If he enter the port at some speed, side waves may push him on the breakwater. Did he waited idle the side waves to bring the ship in front of the opening and then full ahead to enter quickly ?
Not convinced about those manouvers at the port entrance but sure this is not easy in those waves there. Has anything unexpected appeared that we dont know about from the film? Like bottom of the seabed hit caused by waves?
@@ErikRuby Well, I don't say you can't do it that way, but for me it looked a bit like he lost the rudder and controlled the ship with bow and stern thruster. But yes, Hanstholm is tricky, when sitting in the Mad House and watching the port I also saw some other unusal ways to leave and enter the port.
I have been in and out that harbour a hundred times never seen this before .

Brilliant. Stabilisers working hard - perhaps the captain is demonstrating this at the entrance as little roll is evident despite the seas.
Strange maneuver. If your ship is fully maneuverable you would avoid to turn with the side to the wind and the waves
There was an unusually experienced skipper on board who has sailed the port of Hanstholm many times.
Then he thinks and knows 100% what he is doing.

oh my god... looks like he had engine problems and even the thrusters didn't work properly...
