes and who was who and what, I knew the show had big issues. Right now I wait until people I trust say something is good before I watch it. lol Like I won't dare trying Rings of Power and Wheels of Time.

    • @Uncle_Fred
      @Uncle_Fred Год назад

Exactly. With Tolkien, the bar is set so high it's probably impossible to please me with any Tolkien adaptation, so I won't even attempt that show. Instead, I find myself enjoying audio book adaptations of the LOTR like Phil Dragash's, which blends the sophistication of Tolkien's writing with the music of Howard Shore. I find myself turning more to that these days rather than the Jackson movies.
I doubt I'll ever enjoy a new adaptation of Tolkien's works until the IP goes public. It's at that point and in all the muck that will be released that some great writer cut from the same cloth as Tolkien will combine their nerdy knowledge of Tolkien's universe with a grand story. I personally hope for something set in the east or south of Middle Earth. I'll probably be old as the hills at that point but it's at least something to look forward too.
I feel that new IPs offer more near-term potential. Someone is bound to make another high-brow fantasy flick or TV show.@@johnnyskinwalker4095

Horrible cliff hanger ending to an otherwise pretty good season, but not sure I can watch the show without Cavil.

Glad I'm not the only one that didn't utterly hate it. It's going to be very. . . Awkward without Cavil. Is it bad that I hope they make a meta joke about it? If they don't address it at all its gonna be weird xD

@@jacobsquare4812 How the show addresses it will be interesting. Same thing with season 7 with Rick and Morty with the new voice actors.

Man y'all are hating on the witcher, but I think they did a reasonable job bringing everyone together and still having the characters make reasonable in-universe decisions.

"Forz" is the German word for fart, so Vilgefortz has quite an appropriate name, and I grin every time I hear his name. 😄🤣
